David Tepper to speak to media at noon today
rippadonn replied to jamos14's topic in Carolina Panthers
This guy is not genius level at all, very undisciplined. Insider info may have made all the money not smarts. It's becoming more and more obvious. Where is Elon Musk when the Panthers need him? -
Building or destruction? Seems like the later. The Panthers aren't a damn expansion team! Building what? A perennial Appaloser? We were NOT every year losers before more like every other year losers. From mediocre to pathetic. Tepper is pathetic as an owner.

We are comfortable drafting a couple QBs at 6
rippadonn replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sometimes you get frozen out and the trade back just isn't there. Probably easier to trade up. They could get themselves a late first early second if they pony up and a good/great QB may be there. It's just a matter of picking that one guy out of the presumed top 6-7 QBs that is going to have a good/great NFL career. There may not be a clear #1 for a lot of reasons but there is value in this draft at QB. -
We’re not crowning Kyle as the heir apparent yet, but we feel very fortunate that we got him when we did last year because where he stacks up with quarterbacks in this year’s draft, [and] everybody’s going to have their own opinion, but I feel pretty good about where he stacks up with these quarterbacks," said Licht. "So, I feel like we made a good decision last year" https://www.si.com/nfl/buccaneers/news/tampa-bay-buccaneers-jason-licht-talks-kyle-trask-tom-brady Tampa GM happy about where he stacks up with that drafts QBs. Not crying about a "weak arm". Nobody is going to draft somebody in the second round with a "weak arm"
-
He did beat Blaine last we heard then Tom Brady unretired. C'mon guys.
-
Stop it. Why does he have a job if he doesn't have an arm? That's a foolish notion. The NFL doesn't just pay you to be big or have a weak arm. That's your opinion. You seem to take Trask personally. He's proving you wrong so far.

Bob McGinn's annual draft spectacular (QB class)

It would be a Kenny Pickett breakout fifth season!

You could run power with Kyle Trask at the goal line. He's 6'5" 240lbs of country strong. That's elite size. I saw him push two big hog mollies into the end zone for a TD. You can't go running your 210lb 5'11 QB. That's why Trask was high on my list big, strong. Strong arm. (don't@me nonsense because he wouldn't have a contract without a NFL arm no matter what YOU think).

Cam was/is a prolific runner. People don't fathom just how good he is at it. His field vision is superb. He developed a great baseball slide. He always had the awareness of when to get down in the open field. Cam didn't get injured running the ball, just the opposite, like last year, he's a dump truck near the goal line and a superb athlete. Cam is career 59%(I've personally witnessed many drops) but he's a superior athlete running among superior athletes.
-
Sam tried to be more than he was already and suffered that injury. You have to be elite at something in the NFL as a QB. Well when Sam got here they where talking about his running ability. He went and tried to get yards on his feet around physically superior athletes, that's absolutely nuts and got smashed. Can run, not durable running. Needs to develop other talents instead. Is the IQ there? Is the accuracy there?! Can he attain better accuracy at this point in his career he is career 59% completion percentage. That's pedestrian. Just good enough to not be special. We as an organization need to turn the page at QB and put accuracy and ability to push the ball down the field over perceived athleticism that may not translate to durability against freek athlete hard hitting lightning fast gym rats. We were spoiled by Cam. Not every QB should be running, not Sam. So what does Sam have left to show you? He's a career 59% thrower who is limited because he's not built for serious contact. Sam's situation is exactly why you can't draft a QB as a runner. That's the RB. Draft a QB who is accurate and who takes care of the ball. Playing Sam will most likely lower his value in a trade. I wouldn't do it. Play a rookie and try and deal Sam later when people forget about last season. He is what he is. Borderline back up.

I didn't single you out. People here told me Herbert wasn't worth our pick and Trask wouldn't be anything a bunch of them... Again, you think doing what Trask did was in any way easy? He earned the starting job. I know you're a Trask expert but I'm looking at his traits also and just like Strong, Trask had to earn everything, take it by the horns and lead AND put up numbers and be efficient and careful with the ball. Trask and Strong have a very strong drive to win and succeed and both climbed the ladder to do so. Both those guys when given their opportunity will flourish in their will and character first and their gifts second. I'm not just looking at measurables which they both posses, and the stats and elite performances to back it up. IF I'm wrong why was Trask drafted in the second round, not third, not fourth? I'm not wrong. Trask is bigger and already a better QB than anybody on the Panthers roster and would be an immediate improvement. Think we could get a second round pick for Sam? Lol. Strong is better than YOU think. It not a crime. Ease up.
-
DO NOT play him to retain any value he has in trade at some point. No. Draft a rookie. Sam can back him up and maybe you'll get something after people forget, like a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
-
After you Cam how can you go back? I love me some big QBs.

I'm speaking in hindsight though. I was a Brees fan when he was with the Chargers, had IT. Drew was an undersized scrambler coming in who turned into the most precise quick minded pocket passers in history. To become a great QB he had to make that transition, trust the pocket so he became great. Nothing wrong with drafting a pocket passer who is already advanced at trusting and moving in the pocket and reading and calling plays at the LOS as a junior. THAT is a QB already doing what they're going to teach him to be in the NFL. Maybe HE can become a better runner after having mastered being an accurate pocket passer. Would these idiot bottom feeder franchises at the top of the draft all the time kinda like our Tepper Panthers constantly pass on Drew Brees? Yes. Mac Jones was a QB who came in and did well for a rookie. The idiot run bottom feeding franchises don't do their homework.

If any of you remember, guys on this site were telling me Justin Herbert wasn't all that. They're telling me Trask won't be anything yet at this moment his contract holds more value than anybody in our QB room. And yes, Carson Strong. Carson is the next Drew Brees. Mark it down. Analytics. Strong 2022

Very valid question. Being unlike all these John Does is a compliment... Thank you

There is so much information and disinformation around Qbs all the way up to the draft. Look how much people like agents stand to make. Different schools have bigger followings than others so Jimmy Clausen is the next best QB ever. Then you have issues when you're trying to translate from a player from a large program large conference university vs small conference whiz kids. All of that noise can distract the best scouts, professionals, and fans. When you get in a quiet place. Look at the numbers, look for consistency, look for statistical outliers, look for positive measurables, elite performance, elite arm, high IQ, classroom/playbook scholarship, fearlessness in the pocket, the numbers and traits above apply to Carson Strong not Kenny one year wonder Pickett. Strong 2022!

Contract wise, a Wilson, Brees, Brady contract would really boost a franchise. That Joe Burrow contract will easily become a burden if he's great or not. He's demanding x amount because he's a 1st rounder performing like a top pick, what do you have left for the rest of the roster? You get a first round talent in the second or third you can actually have the resources to build a team around that guy and create a "dynasty" That's probably why Tepper blinked when it came time for Cams contract as a bonafide top pick.
-
Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, Tom Brady were not top ten or top twenty. You do your homework you can find diamonds in the rough like Carson Strong.

All the Fhules Gold being pushed up the QB board means you CAN get a QB AND Icky. It's a good draft, it's just that the prospects are out of order. A smart team can capitalize. Try like heck to get late in the first or early in the second and a good QB will be there. Package player and picks if need be. The contending teams are in the bottom of the first. Maybe they may be attracted to someone enough for that guy and a combination of picks. Strong, Corral, Ridder to name a few. You can have your cake and eat it too.
