The QB School : Breaking down AR and Levis
raleigh-panther replied to Your GFs favorite huddler's topic in Carolina Panthers
As I recall, most pundits were not overly kind to cam Newton either Some things can be taught, some can’t I want someone who shines under the bright lights, not shrinks if ever there was a shrinker besides Blaine Gabbert, the player many wanted the Panthers to take over Newton, it’s Will Levi’s IMHO -

Once, in 26 years Once I would not exactly say a team was built for Newton I would say that Clausen was so freaking abysmal they had to take someone or the fans weren’t going to show up I know I was one of those paying fans so bad, they had the number one pick that year they went with someone that everyone thought would fail. They took a chance -

The year before, wait for the next Qb class. In that year, not one worth it bank in it year after year after year after year same thing with Panther GMs and salary cap it’s time. the 49ers won games with Brock freaking purdy for god sake there are 8 rated QBs in this draft. Get one If Stroud is the one get him do something -

It’s cbs Not me Their view The point is, a trade up is doable there are those who see a lot of intelligence and ball placement with Bryce I prefer stroud or AR. I’m a nobody. I wanted fields last year im not a Levis fan at all I’ll gladly trust Reich’s opinion as to what to do even if it’s Levis frankly, I’m sure Reich already knows who wants With Brady retiring, even more competition however. -

From cbs sports line NFL MOCK DRAFT Round 1 Mock Trade from Chicago Bears Round 1 - Pick 1 Bryce Young QB ALABAMA • JR • 6'0" / 194 LBS PROJECTED TEAM Carolina PROSPECT RNK 3rd POSITION RNK 1st Carolina traded up to No. 3 overall and then to No. 1 overall. It is a similar model that Philadelphia used to select Carson Wentz in 2016. Philadelphia sent players, including Kiko Alonso and the No. 13 overall selection to Miami in exchange for the No. 8 overall selection. Then, it flipped that to Cleveland for the No. 2 overall selection. With the No. 1 overall selection, the Panthers select Bryce Young. Round 1 - Pick 2 C.J. Stroud QB OHIO STATE • JR • 6'3" / 218 LBS PROJECTED TEAM Houston PROSPECT RNK 4th POSITION RNK 2nd Houston does not get its pick of quarterback at No. 2 overall, but C.J. Stroud could still prove to be an elite talent. Mock Trade from Arizona Cardinals Round 1 - Pick 3 Will Anderson Jr. EDGE ALABAMA • JR • 6'4" / 243 LBS PROJECTED TEAM Chicago PROSPECT RNK 1st POSITION RNK 1st Chicago attempts to upgrade its pass rush with the selection of Will Anderson Jr. The Bears want to move back from No. 1 overall without sacrificing the chance to select a top defensive talent like Jalen Carter or Anderson. A three-way trade with Carolina and Arizona makes that possible as the Cardinals trade back to pick up additional draft capital in Monti Ossenfort's first year. -

2023. Number 9 the highest of the 2s 2024 1 Shaq Thompson -
I agree I don’t pay much attention to the Irsay decisions the Colts I swear I think the guy is either drinking or using again Tepper ain’t perfect as an owner but sure as hell isn’t Irsay

Yes. Same story every year. Go back and look who could have been drafted had fox drafted one when he knew jake’s elbow was shot…the QBs that fox passed on…god almighty Same when Rivera knew Newton’s shoulder was done I have faith that under Reich there will be no drafting a rb or qb, when it is a qb and decent backup needed in that an room the colts were a mess under that owner and GM It will be different here over the years of failure by the Panthers, not having a qb is the common denominator teams with sustained excellence had one

To be fair, that massive hit to Field’s rib cage in the Clemson game probably helped that ‘struggling’ against Bama I have no idea how Fields got up from that hit. Adrenaline and youth -
Reich’s description of a QB: It’s basically Corral
raleigh-panther replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well…being a rookie qb under Rhule …who knows seems a few young players didn’t get a lot of opportunities in practice under that guy Corral isn’t the same category as #1s Young or Stroud or AR in any case then again, neither was Purdy last year With coaching that worked out -
He and Wilson….quite the pair
-
Stroud has the size, the arm, the accuracy and the footwork I like AR but needs work. We all know this Bryce is a playmaker but I just cannot see that frame holding up in the nfl not big on Levis. Guy shrinks in the spotlight and the nfl is a spotlight every week, it’s just that some weeks are brighter than others get stroud this year and Harrison JR next year and things will look a whole lot better in Charlotte
-
As Gil Brandt said ‘if you don’t have a Qb, you have no chance’ he also said a draft interview a couple of years ago, ‘if there is a qb you believe in, you go get him period’ vs (paraphrased) waiting and taking the chance that another team ahead of you values him the qb in this era will define the Panthers Reich knows a lot more about QBs than any of us on here could begin to understand we will also see how good of a GM ole Scott is

The poster was quoting other huddlers who always say ‘next years qb draft is the greatest ever‘ until the year gets here kinda like every GM the Panthers have ever had ‘next year we are out of salary cap jail and we can do soooooo much more’
-
Lol they might as well be a 3rd, 4th, 5th vs 2, 3, 4 as they are so late in position
-
What did the Panthers achieve with him ? I could give a rats ass about the 49ers

Panthers Let the Great Be the Enemy of the Good.

And no QB …and McAdoo as coordinator and no number 2 receiver, and no pass catching TE, and only one rushing DE, and 2nd and 3rd string CBs, and LBs that are mediocre that’s a lot of ‘ands’ never a better recipe for disaster in the NFL -
Joe Person on possible coordinator candidates

I didn’t like Holcomb as DC. the more I saw, the less I liked I like coach Wilks. But were Holcomb is concerned, he needs to take his own advice from the ‘buddy vs friend’ perspective granted there were few coaches left on staff post Rhule, but it was pretty clear Al would have been his DC going forward. Truthfully, and I remember when Wilks finally became DC for Rivera…it wasn’t that great. But it is time for an offensive coach as the Tampa game clearly showed…and a real qb and qb room, a true complimentary speed WR for DJ and last but not least, a TE without hands of stone -
Yep reich also seems pretty damned good at spotting good, young coordinators this hire by Tepper is about stabilization of the franchise now and setting up for Reich’s successor the posters complaining seem to forget how the Eagles HC and OC feel about him it’s called “tactical to strategic’ planning Tepper should have done this the first time. He learned as far as Wilks, great man put in a bad circumstance but those short 4th downs that he refused to go for, with 3rd string cbs that he knew, or should surely have known, Brady would dice up, with everything to gain and nothing to lose, he punted. That was it for me. Shades of John fox No desire to see that movie again.

Coaching Interview Thread IV: A New Hope
raleigh-panther replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
In 15 years, Tepper could be dead and his wife assume. She seems to actually like the city, the fans and the team …or we could be dead also and it won’t matter in any case Live for the day At least there is a team here to love, hate or bitch about
