This isn't a great draft to have a top ten pick though. Where are the top flight QBs, WRs, and DEs? There are no Lucks, Newtons, Jones, Rices, or Peppers that teams will want to jump up for. There are the top two or three tackles, but they may well be gone before the Panthers pick. A quality center impacts everything the offense does and the Panthers just happen to need one of those amongst all their other needs. Linderbaum is supposed to be the top O-line prospect in this draft regardless of position. I said in another thread that Kalil in hindsight was worth a top pick based off the 12 years he gave the Panthers as their starting center. If Linderbaum can do a decade or more too, take him at 6 and be happy.

Do you think it's getting harder and harder to find good NFL quality O-linemen? Do you think Linderbaum can be a good to great center in the NFL? Teams are coveting their O-line talent these days. If the answer to one or both of those questions is yes, then you take him at 6 and don't worry about points, positional value, or anything else.

I know you're a huge Cam homer, but at least do a little research and tell the truth. Newton did not have more TDs in NE in 2020 than Brady did in 2019, which was his last season there. Newton threw for 8 TDs and rushed for 12 more which adds up to 20. Brady threw for 24 TDs and rushed for 3 more which adds up to 27.

Nope. The architects of the mess that is the Carolina Panthers, Tepper and Rhule, will still be in charge. Plus Brown and Brady are probably not true starting caliber NFL players. Brady may end up a good backup though.

I agree with you. That said, I could see how things happened this way. I don't remember the Darnold timeline, but if they were high on Sam and talking with the Jets at the same time as they were talking with the Lions, maybe they were weighing older proven vet QB vs bad young QB that hadn't reached his potential with the corner they wanted for the defense. And since these guys seem to always make the wrong decisions, they lost out.

Weak draft or not, I could see a team being willing to move up for one of the top Oline prospects. That said, doing that trade means Carolina once again misses out on a true game changer in favor of more lesser talent. Not only would that be a total Panthers thing to do, it would suck.
