How's it ridiculous? History is history right? Facts are facts. Slavery was running on all cylinders in the United States well before states rights into slavery existed. Here is a fact also. A lot of Union troops didn't give two craps about slavery. Racism was just as bad in the UNion Army as was in the CSA army. Why do you think it took until almost into 1863 for the Union to finally give blacks a regiment? Hell the U.S. Govt were paying black soldiers less money than white soldiers during the war. How is that not racism. It's a two way street. A good majority were fighting to protect the Union and didn't care about African Americans.

Tiger7_88 your numbers are all out of whack. Close to 620,000 casualties were accumulated during the civil war. that is including deaths,wounded,died of disease. How about you stick to Panther talk and let people who have studied history stick to the facts. Run along you must of pulled those numbers out your ass. union casualties 110,000 KIA 360,000 total dead 272,000 wounded with your logic I guess we should say the same to native Americans right? Only the victors right history right?

1st the flag, then they will move to monuments on civil war battlefields. You want the flag down...fine, but don't start messing with history.

If you want to get technical, both flags shown are the "1st national flag" and the battle flag that the army of the tenn. used during the war. The army of northern Virginia used the flag that is more square with a white border. CSA had 3 national flags all together. Army of northern Virginia never used the one above and that is a popular misconception.

Since we can't be hypocrites, let's start taking the American Flag down also. Slavery was alive and well under the Stars and Stripes. I just find find it very comical that everybody thinks taking down 1 flag is going to solve all our racial problems in this country. It's like the flag walked into the church and did the crime.
