I see your point too. If the NFL ever goes the NBA route and start letting teams that a player is drafted by offer more(Max and Super Max deals) than other teams, you'll see a huge shift in guys never wanting to hit free agency unless they want to chase a ring.

I agree about keeping your own being smart. I agree about the players being a known commodity. I disagree about it costing less. These guys are pros, have a good idea of what they are worth, and know most of them have a limited time to make money playing football. Players leave teams all the time for more money than their old team is willing to pay.

I'd like to believe they are smart enough to draft top talent next year if the Oline proves to be an issue this year. They proved to be smart enough to take a top CB when that position has been poorly addressed for years. That gives me some hope.

Yep. Plus if what Mr Scott said about his wife is true, well, the decision would be even easier. Hopefully in 5-7 years, the Panthers have their franchise QB and won't need a Prescott, Watson, or whoever. And maybe a franchise LT too.

Stafford has played for a long time now(13 pro seasons) and made a lot of money doing so. He is probably looking short term at this point and might not want to play beyond his current contract. Going to a team that is ready to win it now or in the next year or two makes a lot more sense for him than going to a team that is rebuilding like the Panthers. Don't take his decision personally. It's not like he insulted you.

Not his loss. The Rams are a lot further along than the Panthers and are a lot more ready to compete. He made a good decision for himself at this point in his career. As Sho'nuff stated, it is what it is.

Yep. I know there are a lot of people here thinking the Panthers could get into the playoffs this season, but I think it'll be at least another season before that happens, probably two seasons. The Oline and QB are still question marks. So is kicker. Honestly the Oline worries me more than the QB does. Beyond that the defense has holes still and depth in general is a concern.

The last time the Panthers had a really good stable of WRs were the Smitty, Moose, and Proehl days. And that was such a long time ago. As for the contract, good for Robbie getting paid.
