Always felt like we could never be a consistent contender under the previous regimes especially the general managers. You can't build teams drafting so poorly and having multiple drafts were you get hit on one player and nothing else(2011, 14-16) and poor cap management I've never felt better about the long term future of the team

All coaches control the final 53. Coaches usually identify the "type" of players they want and the GM usually goes out and gets them in any good coach/gm relationship. Fitts is far from a figurehead and completely runs the draft and free agency. He engineered all the draft trades, draft confidential on panthers.com made that quite clear.

No way I'd trade more than 1 pick for a LT. No reason to trade our future for immediate gain, we need to keep building thru the draft and need those picks to keep filling out our roster.
