If we draft a QB, I want Carson Strong
rippadonn replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ok, I just have to see that against NFL talent since since most of his competition is now going to be his equal in weight and strength, no more future car salesmen. He's going to have to rely on his QB side. NFL LBs, DEs, DTs are extraordinarily tough. 6'5" 250lb Cam took a beating but he was a true freak of nature. -

For his height, weight, position he's no more freak than anybody in the NFL. He's not Julius Peppers freak, not Mike Vick freak he's not Adrian Peterson level freak athlete. He's not bigger, stronger or faster than anybody he's joining in the NFL. He will now be competing with athletes his level or better. He's going to play among the freakiest athletes in the world. I'm saying he's not a standout in that world. -

Aside from Colt all the QBs(just about all of them) on that list would be better than what we've had by far. Accuracy is the name of the QB game. Tyreek Hill makes a huge difference so we'll see with Mahommes. -

2nd rounder! Nobody else thought so except the real professionals. He's a potential starter for half the price. Smart move.

He spread the ball around pretty well and if you had Pitts you'd get it into his hand as much as possible too.

Kyle Trask is 6'5" 240lbs. Nobody in this draft is Kyle Trask.

Don't want my QB running anymore. Love Cam but he was career 59%. Sometimes putting the cart before the horse as far as letting your highest investment prance around the field while learning how to read NFL defenses and call plays at the LOS can be costly. Carson had autonomy over the whole system in real time. He's NFL ready in that respect, plug and play. I've seen him change plays at the line into another look and drop a pure dime many times now. You should believe Ike Taylor like I do. I'll one up him and say he should be QB1 in this draft. Strong 2022! -

Ike Taylor thinks he should be QB2. Look how Ikes eyes light up when he talks about Carson. It's not just me. Ike said Carson Strong isn't just a steal he's a "I told you so". 12yr Steelers veteran Ike Taylor. -

Everything I've said has a stat or a story to back it up. Insane is lusting after Kenny Pickett or hoping Willis "becomes". You guys. Lol -

Ok. Second round. Not third. He's an NFL second rounder. The gotcha game doesn't evade the truth. You guys are a good laugh. -

It's not rocket science. A lot of people hate on Frank Garcia but something he always said is a lot of what my analysis comes down to, "bigger, stronger, faster" that's the difference between the NFL and college and that slim margin needed to succeed in that environment. A guy that had just come out of the NFL came over the house. Massive dude. We asked him why he left. He shook his head and said "All those guys are extraordinarily tough". -

Just the facts. No cap here. No reason for that. Just the stats, the tape and a ruler. -

No a poster here on this site posted the link a couple weeks back, I read that and another report that said the same. High second round is a pretty high pick. Somebody was paying attention. I told you he'd be somebody. -

The reading and calling plays at the LOS coming into the NFL is very Payton Manning like. I think his arm is on par with him and Favre and he may be the Aaron Rodgers of this draft if the Panthers and a bunch of others pass on him. Yeah, you may be right. I'll put my money on a kid like Strong any day. An article stated he was obsessed with completion percentage and not in a Teddy Bridgewater type of way. No. Dropping dimes into the hands of running men not checkdowns. He can play immediately because he's already advanced at what they teach these great athletes at QB when they come into the NFL and needing to trust the pocket. The top prospects aren't quite ready, they have a steeper learning curve IMO. He's not perfect, he has room to grow in the NFL. He does have the ability to absorb a playbook an run the system on the fly. That's advanced. He's just a junior. If his completion percentage drops from the previous two years 70% to say 67% that's Drew Brees career, Tom Brady regular season level. If the NFL can coach Carson Strong up from his two years at 70% to say 72-73%, that level guy would be HOF with good luck and games played. I don't know what's next for Carson but from his traits and his gifts, when he gets his chance he'll most likely flourish. His career stats support that. Strong 2022! -

No I said put it all together he's the best QB in THIS draft. Not the fantasy draft. -

He moves in the pocket. This guy is Payton Manning like in that respect subtle movements to shake a DE. I've seen a Dlineman totally whiff because Carson just side steps it and rips it down field. The pocket is a safe place if you navigate it properly, a QB doesn't have to bug out and run unless it's there. If the play is going nowhere he can obviously throw it out or at some feet. A QB like Carson would elevate DJ and Robby especially. CMC too. He's coming in much like Payton Manning reading and calling plays at the LOS, with a bit of Brett Favre gunslinger mentality and only the second best but more accurate arm in this draft with the prototype measurables ,size, long arms, height, normal sized hands for his height. Very high IQ. Excellent academically also. Despite surgery he didn't miss a game. If the media wasn't drinking silly juice and listening to agents, in this weak draft Carson Strong as a junior should be in the discussion for QB1. Everybody wants friends though so they're not all bad. They'll give it the good ol' Jimmy Clausen, Blaine Gabbert, Zach Wilson, Kenny Pickett sales job and the Jets and teams like them will always go for the hype and draft Alex Smith instead of Aaron Rodgers.
