Luke Kuechly in Buffalo Bills gear
raleigh-panther replied to Carl Spackler's topic in Carolina Panthers
I loved Luke. How could any fan not ? he had lost a step. It was obvious to him and everyone and that’s why he left because even with a lost step he was still better than 99% but not to his standards, and, of course, his health there will never be another Luke, never it hurts to see him in Bills gear but he is a grown man. He can do what he wants I don’t know about Tepper I really don’t care for him much but it doesn’t matter I can buy into what he sells or walk away. In this case, imho, it had little to do with Luke’s decision other than ancillary -

Me as well. This isn’t plug and play in the NCAA Go find a game manager to execute some variety of Sean Payton’s offense…as if copying someone else’s system is that easy That’s the nfl from 20 years ago what happens when Brady bails as he will….I just don’t see what they are doing Rhule, and Brady, are very green NFL coaches and it showed mightily last year. He has no excuses this year The players he wanted. The GM he wanted Second year. Full OTAs, training camp, etc. What appears to be an easy schedule. He best come out of this year at 8 wins and a few of those against quality teams
-
It does only because Fields was sitting there for Rhule to take, he didn’t it’s not like this franchise has had many franchise QB1s, so passing on a potential one, particularly one with the athletic skill to make up for a poor line, for someone who was PFF’s what, 39th ranked starting nfl QBs, doesn’t inspire confidence These QB decisions in a QB driven league will define Rhule’s tenor in Charlotte or how long that tenor might be. who knows, maybe Darnold is an incognito QB1 and Rhule is a genius. Time will tell

Pretty salty over observations in a thread you didn’t need to join knowing the topic
-
That’s how I feel. He is a tough guy, a football player. He will have his good and bad games but what he has, the guts and physical ability, it can’t be taught
-
So did the NFL Channel crew but hey you know, we see what we look for right he lead them to a score to end the half, with little time left, so for his first nfl action, with the second time, pretty good.
-
He looked pretty damned good leading to a FG with less than 10 seconds left in the half. Moving the picket et al

Matt Rhule after SECOND Joint Practice with the Colts
raleigh-panther replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would hope as a pro HC , a pro OL coach and a pro GM, that collective group, already know their OL rotation. If they don’t, they shouldn’t be here. what they also know is several of those players, that they bought low as Kmart blue light specials, have injury histories and that is also why they are not playing 1st string tomorrow They have to last thru 17 games I suspect the ones will play 1st quarter of preseason game 3 at home and that’s it Might as well cool jets, as that is how Rhule is most likely going to do business Reminder, they performed collectively pretty well last year without any preseason and a new coaching staff and offense -
he changes tone a lot. Pick any player, coach or subject he talks a lot too.

Everyone grows. It’s a question of how much and how long it takes Add to it, this is pro sports, the highest level. Even the best college QBs, Heisman winners, fail at this level. It is survivor of the fittest in the NFL for all the talk of ‘patience’ and other such pablum from Tepper and Rhule, IMHO, Darnold has one year and in that one year, Mccafrey grows older, Anderson’s contract runs out, and then Moore’s AND IF Darnold fails, another start over? Tepper didn’t become a billionaire because of patience He wants a new stadium. Winners hav a better chance of that.
-
..and then, don’t pass on every damned lineman in the league….the first two rds
-
Supporting Darnold really isn’t the issue or the concern He is the QB, no choice because of decisions made He is the Panthers starter The decisions made that brought him here is the concern. Darnold is what he is just like every other QB in the League

It is going to be very interesting to see this play out. Fields took the most wicked shot to his torso and ribs that I have ever seen on a football field He then comes back in the game and totally guts a top 3 opponent in the biggest game of the year. I have no idea how he even played in the Championship game the NFL is a tough guy’s sport. Give me someone like that over many QBs every day of the week and twice on Sunday John Madden ‘big time players make big plays in big games.” Madden’s statement is simple and true. If you don’t have that at QB, in the NFL, you have nothing in this era of pro football Until I see Darnold step up, execute, from behind against a top caliber opponent in a game that matters, he is ‘just a guy ‘. Look at the playoffs, not many ‘just a guy’ in that mix.
-
You know it. You and I have lived through all of the recycled QBs from coaches who thought what the had was enough The number of QBs, Fox alone, passed on in free agency (Brees cones immediately to mind) and the draft is sad when you have a chance at Fields you take it, big pla for a big school in big games. Darnold never achieved that level horn is a nice CB, but he neither sells tickets or touches the ball the way a QB does
-
Wow. Just wow there are times when I have many concerns with Rhule’s oline and QB philosophy this, is one of them.
-
The one position they knew they had to fill. they didn’t. Some would say QB is also in that category its mind boggling…not the fully new regime this year and not the combination of Rhule and Hurney last year No point in talking about the wasteland of years in between since Gross Horn is a fine player, no question but again, two most important positions on the field are question marks. For modern Nfl teams those positions are the cornerstones move moton to the left and the right is weakened Keep him at the right and that almost certainly means two TE sets or extra blocking in play formation or Darnold will be what he was in NY fitterer and Rhule are paid to form a team, I guess we will see how patient Tepper really is

Panthers Training Camp - Monday Camp Thread
raleigh-panther replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
So so bad I did laugh however because I’m shallow -
in the NFL, a team has a LT or it doesn’t in the NFL, a team has a QB or it doesn’t Those that do, win and those that do not, lose Do the Panthers have LT or QB? No one knows Tepper invested 65 million in Rhule and Tepper talks patience I don’t believe it if this conversation is still being had in year three, Rhule won’t be here and he shouldn’t be. He passed on LTs. He passed on QBs. This isn’t the NCAA where you can coach up meager talent and win.

Great write up. Thank you

Rhule on QB (Darnold) & my translation.
raleigh-panther replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
He didn’t under perform. He is what he has always been The biggest winner was NO for dumping him off on a division rival…knowing Brees was retiring, they chose to keep a Winston and Hill instead and don’t say, they didn’t have cap room, Payton always finds room for players they want. -
Former Panther Kelvin Benjamin's attitude...
raleigh-panther replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
All I know is had he made any effort to either catch Newton’s pass or knock it away in the end zone, Newton’s shoulder would not be screwed up no use for Benjamin.
