Draft Analysis: "A massive value-destroying error"?
jayboogieman replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
What if Cam didn't play well though? Should Carolina have drafted another QB Cam's second year or should Ron and Co have given him more time? If Lawrence plays poorly, should the Jags draft another QB next year or should they continue to surround him with better players? From what you stated teams that need a QB should be spending their first round picks on QBs until they find their guy so by that logic the answer is yes, both teams should keep drafting QBs instead of giving those guys another chance. Trubisky is going into his fourth year and the Bears' braintrust are wanting to hang on to their jobs, so of course, they drafted another QB to buy more time. And if Fields plays poorly does Chicago draft another QB next year? Again, your logic about using first round picks on QBs says they should. You are assuming the Panthers don't view Darnold as their guy because you don't view him that way. They seem to think Darnold is their guy and that Fields wasn't worth the pick. -
Draft Analysis: "A massive value-destroying error"?

I disagree. Not all prospects play at a high level right out of the gate. Sometimes it takes guys more than one season to put it together, especially if they were drafted by a bad team. Taking another QB in round one right after you drafted one the previous year is a huge waste of draft capital that could be used to get your young QB a WR, LT, or whatever else. You have to give them a fair shake before you move on to the next one. And trading a first round QB for a lower pick a year later is a waste of resources if you can trade him at all. -
You get to be LT! And you get to be LT!

Official NFL Schedule Day Leaks and such and stuff

You'll get a Thursday night game and like it too! Just kidding. I thought it was a mandate that every team gets one of those so the NFL can say every team gets a national primetime game. -

Thank goodness -
The Nuggets don't need the refs' help, but they are getting it.

Fun game, but the Hornets have zero defense unless it is a lucky steal.
-
I understand Biz not looking for a lot of shots as he knows that isn't his game. Cody though, he can score fairly easily when he wants to. He's just always been too happy to pass the ball and set a screen.
-
Cody should have taken that mid range shot. He was wide open.

This is the first time I can remember that JB has gotten tossed.
-
The Hornets have surprised me and made a game of it. I'm glad I was wrong.
-
Even if they have the firepower to come back, they don't have the defense.
-
Terrible start and it feels like this one is all but over already.
-
Good luck to him but,

Pretty sure Tepper bought the ship and has already said he wants a long cruise. Rhule, who is known for rebuilds, was hired to steer the ship. The GM was brought in to help navigate their long course.

I answered the question. If you're not happy with the answer then that is on you.
-
Yes. Seeing something new can be confusing for anyone. Then you educate(coach in this case) the person so it isn't confusing again. Plus, with more experience and better coaching, Darnold(or any young QB) should have a better idea of what to do when presented with a new look defense.
-
They pretty much gave this one away. I've never been a big Monk fan and think too many Hornets fans overrate him. He's a super streaky guy and reminds me of Ben Gordon when he was in Charlotte. Ball scored fairly well, but didn't get a lot of assists this game. PG play was ok when he was in. When he was out it was rough though. JB should really play one of the rookie bigs over Biz and have Cody start again. Honestly, they could probably play both rookie bigs and not notice a big difference.

I know guys miss shots, but there are too many of those long stretches were everybody goes cold, like what happened in the 4th this time, for the team to take that next step.
-
Nice opening half with hardly any defense played by either team.
-
Yeah, Miles is missed.
-
Melo needs to stop taking those extra long 3s. He misses too many of them.

Cool, but I would rather see it announced that he has signed his rookie contract instead of what he wants as his number.
