Which Positions Have The Panthers Improved Most This Off Season
PandaMan replied to KatsAzz's topic in Carolina Panthers
Simply losing Whitehead was a net positive on the LB corps. I’m actually pretty excited about this CB group, but Jackson worries me. I think he would be great in the slot, however, I remember reading something awhile back about him adamantly wanting to be on the outside. I guess we’ll see what happens. As for QB, is truly an upgrade? Who knows, but at least it’ll be more exciting. I’m just along for the ride. -
I think Sproles fits in the Hall of Very Good. The fact that he was so good for so long despite his small stature is really impressive. Great player, but not HoF.

NFL Network showing Panthers games this morning.
PandaMan replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was in a good mood when that day started, but by the end I was laying in a field outside my friend’s house asking the aliens to take me away. I don’t drink Fighting Cock anymore, but thankfully it fogged many of the memories of that game. -
Luke is getting in. Best MLB of the decade. Calvin Johnson getting in so soon after his short, albeit stellar career has me feeling good about the chances. WR is backlogged with great talent, so it tells me they value high peaks more than longevity.

anyone you recall who was cut and turned into a decent player on another team?
-
He did much better than I thought he would last year and made some great catches. Thought he was just a deep threat but he’s a complete WR. Worst part was it seemed like Teddy locked in on Robby too much when other guys were open. It would’ve sucked to lose him. I think he’ll have another great year.

I’m not so sure, according to this he just realized that offensive weapons are useful. In 2031 when he realizes the shift in defense, yeah he’ll probably go nuts. I do agree with the shift, though. I think we’ll see a lot of nickel defense this year from us.

Clausen has to be the closest, he may even be #1. He was probably the worst QB I’ve ever seen. Armanti Edwards flamed out but at least he’s still playing in the CFL
-
At least Otah was solid when he was on the field, he just couldn’t stay healthy. Greg Little is a hot mess. CMC looking really smooth can’t wait to see the Shi Smith reception. He made some really impressive catches in college.

Yeah, Cowherd has a lot of bad takes and this one always stood out. I thought it was so funny. Trunky? Like, what? I listened to Sam give his first interview here and he just sounded like a beach bro and like someone I want to be my friend, honestly.

Trying to steer clear of the obvious choices. High: Dan Arnold. With the increasingly disappointing showings that Ian Thomas has given us, I think we’ve forgotten what good TE play is like. I’m pretty high on Arnold having a great year. Will he be as good as prime Olsen? No, but 750 yards would be fantastic considering what we’ve had at the position since Olsen started getting hurt, and I think he’s capable of it. This is a very slept on signing by a lot of folks. Not sure: AJ Bouye. He’s shown he’s able to play at an elite level, but I think his best days are behind him. He may surprise me, but he’ll be 30 when the season starts and had a bad, injury-riddled year last year. I am not expecting too much, but he may shock us. I’d love it if he balled out. Just no: Greg Little. I looked over the roster as it stands and tried not to pick Little, but there’s simply not a player we have under contract that I believe in as little as Little. I don’t think he’ll be on the team in 2022 and was a horrible pick.

Julio -Tells Shannon Sharpe on live TV- "Im outta there (ATL)"
PandaMan replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it’s filmed in LA, but California is also a two party consent state. If Julio wanted to he could actually pursue this and it’s literally caught on film. Open and shut case. I doubt he will, but damn. Pretty sleazy by Sharpe. -
Need to get the seismographs ready in Charlotte edit- really excited to see DJ go against Jaycee. Well, “see” in a proverbial sense I guess. Burns will probably shred Christensen but I think he’ll turn out well if he can rebound. Really happy with all the young talent this team has. Not too long ago we were the Graybeards of the NFL, old vets everywhere.

Grier thoughts on Darnold (conversation from other thread)
PandaMan replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I was mostly just focused on the first paragraph where he said he knows this could be it for him. At least he’s self aware. Everything said about Sam so far has been good. I’m sure the team is happy to have him after so many frustrating losses where it seemed hopeless for a comeback win. I think with actual coaching Sam can be pretty good. His attitude’s definitely in the right place. Gase was his QB coach, OC, and HC last year. Yikes. -
Grier thoughts on Darnold (conversation from other thread)
PandaMan replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unless he’s shown tremendous improvement, I don’t see him being on the roster after this year (if he even makes the roster at all). He was very, very bad and last year’s weird offseason didn’t help his development any. -
Hate hearing that. I’m sorry for their loss, even though words do nothing in a time like that. I honestly thought TJ was out of the woods, so this is pretty surprising. Poor guy has had a rough start to life but it’s good he has such a great family around him.

We finally got our thick, trunky coastal kid with a Midwest ethos

Ron "learning from his mistakes" in Carolina
PandaMan replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Classic Ron. Learning a lesson, once again, way too late. And it’s debatable if he actually learns anything. He seems to make the same mistakes over and over. I’m sure WFT fans will have this same mindset given time. -
I’m expecting Little to not be on the team by the end of the season. He’s basically shown nothing when he’s on the field and has been injury prone on top of that. He is baaaaad, and not Michael Jackson bad. Simply bad. if we’re able to get three starting OL from in one draft, especially two of them being 6th round and UDFA, I’ll have a poster of Fitterer’s face made and nail it to the ceiling above my bed. I’ll go to sleep with a hog mollie smile every night. The guards are hyped up in my mind but I’m trying to not get my hopes up. I think Christensen can play LT at this level as well but maybe I have the rose colored glasses on. The main question with him is arm length. If he’s fundamentally sound I don’t think it will be a problem. I’m actually excited about the OL for once

2021 Carolina Panthers Schedule and some thoughts on it
PandaMan replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Can’t wait to see Beelzebub on the treadmill this fall I like the schedule overall. Wish the bye was smack in the middle of the season, but we’ll see how it goes. Tough slate to end the season, but if we’re clicking we can take quite a few of those. -
NFL Projecting the Panthers #2
PandaMan replied to Little Goody Two Shoes's topic in Carolina Panthers
If anything, considering our lack of winning over the past few years, they’re assuming the division is locked in by that point and they’re giving the Bucs some easy games before the playoffs. It probably means nothing, though -
That’s dedication, man. After a season that great and a home NFC Championship game, I probably woulda done the exact same. Sounds like you have a good friend, too. Thankfully the game didn’t disappoint!!

Me and my friend were way up in the 500 level haha, we were on the endzone opposite where Philly Brown got that long TD. That’s the play I remember the most, the whole stadium just erupted. Watching that guy run and knowing we had the game in in the bag already, it was so cool. I miss having a team with that swagger
