I don't see Seattle looking at many on this list beyond Nino and McGinn.

NHL teams have until 5PM EDT today to submit their protected player list to the NHL league office ahead of the Seattle Kraken expansion draft. Teams may either protect 7 forwards, 3 blueliners and 1 goalie or 8 skaters and 1 goalie. I think there's little doubt the Canes will go the 7-3-1 route. Unfortunately for us, the lists won't be made public (by the league) until tomorrow. So, we might have to wait unless someone happens to stumble across a misplaced email or find out who is safe and who's out....

Fishermen, support NC HB513 to ban saltwater gill netting

Wow, they caved for a whole inch! Such brave men & women to have voted for a single inch! Fug 'em. Most of them couldn't approximate an inch if you gave them a ruler head start. They should have gone to 18" -
Hurricanes may not resign Nedejkovic

A bunch of those guys are on perennial playoff teams and a few of them have a Stanley Cup as well. And what also should not be discounted is the fact this was a shortened and modified season that saw a limited number of opponents and very limited travel. Let's see what he does thru an 80-game grind with the travel. -
Missouri has been leading the nation in new cases of the Delta variant for a few weeks now and, as a state, have one of the lowest vaccination rates in the entire country. A vast majority of the population in the rural portions of the state still believe it's a hoax. While I understand family and parents and grandkids and all that, I can assure you that although I recovered from COVID in November last year and had both my Moderna vaccinations in March I would not purposefully have put myself in that situation regardless. People wear helmets and still get head injuries, firemen wear protective gear and still get burned on occasion, beekeepers wear their outfits and still get stung once in a while.

Hurricanes may not resign Nedejkovic

If the Canes aren't going to pay a veteran in Hamilton the $8M he wants, how does it make sense to pay a rook goalie coming off his first partial season as a starter anywhere close to that? Sorry, but as good, bad or mediocre as Ned may be to any of us, the reality is he's not worth much more than $2.5-4M a year, tops. -
When you have to insert the word "obvious," it sounds as though you're trying to convince yourself. What does a "not so obvious rebuild" look like? How about the "completely stealthy" rebuild?

REPORT: No movement in Panthers’ talks w/ Taylor Moton
Anybodyhome replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Which is the precise reason this team cannot be a consistent winner. Examine the rosters of perennial contenders in the NFL and you'll see offensive lines who have lived, worked and played together for years, maybe losing a guy here and there along the way. The Panthers, in the meantime, have the proverbial revolving door along their O-lines and every series CMC steps into the huddle, he's looking to see who's playing left guard for the next 4 downs. -
Soprano's Prequel Releasing October 1st on HBOMAX

One of the best scenes of the entire series. Watch Tony when he walks in the house, Janice is sitting there with a cigarette and Tony is standing behind her- watch the smile that creeps into Tony's face- priceless. -
Anyone surprised, especially with a $100M roster? https://edmontonjournal.com/sports/hockey/nhl/cult-of-hockey/lightning-a-masterpiece-of-roster-construction-and-salary-cap-management-but-they-cant-hold-on-to-everybody Needs to be said there is a large, smelly elephant in that particular room. That the Bolts were able to power up their playoff roster with likely Conn Smythe Trophy winner Nikita Kucherov after writing off his entire regular season cap hit — a substantial $9.5 million — to Long Term Injured Reserve ranged from clever cap circumvention to old-fashioned cheating, depending on one’s point of view. Let’s settle here on “gaming the system”. Kucherov did have a legitimate injury stemming from last season’s successful playoff run here in the Edmonton Bubble, but the timing of both his surgery and his subsequent convalescence “just happened” to cover the entire duration of the regular season, during which time the Bolts employed a cap-ceiling team even in his absence. Come playoff time, with the cap no longer in force, the Bolts were free to activate Kucherov, who was a fair ways over 100% by the time he hit the ice in Game 1 of the playoffs. He’s been lighting it up ever since. It’s dicey, but it’s legal. At least it is until the NHL does something to fix a loophole wide enough to drive an 18-wheeler through. Not the first time a team has taken advantage of it — Patrick Kane and the 2015 Blackhawks come to mind — but Kane only missed a quarter of the season. This episode is unique in that the player in question had an official cap hit of $0 for the entire season with a subsequent post-season Return On Investment that is, effectively, infinite. So too is it legal to take on existing LTIR contracts as Tampa did with Marian Gaborik and Anders Nilsson in an attempt to maximize available cap. The complex machinations which ensued are beyond the scope of this post, but here for the interested reader. The net result was that the Bolts were able to endure a $6 million raise to their superstar goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, along with significant boosts on the order of $4 and $2 million respectively to emerging young defencemen Mikhail Sergachev and Erik Cernak on bridge contracts, without being forced to unload key pieces from elsewhere on the roster as many had gleefully anticipated last summer. A tidy piece of work by BriseBois and company.

