We've for years now had huge holes at QB and LT. We actually pull off getting both, thus completing said "rebuild" but we're not going to play those guys!? Total B.S.

Optionality sometimes leads to misdirection. Last season they played with optionality and pulled Cam for Sam and interchanged and switched instead of making a clear statement. If Sam was back why are you running a two QB system? If Cam is better @, then why don't you just roll with him for the rest of the season? They tried to go down two different roads simultaneously. Bonkers. Confusing. If you are decisive and direct YOU know you didn't move a pick and next year's third for somebody your NOT going to play!? Turn the page. Sam can if he wants to be a great mentor, starting QB on this team?! Everybody KNOWS who's job that is now. Why move in two different directions instead of one. Everybody should know their role. Matt Corral came here to START, being a starting QB is how you begin that relationship. Everybody understands and works toward one goal, not two damn directions. Everybody knows who the starter is and who the backup should be this season. If this is a rebuild then your pieces should be there in place. Why play/lose games without giving the kids some exercise?

Sam will show the rookie how it's done!

Oh, Icky those trenches buddy. We've gotta protect you from your job little guy.

These are football players. It's 2022, no coddling or breeding weakness necessary. The thing football players want to do most is play football. Time to turn the page on the "rebuild".

Corral to DJ Moore is looking like Jake/Smitty again. Madden says play Matt Corral...

Ok... But the coaching staff has been impressed with the way he’s taken to the playbook, with about 70% of the offense thrown at him in a three-day span. “He did great. I thought he was fantastic,” Arians said. “Just the way he processes information. To take it from the first time ever hearing it -- he was throwing it to the right guy. There were some really good, disguised coverages that he saw the first day of his career, so I was really impressed with how he processes information, and he was very accurate.” Sounds like the Kyle I know they still love him.

Sigh. (It hurts when you see it pointed out like that)

Sam has already imploded, exploded. The Jets knew he was done. Starting this kid won't hurt him it will show him from day one what the expectations will be. Unless he's injured he's our best option to win football games. Ask Corral if he wants to start, or is it too much? He'll probably salivate. He wants the ball. He deserves his chance. Sam was that guy and is no more. It's football. He just needs a training camp. Zach Wilson in contrast and Malik Willis not having just played in the SEC may need a redshirt but not Corral. Playaction is his strength and directly translates to Sundays. Very few QBs play with that Jake/Smitty like emotion. This guy does. He's ready. Let's eat! -
If I were them, like Cam, there would be no question. There is not a better option at QB on this roster. Period. Sam is a good backup. That's being realistic.

Mike Singletary was a high IQ monster. He made you pay with consequences.
-
Dan got like 25tackles in the Superbowl iirc.

Honorable mention to Dan Morgan. If he had just 4-5 more years...whoa!

Watching Luke duel with Brady and Brees was a thing of beauty. They'd be checking into and out of plays all the way up to the snap. Lewis was a beast but watching Luke be a great technician as well as a physical beast also was just magical. Even if Luke didn't have it between the ears like he does he would have still been physically one of the best. Luke was amazing on tape. Watching him diagnos put everybody in position and just fire off. I may be a homer but as far as best MLB I've seen with my own eyes... 1a. Mike Singletary (got his autograph:-), disclaimer, total fanboy) 1b. Luke 2. Ray Lewis
-
Luke's game IQ puts him ahead Lewis. To me Luke is up there with Mike Singletary. That's top of the top.

The more stuff I watch the more I see him playing with that same emotion and fire #17 had. Jake wasn't as coordinated with his celebrations and wasn't half as fast as Corral but that emotion, that fire made regular Jake great some Sundays. Corral is obviously more gifted but to me that's just another piece of the psyche needed to make it as a QB in the first place. That said, Corral is our best option to win going forward. Stop it with Sam this and that. At this moment Sam isn't worth more than Matt Corral in any trade scenario. What does that say? What do his career stats say? Blame everybody else? No. Not a starter. Yes, a QB, not a starter anymore. Too much bad tape. Now after the injuries and what happened last year, shouldn't be running. That's 30% of Darnolds upside gone. Being a backup is still saying a lot in the NFL. That's his career trajectory. Not bad. Give it time, people forget, he may start again. Truthfully, I don't know how Sam feels about backing up a rookie, maybe that's not what he signed up for and would want to test the market so those conversations need to be had. One thing is for sure. Golden Corral needs his reps, he needs to be fully evaluated before the next draft. He's from the SEC so I really don't think the lights will be too big for him. Kids got swagger. -

Look how much money has been dumped into the Sam Darnold project. Is he or isn't he a franchise QB?! The stats are self evident. Shouldn't be. We need to know what Matt Corral is made of now not later after caressing and grooming. We don't have that luxury. We don't have a starter on the roster.
-
The SEC is closer to the NFL than anything Joe Montana had.
-
No more Green Egg'd Sam No more. Uh uh
-
If the Panthers had a franchise QB like Brett Favre and we'd just lucked up on drafting Aaron Rodgers I'd say yeah, let the rookie sit. IF Cam Newton was still here I'd say sit the rookie and let him watch a professional QB and leader of men at work. There is NO REASON for Matt Corral not to go through off-season, training camp and start like Cam or Luck, Burrow. It's more important to evaluate Matt Corral and HIS possibilities against NFL defenses. We saved on Corral so Sam being such a high priced backup hurts a little less. Yes, Sam backing up the rookie retains future trade value for Darnold also. Win, win. We evaluate Corral and maybe he learns to do most if not all of what he did in college in the NFL. He's great at play action and pump fakes already. He has much better cast members in CMC, DJ, Robby, Marshall.

He was humbled on draft night like Aaron. Good way to play with a chip on your shoulder.

The Start Matt Corral Army is mobilized.

If a city offers a new stadium and training facility...
rippadonn replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
As previously proposed, no. I think the city may rethink that if the practice facility/retail/hotel complex was done at the foundry and a futuristic opening/closing dome structure perhaps between huge arches and technological upgrade thought, that may tickle the ear of the city. Charlotte business wise would probably jump all over that. Huge uptown infrastructure, adding to BofA in an iconic architectural endeavor?! Retail, Hotels, Restaurants, practice facility? Training Camp? -
If you're talking about 80's 90's Steve Young, Jerry Rice WCO, yes. Recent iterations, no.
