Fun fact: After being the long time starter at QB for the Bears after Jim McMahon, who replaced Jim Harbaugh at QB for the Bears? Sean Payton. Those guys shared a locker room.

Well, usually a coach saves their last interview for the team they really want to coach. Harbaugh is the superior choice because just like Payton you get a coach who has played QB in the NFL from the Mike Ditka school (toughness above all) and a stellar resume and win percentage. Only difference between the two is demeanor. Opposite personalities from what I can see but the same results. That being said, being that Sean Payton is reported to have accepted the rescheduling of the Panthers meeting having left and then having slept on the Denver meeting/deal could prove to be in the Panthers favor if you're OK with Payton. I still think going all out on trying to hire Harbaugh like they should have when his people called would be cheaper as in no picks and any buyout if any would be much more friendly. Harbaugh wasn't feeling the love and pulled his name out. Tickling his ear before the next couple meetings wouldn't hurt either. He may still want the job and if HE does we don't get raped by the Saints and we get an equal or better coach who can also take over the ship immediately.

Nobody knows if he's a HC yet. It's a calculated risk our front office whiffed on already with the media flavor of the day Matt Rhule instead of the Vegas favorite at the time to get the Panthers HC job, Jim Harbaugh. Vegas knew way back then exactly what we needed and it's not an inexperienced HC to follow the last inexperienced HC.

I personally wouldn't hire Payton but I'd have to respect it. It means he's going all out to win now. I'd take that over any upstart or project or hopeful. Our core players aren't college players not rookies, nobody has time for foolishness. Payton, Reich or fly to Michigan hat in hand and give the man who on credentials alone should have had the job the minute HE had his people reach out the keys. Another three years of a Dann Quinn or Rhule type adventure and the losing and embarrassment that comes with such hires isn't what loyal Panther fans deserve. Tepper needs to go out there and purchase us the best already made head coach possible. Let someone else spend the time, money and discipline and patience it takes to train up a brand new HC. Watching a guy struggle with clock management and other nuances of the executive position...

The media loved Blaine Gabbert over Cam and elevated Zach Wilson and fooled the dumb Jets into picking him. I wouldn't listen to them. They often jump the gun.

Tepper! The only man capable of avenging the disrespect from SP and Loomis is this guy. Sean doesn't love you and he's playing games with your heart, your franchise and your wallet. Upstarts scare me. The HC cherry hasn't been popped yet. The guys that doesn't apply to because their dad's are former NFL coaches are Scott Turner and Lane Kiffin who both have a large wealth NFL staff and knowledge from the sages.

Damn, Tepper lost leverage with Payton. He needs to put his hat in hand and sincerely call Payton's old buddy Harbaugh back and offer HIM anything now since Sean and his people are talking this junk. He'd have to be happy with Harbaugh and offer him the keys but at least you don't go out looking like a flailing needy beeyatch.

It's Payton, Reich or bust. There's little doubt you can win with those two. Proof is in the pudding. This team can't afford an upstart failing again we have a young veteran core we now need a veteran HC. I like Wilks but all he proved is that Rhule had no business coaching in the NFL. They f'd up with Harbaugh who obviously wanted to be here. People are now dropping out. Payton is now elevated with each departure and so is the price. The loss column is filling up. Not getting Harbaugh or his man crush Payton would be another punch in the gut to a former longtime rival. Could that have been the play all along in coordination with NO? Snicker, snicker. Just to make Tepper look needy and stupid and create a reason why Jim Harbaugh wouldn't come to the NFCS? Chess instead of checkers. Looking more and more like SP may be playing Tepper.
