Charlie Campbell definitely has a source inside the organization. He's called the last 4 1st round draft picks and was the only analyst to say the Panthers were taking Horn over any other player last year, even the Huddle didn't predict that. He also said the Panthers were passing on Slater because they don't think he has the measurables for a tackle and it was too high to take a guard during the draft last year, 10 full months before Rhule said it on the radio. So, this is very troubling indeed. Head coaches should have input on drafts but not final say. It seems like Rhule wants to be GM rather than coach.

So? Lots of QB's have gone 6/6 for 89 yards. Darnold had a few first quarters like that this year. He was still garbage. There's no poise there. Pickett looks a lot like Darnold did. Howell is okay I guess, but doesn't wow me. Eye test, these QB's don't have it, and none of them are worthy of a top 10 pick. Despite us having the NFL's worst collection of QB's currently, I certainly would NOT waste it on any of these jags. Like I was really low on Fields and Jones and Lance last year, and didn't want to pick one in the top 10, but these guys are all a tier or two or even three below even those guys. I think the bust potential is greater than 80%. And for a coach and GM needing to make a home run, that's an awful large gamble to make.

Wow, these QB's are bad. Got a discount Blaine Gabbert, a discount EJ Manuel, a discount Baker Mayfield, and a Will Grier clone out here. We are fuged

On what? I'm pointing out how dumb teams are to just hire the people that happened to coach legendary QB's like the Broncos hiring the Packers OC and the Giants the Bills OC. It'd be the same if the Panthers went after Bieniemy. It's far more impressive to coach your way to a top offense with Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts than ride off the coat tails of Mahomes and Allen bailing your shitty offense out
-
NFL teams that hire people that were only successful becuase they had a top 5 QB doing all the work for them, wow, what an incredibly smart hire. When will teams ever learn. That's why the Giants will continue to suck and be looking for a new coaching staff in a few years. They do the same dumb poo over and over. Do they seriously think Daboll or Kafka would be as successful with Daniel Jones as they were with freaking Mahomes or Allen? I'm sure Matt Rhule would have done just as well as Bienemy or Kafka as the Chiefs OC or QB coach.

What is it with wanting OC's that have legendary QBs? Do you really think they'll be good here with QB's that some college teams have more talent at the position group? Maybe, just maybe, its Rodgers, Allen, Mahomes, and Brady that make those offenses and not the offensive coordinator.

What, nobody remembers when I created "firemiketrgovac.com", linked my ytmnd to it (so 2006), and got called out by one of Mike's family members who tried to defend him and saying it wasn't his fault? https://firemiketrgovac.ytmnd.com/

Sam Darnold could play behind the NFC Pro Bowl offensive line for a full season we'd still have a terrible offense. Get the quarterback, then figure out the rest later.

I think trading back to the late teens, getting a 2nd and a 3rd, and taking Willis, Pickett or Howell is the best option. Doubtful all three are taken in the top 20.

It's amazing how much Darnold is the anti-Burrow Joe could bite off a fingernail and spit it out and that fingernail has more swag and poise than Darnold

Trading Back-What could we get for the #6 pick? Is it worth it?
amcoolio replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agree but they can spin it that "they gave up nothing for Darnold in the long run" They've already done some of that "GM speak" last draft -
Sean Payton Officially Steps Away From Saints
amcoolio replied to PantherBoy95's topic in Carolina Panthers
70% He's coaching the Cowboys next season 29% He's on TV for a year then coaching the Cowboys in 2023 1% The Raiders throw a ridiculous 100M/6 year contract and he's coaching the Raiders -

I would trade deep into the teens and get our 2nd and 3rd back. There is plenty of talent and probably some QB's that will fall. -
100% chance @BurnNChinn will be the first guy to post "The Panthers will win a SB and its because of Tepper" the moment we go on a 3 game win streak This board is extreme bipolar, I've never seen anything like it
-
Have you ever hated this team more than right now?
amcoolio replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly. All these jags will act like this never happened when we start winning again. There is a lot of "talking out of your ass" syndrome on the huddle right now -
Bruce Arians has always been a really dumb coach, just got carried to a SB win last year by Brady and a historically talented offense and defense
-
A dose of optimism and why Matt Rhule is great for Tepper
amcoolio replied to Snake's topic in Carolina Panthers
None of that matters. Only a franchise QB matters. Get a top 10 QB and the huddle turns from doom and gloom to everything is happy, regardless of the damn owner of the team or the coach. We had the league's best offense with JERRY RICHARDSON AND MIKE SHULA of all people. -
Not true, if we had Burrow we'd be every bit as good as the Bengals That is why teams trade tons of resources for a QB, because if they hit, they are good and can figure out the rest later Fields and Mac Jones aren't in the same realm as Burrow The fact we won 5 games without any NFL caliber QB's speaks to the team we have. The same league-leading Packers team with Sam Darnold instead of Rodgers would have won 5 games or less.

After today, everyone should understand you need a QB
amcoolio replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. I am not an emotional child like most of the huddle. -

I didn't say it was a good offensive line, but our QB's were horrid irregardless of the line. It's a lazy excuse. Burrow would have done just fine behind this line this season.
