When he can go a season without throwing someone else under the bus and take responsibility for his own work, his own mistakes and stop trying to replace OUR CULTURE with what I don't know the Appaloser model or something we'll start to be OK. KEEP POUNDING!

I like his chemistry he already has with the team. Him and Montrell are great additions. -

History has yet to record this "closer", odds aren't in their favor although the pundits are... hilariously. -
Post Mortem on the Watson Trade (from Albert Breer)

He wanted to win Super Bowls. And after spending a full season on the sidelines, as much as he liked the long-term plans of every team he met with, he didn’t want to wait to get to work on all of those things. The best place for that? A place he’d eliminated—because it was far from home, and because he’d only actually been to Cleveland once, for a rain-soaked, wind-swept, 10–7 Texans loss to the Browns in November 2020. So he instructed his agent, David Mulugheta, to call Browns GM Andrew Berry back. That was midday Friday, and by sundown Watson would be Ohio-bound That was the most BS part of the article! Cleveland?! Superbowl? That last happen in the sixties dude, 1965. Panthers have been there twice since 2003. These media hype jobs are really twisting some impressionable noodles. -
Burrow has plenty arm. I wasn't on the Burrow train either. If you remember that year I was on the Justin Herbert bandwagon, I had him way ahead of Burrow. He wasn't drafted as high but he did become OROY. The same metric I used for Herbert being my guy that year, Trask as the sleeper last year and Carson Strong this draft. 6'3" for me is just being able to get on the ride as a QB in the NFL. That's mainly because body types in the NFL change drastically from college that the difference between average and elite can be that one inch or a couple pounds + or -.

Elite prospects are totally different animals than the borderline NFL journeyman or drop out types. Start there. There is a reason an elite prospect who can go to any big program and play is superior. Look at Cam, like Burrow he had his choices. Why? Elite. Pickett is not in the same category although he's being put on a pedestal for stupid teams like the Jets to draft.
-
Joe Burrow was an elite prospect 6'4" big arm. Pickett couldn't have gone to LSU or Alabama. So right there...yeah

Exactly the media hyped up Blaine Gabbert to be a superior player to Cam Newton, that's all kinds of stupid. People like to convince themselves of otherwise when the truth has always been in their face. Zach Wilson was last year's example. The Jets backup QB could take his job. The hype is behind Pickett like it was for Gabbert and Wilson. Pickett is a slow motion NFL crash in progress. I hope we're not the audience.

Must be a Colorado based guy. That's some good stuff he's poofing.

Important.

Go back and look at his stats from the previous 4yrs. You won't feel the same. He struggled to score 13TDs before all of a sudden a good year. Actually before this season the last 4 he could be described as a guy who was ok in college and not NFL material. Body of work is very questionable and so is a five year tenure to be considered draft eligible. Smells all kinds of wrong. So enjoy this season he looks good one has to seriously ask the question, is this a sustainable level of play for this QB? The history isn't good. Tape is just the half. It's what a guy has done on the field and if this was truly a top prospect it wouldn't have taken five years in the oven.

One good year out of FIVE. FIVE! He's getting slobbered over for one good year?! Judge him on previous years he was a sub par QB. Not a good move and totally a selfish endeavor by the Penn guy in the front office.
-
They want to high five their Penn buddies, this ain't about the best QB.
-
They want a buddy not a QB. What a joke.

One of last times (forgot about futbol)we saw Tepper was in that picture with Cam. Do you know David Tepper? Is Rhule still here? Do YOU want Rhule here? Prepare thy puckered posterior....

It's better to reload on the fly, build wins and then hand off to the next guy who's been groomed, waiting, hungry. That's how to build NOT destroy. Grow not burn.

Just when we finally got good receivers Cam was gone. Cam had Smitty for a short time and after that who? Philly Brown? New England had just stripped their roster before Cam got there so no receivers no tight ends. What I'm saying is we KNOW for a fact Cam never had pieces at WR after Smitty. I don't think you can judge Cams performance when he's always been tasked to cook with no ingredients. He didn't get much time with DJ before he was gone. The year they had together DJ was probowl material. Give Cam a friggin chance. The one time he had sufficient help he went 15-1 in the NFL. Stop with the hurt, stop with the shoulder is shot, this man IS healthy and given weapons he IS the same Cam but more mature, patient in the pocket, going through four reads. This is the best Cam Newton if given weapons and the perfect role model if we choose to draft any of these QBs this year who could all use a redshirt year(Willis, Strong). AND with Cam we are in win NOW mode, the end of this bull.
-
Legacy. Don't destroy it. Allow it to be passed forward, like after Cam and this defense take the NFCS and more. Give the young man a redshirt NFL year or two, PJ already got two and you may have the next Mike Vick. He ran an unofficial 4.2 40. I'm not mad at them wanting to see if he's a Vick type weapon because he was a huge weapon.

Kenny Pickett > Malik Willis (at least for us)
rippadonn replied to janderson20vt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Owners and Coaches fan boy crush because of hometown love. One good season out of five. That won't cut it in the NFL. If we can avoid that self inflicted wound like drafting Zach Wilson instead of Fields (58%comp on 270att) or Cheesy Mac Jones If we can avoid the trap laid by the establishment for dummy teams like the Jets who are always at the top of the draft picking the wrong QBs, totally following the hype. If we can find the guy in this draft who can play QB the best consistently not necessarily the best scrambler, your dime dropping Drew Brees efficient level guy we've got our next franchise QB. Does picking Mac Jones say, #6 last year seem stupid now? Look at Mac Jones' completion percentage his first year, a career average of 67%! By the numbers and performance Mac was the best QB in that draft. Proof is in the pudding. This year's Mac Jones? His name is 6'4" laser guided bazooka arm 70%completion for two years consecutively, academic and football wiz kid Carson Strong. The best most complete player of the quarter back position in this draft. The Panthers will whiff on this Penn Fhules Gold, laughed out of the mint.
