Matt Waldman's RSP Film Room: Carson Strong
rippadonn replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
70% completion for two consecutive seasons has nothing to do with lining up or "air raid" or system. Strong had full autonomy to read the defense and call the offense accordingly. If he couldn't look off receivers and hold up receivers with his eyes these amazing in-between defender lasers wouldn't work. His timing and ability to throw guys open with anticipating and general IQ is at the top of this class ahead of the curve. -

Send the Panthers to Carson Strong's pro day March 21st. Please make them immune to the Fhules Gold at the top of the QB talk. Please bless us with the next Drew Brees. -

All the intangibles. Tough minded. Played with limited mobility and put up 4186yrds 36TDS only 8INT with 70% when he wasn't "healthy" and couldn't drive with his leg. Dang, what will he be able to do after some NFL conditioning? Again, these guys talk about his ability to make all the presnap reads on his own. They talk about his accuracy and how he always puts the ball where it's supposed to be regardless of the receiver catching it or not. They marveled at how he throws guys open, zips it in there. They marveled at how accurate his deep throws are said Malik can throw it too but not with that pinpoint accuracy (70%completion). I already told you @Ricky Spanish THIS guy is a taller Drew Brees. If I have a veteran QB and I've got rookie Drew Brees healing up, learning, getting NFL conditioning, studying. He's so high IQ with that arm. That arm! Smh. Strong 2022 In the long run he's going to prove himself to be the best of this class by miles. I'd let him sit behind Cam two years or so. Aaron Rodgers famously sat behind Favre for four, five yrs. -
Hmmm. Sounds like Cam may be a special talent. Franchise QB level talent. Went to QB school in New England, back to the Panthers. It was a good 52 fake out. He got the coaching we could never give him and he comes back a stronger man, going through 4-5 reads, patient, bulldozing CB'S and LB'S, breaking records on short notice off his couch last season. Give this man a training camp with Robby and DJ and the air attack could be formidable again. Add a couple OL and TE though. I really think you can plug Cam in since he was just here and challenge for the NFCS with this defense and Wilkes back in the building and TE lover McAdoo calling the offense. If Fitts does want to sit down with Cam as reported the organization is done with "building" and trying to get a FA QB to help them win the South or better. IF they're in the FA market. I for one find Cam and his legacy more entertaining than the previous, flailing. Much more dynamic, but patient. Moreso than Sam and a lot of other guys. Having him while drafting some big armed 6'4" rookie would be a luxury and allows for legacy to be passed on properly.

If we could muster a high second rounder we could steal a QB nobody but highly analytical people would notice, this drafts sleeper. Carson Strong 2022.

Iirc he had 4000+ yards as a rookie that's more than meh, we could use some of that. -

See the ignorance from the shoulder is shot crowd who's been singing that for years was proven when the Patriots picked the man up after they gutted the roster including Brady. The Patriots loved Cam. They found a diamond in the rough in Mac Jones because teams like the Panthers miss on stuff like that. Mac is the starter and did very well as a rookie. Can't blame them The Panthers are in a different situation. They need their Brady. QB1 is that for this team. Dude trained in NE under some of the best coaches in the business. You guys are wrong about Cam. He came is like a beast last season and had he been in training camp this subversive talk would stand in the foolery it really is. Robby said they should roll with Cam this season. That means guys can stay and compete for something. This guy isn't broke down and he just hit his 30s. He proved he can still lead and he can still play off his couch. Why shouldn't he be the FA. Cam was never the problem he was usually a solution who lacked great coaching after Chud and before New England. McAdoo probably wants to talk to Cam too. He knows up close what QB1 is capable of. If everyone else does their job the Panthers could be back on top of the NFCS with 2022 seasoned, healthy, travelled Cam. -

I respect that. I'm hoping they don't do this. I'd rather positive Ace Boogie energy if we're getting a FA. We have the opportunity to get right and take the NFCS but we can't do that if we're giving away our best players. Fitts is wise. Cam may be a better, bigger Deshaun for a cheaper cost. A FA that won't embarrass us. Positive energy. Somebody who loves you. -

It was an attack any way you look at it. He was in a heated argument with management. I like Watson as a player a lot. I'd just prefer Cam because he's just as dynamic, bigger, stronger, less drama and we could keep our players AND he'd be CHEAPER. -

Come off the ledge until at least after the draft. We were talking about Cam yesterday. I'd prefer him over Watson 1000%. His leadership and energy is world-class. If Watson comes there are plenty of other players on this team, you can cheer for them. If we had a magnifying glass into the lives of NFL players, owners, you might quit the whole game all together. Truthfully, for Watson, after all that Carolina would probably be the most comfortable place for him to fall back and rebuild his reputation. I have to give Watson the benefit of doubt because none of this came up until the slimy lawyer got on his case for not playing ball with the team owner, his friend and all of a sudden...cases and cases where before there were none. -
Matt Rhule makes me appreciate Ron Rivera, his class, his dignity, he coached toughness. His teams got better in October. He was a Mike Ditkas player. If you weren't tough you weren't playing. He was tough on those guys to be disciplined. He wasn't as ridgid as not to line up Refrigerator Perry at RB. You know what usually happened next. Rivera played for an all time great NFL head coach. You know who else is a Ditka player and no nonsense coach? Jon Harbaugh. That's why players had a tough time. He's Ditka old-school. HARBAUGH 2023! or now!

Greg Hardy on UFC tonight

Most of these guys have been martial artist since childhood. You can be athletic all you want but the SKILL is what wins. Everybody has power. -
If pigs fly. If I win the lottery. If the stimulus checks come in. Oh yes IF he knows competency when he sees it.

I thought this QB class was trash because of the frontrunners. Some good soul, I forget, about two months or so made a Carson Strong thread. I do my homework on guys, the cream of the crop before the draft. I don't have patience for college ball, only interested in who can go pro. THATS when I get into these guys. The thread highlighted his arm, which is a ten out of ten, you can see that on film. His stats this year speak for themselves. NOBODY in this draft class that I have seen has had at least 70% completion but Carrol but only one year NOT two years in a row like Strong. His OC said he's a smart kid academically but he's very smart about reading defenses. He is obsessed with his completion percentage. He's not smallish, he's 6'4" and is so tough he never missed a game even after a surgery. He's done everything in his career to be QB1 and the hype train has missed this kid. Some team is going to get very lucky. He's a gamer. Who, as a rookie has the arm to challenge an NFL defense over the top day one a cannon, accurate, ahead of his receivers, catchable. This is not as bad a QB draft as they think. The wrong guys are up front. Fhules Gold. Strong is the high IQ, high percentage, QB you're speaking of. The diamond in the rough.

Ok, the Big Ten Championship. -
I'm just saying media types get stuck on consensus and don't know the real especially when Carson Strong is left out of the conversation.

The backup almost took his job.

Smallish athletic guys don't work for long in the big physical NFL at QB. How many 5'11" guys do we have to see hyped up and flop to figure it out? The one out of five year wonder is a huge mistake the Panthers can't wait to make so all our collective lists, prognostication, stats, reasons have no bearing on what mad men will do. Tepper and Rhule want their hometown hookup to happen. The real QB1 Strong 2022!