Long before the pandemic, we binged the entire Sopranos history, 1 episode per night when we were home. That was years after having to wait a week to see the next episode. It's a better series if you can watch it continuously. I'll definitely watch this. -
True, but no need to go that big. The new Jeeps are running a 3.0 turbo diesel with an advertised 442 ft lbs. I drove one a month or so ago... pretty impressive. But, it's also a $70k Jeep.
-
Think about dropping a diesel in it. The right rear end and it'll have more torque than you could imagine.

I wasn't aware. I simply stay off trails that are rated much more than a 5. If I wanted to build a rock-crawler that probably spent more time getting wrenched on than driven, I'd do it. But at my age, I'd rather take the easier trails in Uwharrie, camp for a couple days and not have to replace axles, trailing arms, etc. Get out the hose, clean it off and drive it to work.
-
Sorry I don't meet your high standards.
-
I traded a Tahoe LTZ loaded to the gills for my JK. I love my Jeep. Don't do any rock-crawling with it, but overlanding and trail runs are a blast. Got the roof rack for the wife & gear and the dogs ride with me....

My 2014 Jeep Sahara bought in 2016 for $35k. Some minor upgrades made- 35" tires on 18" wheels with a 2.5" lift. SmittyBilt Defender roof rack, LED head and foglights; KC 5" off-road lights, upgraded speakers. Just rolled 90k miles; had 34k miles when I bought it. Was offered $30k last week.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Tepper owns very little, if any, of the private property surrounding BOA nor does he own the dirt BOA is sitting on. One of the many Richardson companies owned the parking rights and leasing revenue from the annual parking fees, but Tepper wants to own the land as well as everything he builds on it, which is why I think he wants to build new elsewhere.

Former (and future?) South Carolina gubernatorial candidate John Warren continued his reemergence on the Palmetto State’s political scene this month, slamming an egregious piece of corporate welfare awarded two years ago to a liberal billionaire. This bailout was championed by his rival, incumbent “Republican” governor Henry McMaster, and other leading GOP politicians as part of their ongoing “crony capitalist” approach to economic development. Anyone who continued reading beyond this first paragraph and still believed this was honest, factual and objective reporting deserves whatever stupidity they enjoy in their lives.
-
Warren got better as the season went on. There were games this season when he looked like the only guy on the ice with any legs under him, going in hard after corner dump-ins and getting aggressive behind the net. I think he's just beginning to come into his own and I'd keep him over Fast or Bean.
-
The assessed tax value of the land alone is $366k, the building is another $233k. 15 years ago the total tax value was less than $200k... so yeah, he's going to clear a nice chunk of change.

The in-ground we had in Greensboro was my stress reliever after a day at work. Come home, change clothes and go vacuum and clean the pool- I found it very relaxing. I made a snorkel with about 20' of attached hose so I could hand-scrub the bottom or clean the drain in the 9' end without coming up for air.

https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2172836/seattle-expansion-draft-predicting-metropolitan-division-protected-lists "The biggest piece of Carolina's expansion-draft puzzle is Hamilton. The Hurricanes will reportedly let the star defenseman test the free-agent market, opening up an extra protection slot - which we used on Skjei. That would make Bean, who Kraken general manager Ron Francis drafted 13th overall in 2016, a suitable option for Seattle. If the Kraken want a forward, there are some attractive role players available from Carolina's group as well."
