  1. An ok start to this one. They might lose the last two games since the Hornets generally haven't played well in those early afternoon games.
  2. How does taking Fields add to the blemish if they thought he was a franchise QB or at least better than Darnold? Correcting mistakes is a good thing. The simple fact might be they just think Darnold is better than Fields.
  3. Darnold is the same age as some of the rookie QBs and had only been a starter 3 years before being drafted including high school. (source) Despite having 3 years of NFL experience, he hasn't played a complete NFL season (source), so he could be equated to a rookie. His advantage over the rookies is that he should be use to the speed of the NFL game. I agree that nobody knows what will happen. I don't agree that the team thinks they need a QB though.
  4. How can you see anything with Darnold on the Panthers when they haven't played yet other than your own narrative? He could become good or he could be bad. We just won't know until they play this fall. It seems there are several of you guys that want Darnold to fail and Fields to be great just so you can pat yourselves on the back and crow about being right.
  5. That's the thing. What defines the hole? Does a high draft pick fill it just because the guy is a high draft pick? How long should the QB be given to prove that he can do the job? That's why I stated I disagreed with him about taking a QB in the first round every year.
  6. I'm not trying to over complicate this. Your stated opinion was that a team with a hole at QB should use their first round pick each year until they find their guy. Teams that have a hole at QB should. Now you are saying that if you draft a QB high, you give him a real shot. What is a real shot? One year? Three years? Does drafting a QB high one year mean you can't draft one highly the next year? If he plays his rookie year, he got a chance. If he didn't play, the hole is still there since you can't know if he is the guy or not yet. And according to you, they should draft another QB in the first. But wait, now you are saying we have to give the first guy his chance, so should the team take a different position in the draft or not? Edit: Oh yeah, the last two superbowl winning teams built the team before they got their QB.
  7. And what if the QB plays like most other rookie QBs have? Not good or bad enough for you to tell one way or the other? Should they still take another QB the next year?
  8. What if Cam didn't play well though? Should Carolina have drafted another QB Cam's second year or should Ron and Co have given him more time? If Lawrence plays poorly, should the Jags draft another QB next year or should they continue to surround him with better players? From what you stated teams that need a QB should be spending their first round picks on QBs until they find their guy so by that logic the answer is yes, both teams should keep drafting QBs instead of giving those guys another chance. Trubisky is going into his fourth year and the Bears' braintrust are wanting to hang on to their jobs, so of course, they drafted another QB to buy more time. And if Fields plays poorly does Chicago draft another QB next year? Again, your logic about using first round picks on QBs says they should. You are assuming the Panthers don't view Darnold as their guy because you don't view him that way. They seem to think Darnold is their guy and that Fields wasn't worth the pick.
  9. I disagree. Not all prospects play at a high level right out of the gate. Sometimes it takes guys more than one season to put it together, especially if they were drafted by a bad team. Taking another QB in round one right after you drafted one the previous year is a huge waste of draft capital that could be used to get your young QB a WR, LT, or whatever else. You have to give them a fair shake before you move on to the next one. And trading a first round QB for a lower pick a year later is a waste of resources if you can trade him at all.
  10. You get to be LT! And you get to be LT!
  11. You'll get a Thursday night game and like it too! Just kidding. I thought it was a mandate that every team gets one of those so the NFL can say every team gets a national primetime game.
  12. The Nuggets don't need the refs' help, but they are getting it.
  13. Fun game, but the Hornets have zero defense unless it is a lucky steal.
  14. I understand Biz not looking for a lot of shots as he knows that isn't his game. Cody though, he can score fairly easily when he wants to. He's just always been too happy to pass the ball and set a screen.
  15. Cody should have taken that mid range shot. He was wide open.
  16. This is the first time I can remember that JB has gotten tossed.
  17. The Hornets have surprised me and made a game of it. I'm glad I was wrong.
  18. Even if they have the firepower to come back, they don't have the defense.
  19. Terrible start and it feels like this one is all but over already.
  20. Pretty sure Tepper bought the ship and has already said he wants a long cruise. Rhule, who is known for rebuilds, was hired to steer the ship. The GM was brought in to help navigate their long course.
  21. I answered the question. If you're not happy with the answer then that is on you.
