Reich’s description of a QB: It’s basically Corral
rippadonn replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
Reich will work out Corral when he gets here. He'll give us as honest an assessment as he can after meeting him and evaluating him. The biggest FEAR here is that Reich will like what he sees. Delicious. -
Reich’s description of a QB: It’s basically Corral

No, the previous GM and owner who did all their homework on a QB who both agreed to move up to get into their facility. A guy they've now known for almost a year. As much as you may think a new coach will come in and turn everything upside down when Reich came in saying how much he couldn't wait to collaborate with Fitts and Tepper. So you're saying he's coming in to step on toes? Lol -

Reich’s description of a QB: It’s basically Corral

If all things were equal yes. Corral has a year in the NFL ahead of everyone. If they did draft a QB, Corral would be his obvious competition. I'm sure he'd welcome that. -

Pretty sound assessment but draft position will always dictate who plays. Corral will be owed more money so they must see him before Eason. Fitt, McAdoo, Tepper we're high on Corral BEFORE the draft so yet another reason we'll definitely see. -

Corral was considered a late first round talent and was invited to dress up and be in the green room with his fellow first round talents. Why? Because he was widely considered a first round talent and those who continue to doubt that, barring injury, will be eating crow, especially now he's got Frank Reich. -

He will have one year of NFL strength and conditioning when we see him next. Not the same player from 2021, probably heavier, stronger. It will be very interesting to see how he's progressed physically and mentally. And for those who come out their pieholes with "Corral fanboys", in 2021 most of SEC college football were Corral fans, admirers or previously defeated by's. -

Preseason. I get it. That's all he would ask. A real "QB competition". One where he could get a chance with first or even second stringers. He never got that. -
We'll see, Frank has Eason and Corral and whoever isn't in the top ten to choose from. It sounds like there will be a run on QBs in the top ten. Are we desperate to move up. I don't see desperation in this coach. If anything he spoke more about championship level defense and special teams. Reich has yet to meet the QBs and hasn't worked them out for himself. Once that happens, and if it's positive. Defense could happen. Myles Murphy 2023

They drafted offense first last season. If there is a star WR or DE there we need to seriously consider that player for real.
-
With Reich we can build our QB room, not necessarily have to get a retread. Roll with Corral and maybe draft a guy to compete along with Eason. To me though, listening to him speak about the defense I could easily see #9 go to defense and seeing what QBs may drop, just like last season with Corral. I think Young will drop because size/durability concerns, somewhat to the degree Corral fell. Just a hunch.

His contract expired. He'd need to be resigned. I can't wait to see what he does with currently the only QB on the roster, who needs to get his self back in town asap...
-
If THAT'S the case why then wouldn't Wilks consider coaching under Reich? To hold on to this lawsuit that lacks total merit in 2023? I think the effort to elevate one groups contribution above another in the vast and total effort that is the NFL is a stance that lacks any awareness whatsoever. With the millions and millions the NFL generates for everyone involved I think the idea behind this lawsuit is 20-30 years too late. What about native American coaches? Asian coaches? Samoan coaches? Mixed American coaches? Ok you're black but let's see some DNA. White but how white? It's silly and they need to stop it. Nobody is denied opportunity in football. The valid argument for today isn't coaching opportunities for minorities but ownership opportunities.

Not take it away. Exactly. I'm hesitant to judge Burns or Brown until I see them in a proper 4-3. As good as D. Brown looks IMO had he gone to a 4-3 team his success would have come sooner. The 3-4 needs to go if we're going to be serious about lasting deep into playoff series and getting back to a Superbowl. Teppers fascination with 3-4 and the weaknesses it brings is a liability. Going to 4-3 and adding Myles Murphy to our front four would be fearsome thing. We'd just need a FA to put beside Brown.
-
Yeah, also that defeats the purpose of bringing Reich in. He needs to build our QB system.
-
I'm with you. We just can't control them. Seriously I'd be ok with them developing their QBs in house now that we have a QB expert at HC. We need a dominant DE on the other side of Burns.
-
There's also the possibility of them looking at Daniel Jones who will test free agency. 6'5" 230lbs, runs like a gazelle with power, throws with accuracy and good armstrength. 67% regular season completion percentage 62% postseason. Charlotte native, Panther fan. Who else is coming home?
-
Don't forget.

See what Reich can do with Matt Corral. I'm almost certain that's one of the main players he would like to see on campus face to face to see if he can just roll with Young Lion and focus on defense or if necessary draft a QB. I don't think drafting a QB will be necessary after Reich works out Matt Corral. He'll be impressed.

As they say, "defense wins championships". Defense got us to both Superbowls. The first time with a UDFA in Jake Delhomme and a #1 pick in Cam Newton. Without those defenses what and whatever QB don't matter. Myles Murphy 2023

This is starting to get nasty with coach wilks.

Truthfully I think the NFL should go back to hiring just like everyone else so we could have cut all the bull crap out and hired who they wanted as soon as the organization let Rhule go. Why do we have to square dance and do see do with everybody just to circle back to the guy they already made their mind up on. The whole process is part of the PC culture that is rotting common sense decency and equity. So the owner that hires Herm Edwards, Tony Dungy, coach Caldwell or Mike Tomlin are part of an organization that needs policing to not be racist?! It's 2023 not 1973 we need to give ourselves credit for having evolved and not let media and politicians continue to tell us different for profit and agenda. Evolving means getting rules that no longer fit WHO WE ARE NOW in favor of ones that reward ourselves for the progress and integration we've already achieved. We've come a long way through blood sweat and tears together and people want us to forget how we got to "others" in power now including women. -
