So, once a decade making the superbowl or more wins including back to back winning seasons, which should been more playoff appearances? More chances in the playoffs means more chances of getting to the superbowl. I'll take option 2. Elway, Young, Roethlisberger, Moon, and McNair all played very similar to how Cam plays. And in case you want to say they more scrambling QBs than guys used as a RB. That guy that gave the Panthers fits for years that played in Atlanta named Vick would like a word with you.

Just because I'm not saying Cam is the greatest ever doesn't mean I don't appreciate what he did. We're human, that includes Cam, all we can do is be good for the most part. Nobody is perfect.

True, it's just football. Never said it was life or death or anything to get upset about. As for it being entertainment, the key word is entertain. Watching "your" team lose is not fun. Generally if people invest any emotion or time into something, they like for it to pay off. With football, that means wins. The last few years under Ron Panther games have been background noise while I do other things like reading, playing a game, working, or writing, than something I actively watch. I paid a little more attention last year since there was a new coaching staff. I'll probably do the same this year.

I give them their due when they earn it. As for missing out, is losing fun? It's hard to be pumped up for a big play when the team loses the game.

A few good years between and one being mostly good, one mostly above average, and one average is about the same thing because all that matters is 7 winning seasons with zero back to back winning seasons out of all their years here. Cam did not revolutionize the way teams view QBs. Warren Moon, Steve Young, Steve McNair, and John Elway all played similar styles years before Cam. So does Ben R in Pittsburgh. Not a ton of yards in through the air, not a ton of TDs, and a pedestrian completion percentage from all three. Not too good. But once again, the only thing that matters is 7 winning seasons out of those 18 years. That's not pretty good either. Have a good night.

The QBs are partly at fault just like the GMs, coaches, and rest of the rosters have been. The QB gets a larger share of the credit or blame because the offense runs through him. He is one of two players that touches the ball every snap while on offense. That's just the way the game is played. Yes, the Panthers have had a lot of bottom shelf talent to go along with some of the good talent they have had over the years. Until the new regime came in, the Panthers focused on the Dline, linebackers, and runningbacks more than anywhere else. Those three areas are also where the team has had most of its better players too. Cam was a good QB for the most part during his time here. Jake was above average to fairly good for a while, Steve was average to maybe above average, and all the others were meh at best. That's not downplaying them either. It's giving an honest assessment that you don't agree with. The Panthers have rarely put a lot into the position. That's probably because previous regimes and ownership wanted old school defense and running than a QB that could carry the team. Cam being the exception and then they didn't give him a lot to work with.

Yep. The Panthers have had a little success, but for the most part the team and QBs haven't. I wish more people would realize that it's ok to admit while still being a fan instead of being a homer all the time.

I'll disagree. Cam had some really good years as a Panther, but he never really improved on things he needed to improve on. He always had a tough time throwing with touch, short passes, and setting his feet while here. Part of that is on him. The rest is on the Panthers for not helping him improve those things or providing a good Oline.

One winning season with Steve, three with Jake, and three with Cam. Despite individual records, that is more bad than good since QB is such a huge part of the NFL.

All that because you said there was a lengthy list of failed QBs with potential. That list proves there is not a lengthy list or a lot of potential. The QB situation here has always been more bad than good.

I listed every QB I can recall playing for the Panthers and asked how where was the potential that was not lived up to. Cam was one of the only QBs that can be said had potential that wasn't lived up to despite what success he had.

What lengthy list of failed quarterbacks with potential? Frank Reich? 10 year vet journeyman when he signed with the team. Kerry Collins? Drafted by the Panthers in the first round. He should be on your list. Steve Beuerlein? 9 year vet journeyman when he signed with the team. Pressed into the starting role when Collins quit. Chris Weinke? Fourth round older rookie(26) drafted by the Panthers. Only won 2 games. Didn't have much potential. Matt Lytle? Was a third string backup. Dameyune Craig? Undrafted rookie that signed with Carolina. Was never more than a backup in the NFL. Rodney Peete? Was a 37 year old journeyman when he signed with Carolina. Randy Fasani? Fifth rounder drafted by the Panthers. Only played 4 games. Jake Delhomme? 7 year backup when he signed with the Panthers. Vinny Testaverde? Was signed out of retirement. David Carr? Was a 5 year vet when he signed with the Panthers to be a backup. He was done mentally at this point. Matt Moore? Undrafted rookie claimed off waviers by Carolina to be a third string backup. Brian St Pierre? Another vet backup journeyman. Cam Newton? He should be on your list. Was really good, but never quite put it all together. Derek Anderson? Once again, a vet journeyman. Taylor Heinicke? Undrafted 3 year vet claimed off waivers to be a third string backup. Kyle Allen? Undrafted rookie signed by the Panthers to be a backup after Cam's season ended. Will Grier? He can make your list. He was a third round draft pick. Teddy Bridgewater? Six year vet signed to be Cam's replacement. PJ Walker? 4 year undrafted backup. Sam Darnold? He makes your list too. 3 year former first round pick. The biggest worry with Darnold should be if he is done mentally or not like Carr was. That is not a lengthy list nor one filled with guys that had potential. Most were vet journeymen that were little more than backups or guys that were just washed up.

Again? Didn't this just happen before the trade deadline?

If there is a guy available that they really want, take him at 11. If there isn't a guy they really love, then yeah, trade out if they get a good deal.

Yes. If guys like Deandre Jordan can have long careers in today's nba, then a Shaq like player would as well. If there were more Shaq style players, then maybe the nba wouldn't be so three point happy.

We'll just have to disagree. Bradberry was better than Norman, but neither were ever shutdown as Panthers. Norman had a great start to 2015, but trailed off as the season went. David Amerson, Marcus Peters, and several others had better overall seasons.

By what measurement? Passes defensed? Others did better. Interceptions? Others had more. Yards allowed? Others allowed less. Tackles? Others had more. Norman played well the first part of that year but trailed off once he knew he would get paid.
