  1. Maybe not exactly like this, but something like the NFL where you play an out of conference schedule on top of the division schedule. Something that reduces the amount of coast to coast travel.
  2. Paquette wanted Gourde and will get him before the night is over. Gourde hit Geekie and cross checked Aho into the post.
  3. There is nothing I see to make me believe Carolina can beat this team in a playoff series. Why does Hamilton manage to play some of his worst hockey against TB?
  4. This one ended quickly. Vas will not give up 3 tonight.
  5. If you had the choice, would you take a D with offensive mindset or a sandpaper & physical game? I'm of the opinion you get the latter of the 2 for less money, the Canes will be fine without his offense and they need a physical presence on the blue line.
  6. Not so fast, my friend. Hear me out for a sec... Mrazek has been shelved with a significant hand injury to his glove side. A definite concern on 2 counts- nobody has seen him play since and nobody knows if he'll be the same. What team would be willing to take that chance headed into the playoffs, #1; and, #2, what do the Canes get in return for a goalie coming off injury who's had little playing time this season? The Canes could actually get more for Reimer than Mrazek if they find the right trade partner: TB: Vas is their #1, obviously, but McIlhenney is their 37 year old #2 who is a UFA at the end of the year and they have no #3 right now (injured). Anaheim Ducks: 1 goalie right now, 1 injured and a #2 taxi squad guy. And their starting goalie a 40-year old, $1m contract and a UFA at the end of the year. And I'll take blue-liner Kevin Shattenkirk and his contract all day to replace Dougie. So, you move a goalie, gain a $4M a year D to replace Dougie ($6M right now, probably wants $8M to stay).
  7. I had an engagement last night which prevented me from seeing the game. First game I've missed all of this season. Did catch up on the highlights, so all is good- wish I could have seen the wrap-around live as well as the OT winner. Anyway- one more against this team on May 1. Pesky bunch they are and Tortorella will push that team hard for the 4 spot in the standings. I think it's more of a matchup issue for the Canes, RBA just needs to tweak the lines a little to get a favorable position.
  8. Underrated for what he's done on a crappy team his entire career.
  9. Does he have to start? Play the entire game? Can he come in to replace Reimer and have that count? Part of a game?
  10. Oh boy.... https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/nhl-fires-referee-tim-peel-after-hot-mic-captures-him-n1261954
  11. But if mechanics are going to be questioned, what exactly is the benchmark you're using? That's my point. So, if Cam is such a special athlete, why aren't coaches around the globe teaching kids his mechanics? Or, if someone is a special athlete, then mechanics don't matter? Just trying to understand where the line is drawn. I don't know Lance or Fields, but I do know that Cam's mechanics were talked about ad nauseam in this very forum. And Dan fugging Orlovsky?
  12. Next 2 weeks look like this: A good opportunity to make up for the 3-game skid and a golden opportunity to beat Tampa Bay at home.
  13. Does anyone remember any of these footwork and mechanics questions when Carolina drafted Cam Newton? Oh, and he's never changed any of it, although there were glimpses of a change after a few injuries, but he is basically the same mechanical QB the Panthers drafted.
  14. Yeah, I kinda lost it there.... wife was in the other room as I was shouting, "What the fug are you doing?!?!" Overall, a good game. Defense was standing CBJ up at the blue line and only allowing 12 shots through 2 periods and 19 total? Sheeesh, that'll get you a win almost every night. On the other side of that coin, a lot of Canes players were put on the ice with hits last night. Bean and Skjei showed a little more physicality, which is a good thing and must continue to learn how to dish it out. 3 games of a 4-game set; 4 points apiece.
  15. Vinny wearing yellow, but with his skates on-stick in hand is a good sign. The bad sign is the yellow- likely not to play tonite. If he does, I'll be very surprised.
  16. The Situation Room in Toronto can initiate a video review in the last minute of regulation and during OT. They missed this one and it cost Carolina the game.
  17. So, the Canes lost on a league-initiated review of an off-sides call on the game winner. If the league can initiate a review of that type, which had no bearing on the outcome of the game, why didn't the league initiate a review of the penalty on Columbus when Laine lost his stick along the boards and it was pushed back to him with a stick, which is illegal? Penalty occurs at about 4:20, Laine loses stick, it gets pushed back to him before he make the cross-ice pass for the game-tying goal:
  18. Slavin going about his business tonite. It's the little things, but he's always in control.
  19. Look where he's shooting from- not his usual spot. The last couple games I've notices him moving to the right side more often, likely trying get some space and it shallows his angle as a lefty. His confidence is an issue right now. He's taking hits and getting pushed around a bit, can't score and even passed up a couple lacrosse opportunities. As I said last week- he needs a good 2-3 point game and he'll be back.
  20. No worries. After all the Panthers signed..... wait, I forgot their names.... fug..... who, again?
  21. Tiger Woods has signed a deal with video game producer 2k. It's an exclusive deal and the first he's had since EA dropped him in 2013 following his failed attempt to escape his gorgeous, why-would-you-even-think-about-fugging-around-on-her wife, Elin Nordgren, when she came after him with a pitching wedge. https://www.yardbarker.com/golf/articles/amp/tiger_woods_signs_with_2k_for_first_video_game_deal_since_2013/s1_127_34370606 To be honest, we should have all seen this coming. After all, the only golf he'll ever play again will be with a game controller.
  22. You're seeing this, too, eh? I wasn't going to say anything, but after last night's dumb penalties, it's hard to avoid. A face-off circle penalty? Really? Svech needs a 2-3 point game to get his head back on straight. Oh, and I would have yanked Reimer after the second time he lost his stick. I get that most coaches won't pull their goalie unless he's getting lit up, but allowing a bunch of goals is just as much a concentration thing as holding onto your stick.
