“Pretty good living” until you realize financial literacy isn’t taught in schools and a lot of these players have no idea what it’s like having money until their first check clears. I don’t blame the players, I blame those who failed to teach them how to handle money properly, which a lot of players don’t have growing up.

I mean, obviously they did. But seeing it and assuming it’s happening are very different. The guy lives for football and doesn’t just talk the talk, he walks the walk and shows it. It’s cool to see from our CB1.

We had 3 guys on this list, 2 of which were on the D Line. DL is also pretty stacked this season with good, young guys and good vets in Reddick/Jones, so I don’t think we’re doing that at all. I was surprised to see YGM on here too. Glad he’s getting some props. I think he can be really good, but likely won’t really blossom until 2022.

Just 1 year I believe. He signed for less money than Cam Erving, like $4M vs $5M a year. I was surprised since he’s been a solid player for awhile, I feel like he could’ve gotten more money somewhere else. Not that I’m complaining. I’m happy to have the big guy on the team.

I think Shi Smith can turn into a really solid player, too. This is the most loaded WR room I remember us having. If the promising young guys are able to develop, this could be a really exciting year.

I’ve already seen more videos of Jaycee working out and practicing on his own than any Carolina player I can remember, aside from maybe Cam. Love how he keeps trying to improve. Might have to invest in a new jersey…

DJ is a playmaker. Sucks he’s had subpar QB play almost the whole time he’s been here, with a cannon armed QB he’d get a lot more recognition. I hope we can keep him. I was so happy when we drafted him. The play where like 2-3 Packers tried to tackle him then he ran for a ton of YAC afterwards was Smitty-esque

Looking at Who Could Emerge as WR3 for Carolina
PandaMan replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed… I’m hoping he goes the Frank Gore route and was injured a lot in college, then is an NFL bastion of health. A guy can dream, right? If Marshall shows out on the outside I think it’d be the best case scenario. Robby seems to really like the slot based on how giddy he basically was talking about it in a recent interview. -
Our stadium is decent, the recent renovations have made it a lot better. Not a bad stadium at all and the Charlotte skyline is pretty cool. Plus, those Panthers outside are badass.

Defensive Roster Changes for 2021 (Upgrade or Downgrade)
PandaMan replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Last season it was pretty widely expected we’d be one of the bottom 5 or so in the league. Losing Luke, college DC in his first NFL DC gig, rookies all over the field. It’s wild how far they’ve come in just one year. -
Defensive Roster Changes for 2021 (Upgrade or Downgrade)
PandaMan replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I think so too. Plus, our biggest problem last year was how horrible we were on 3rd down. Having those upgrades at CB and improved pressure with the young guys’ growth, we could see a huge leap in that area. It was funny last year that the first game Whitehead didn’t play in, we shut out the other team. Losing him alone improves the squad and I like the energy Perryman brings. Exciting stuff! -
Defensive Roster Changes for 2021 (Upgrade or Downgrade)
PandaMan replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kerr was solid all year but Jones is an upgrade for sure. Plus a year of experience under Derrick Brown’s belt, I’m pretty excited about the line as a whole. I think Chinn can excel at Safety. Boston whiffing on tackles is seared into my memory. Like BadCat said, I really think we improved across the board, especially at CB. I think Bouye will have a decent year and wishfully thinking that Jackson can stay healthy. And Big Bad Horn about to put the league on notice -
Sam Darnold comes in at No. 19 in Chris Simms' Quarterback rankings
PandaMan replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Phew I don’t even remember posting that but I’m with ya. Simms has been really accurate with QB draft rankings the past few years, even if a lot of what he says sounds like nonsense. Even 19th in the league would be better than what we got last year, right? Please? I just want one game winning drive -

fug it, I’ve been drinking all night and I’m just gonna say, Sam Darnold will be our quarterback for the next ten+ years. He will be a franchise guy for us. I’m in a good mood- 159 replies

This was one of my favorite interviews because Haason was giving actual answers and not all just player or coach speak. He seems like a cool guy. The input into Rhule’s coaching now vs college was cool to see. Really rooting for him this year, I was surprised we were able to sign him but he loves him some Rhule.

Panthers interested in bringing back Tre Boston?
PandaMan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d rather take a flyer on Hooker. We’ve been signing injury prone guys all offseason, why stop now? -
Rhule see’s Brady Christensen more of a RT or OG than a LT
PandaMan replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interesting. His athletic scores were elite, so I’m really interested in seeing if that and his elite play in college can overcome his short arms. Like a T-Rex blocking an Allosaurus. -

PandaMan replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
His arms are shorter than the LT minimum recommendation of like 33”, but if he can play LT, I’d love him to be a stud. He can definitely play the position as he showed at BYU. Does less of an inch matter that much? I guess we’ll see (in before my wife/gf thinks so). I think he can actually be a good LT. His athletic scores were fantastic and imo that matters more than less of an inch of arm length. He’s the guy I’m most excited about behind Horn, even more than Tremble. We’ve needed great OL players for a long time. -
I feel like Brown is being slept on, I haven’t seen much of anything on him so far in minicamp or OTA’s, but admittedly linemen can’t do much actual play without pads. I think he’s going to be key this year. I haven’t been this excited about a Kuechly-less defense in, well... ever. So much young talent.

Byron Bell sends his regards -
I don’t think they’ll move him to LT, after watching the Rhule presser it seems like they were just giving him reps to see how he did. He’s been good at RT, and nowadays it’s not always LT who gets the best pass rusher. Things are switching up all the time. But what Rhule says doesn’t always translate into reality, so who knows.

I feel like we’ll put Fletcher on the practice squad this year and let JJ ride into the sunset after the season. I remember seeing somewhere that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to come back, but ended up signing the 1 year deal. I’m hoping Shi Smith can be our return guy. Sucks he’s been hurt, he has a lot of potential.

I’m definitely in the minority, but I think Mick is hilarious. He made a comment about DeAngelo Williams’ chocolate dreads cascading down his back one time back in 2014 or so and I lost it. He’s not your run of the mill announcer, that’s for sure. Enjoy retirement fella.
