Good, solid win last night against a team that really pushed around the Canes thus far. But they showed last night, took Laine's spot at the left circle away, Domi did nothing and Paquette had 3-4 quality hits.

Like his line, too. RBA built a nice 4th line with him.

Paquette is doing his job- twice Columbus has wanted to drop the gloves with him.

Good win, got off the schneid in game 2 losses on the road. Like most of you, I was very wary of Ned in the SO and was hoping the Canes would end it in OT. That hit Comeau put on Aho was a cheap shot and was hoping he'd make them pay in OT. No idea why he felt he needed to pass the puck. Oh well, Ned looked very comfortable and, for his first SO, was pretty damn cool. In other news, Pacquette and Galyenchuk should be joining the team later today and probably practicing tomorrow.

Had to be Ryan's salary at $3.375M; and Paquette ($1.65M) and Galchenyuk ($1.05M) are both about a year younger. Nonetheless, Ryan has certainly been more productive throughout his career than either Paq or Alex. I gotta believe they're renting these guys knowing they couldn't keep Dzingel at the end of the season. Besides, Ryan's career has been with Ottawa, except for his tour here. Couple thing to consider- maybe McCormick is done for the year and, at age 28, he might not be back with the team. Also look at the contracts of Drew Shore and Joakim Ryan and their respective ages. Interesting move, to say the least. Both guys are rentals and will be gone after the season unless one of them just tears it up the remainder of the season.

So, the odds are stacked against Carolina for the Saturday night tilt against the Stars. Central Division home teams are 20-3 in the second game of these 2-game sets this season ans the Caner are 0-3 as the road team in those situations, losing game 2 on the road to Detroit, Chicago and Columbus. I missed the first and most of the second, but they spent a lot of time in their own end. I like they took away the middle of the ice so their shooters couldn't stroll down main street for an easy goal, but they tend to start packing it in a little too far. One and only Hornets game I attended was a Saturday afternoon game in 1994. Sat in the wrong seats and the usher said, "No, you're down here..." and we ended up sitting right behind Bill Walton doing the color for whatever TV station. Alonzo, Dell Curry, Grandmama, Mugsy, and Robert "The Chief" Parish was finishing up his career after all his great years in Boston. Great thing about being that close is hearing all the trash talk.
