  1. I'm not convinced Necas will still be here after the TDL if the right suitor comes along. I don't think Orlov comes back- he's not played up to the salary he's getting now.
  2. When your team is an embarrassment to the league, you're not getting any benefit of a doubt from the refs. But it wasn't a low block.
  3. If anyone thought for a minute the Canes were going to storm the gates this season, I don't know what to tell you. The off-season saw an exodus of players who accounted for 30% of last year's goal scoring during the regular season. They lost one of the better 2-way defensemen in the league in Brady Skjei and one of the best net-front guys in the league in Stef Noesen. I'm hoping for a .500 season, anything better will be a worthy accomplishment in my mind. I'm not even thinking playoffs this season- I'll be happy if they can gel and start playing as a team. I'm not making this assessment based off one game, because the Canes never played best-on-best in their preseason schedule, so we didn't know what to make of it all.
  4. Kochetkov will be the #1 when Andersen gets hurt. Well, at least he got to the post season. Typically, he's been injured by the time the season ended. Andersen is not an elite goalie and Kochetkov has yet to prove himself as a #1, let alone being elite. And if there's one thing we know about the Canes- they aren't spending money on an elite goalie.
  5. No chemistry. Looks like they've never skated together before.
  6. Without Sergachev, who will Tampa put on LTIR until the playoffs to skirt the cap?
  7. Let's get a goal from the top line and put the defensive clamps on these fugs.
  8. Orlov had a bad preseason- lot of turnovers and missed assignments. I liked the signing- not the money- and still waiting for almost $8M AAV worth of game.
  9. I went from DirecTV to Hulu+Live and I have Bally during the season (suspend my subscription once the playoffs start). I live in the Raleigh market, so I'm not really sure how/why I can see this game. Usually, the home nationally televised games are blacked out, and I miss 6-8 games a year because of that.
  10. Staal!!!! That's me, boys. Picking up where I left off!
  11. You keeping track this season, PC? I'm traveling a lot during the season, so it might be tough for me9 this time around.
  12. At least you aren't paying the highest property insurance rates in the country, if you can get coverage, unlike Florida. My brother-in-law bought a house in Punta Gorda and is in the midst of adding a second master suite. His 2 sons moved down there as well. I don't get it. "No income tax." So, I asked, which is better- no income tax or your $11k homeowner's policy and $7k flood policy?
  13. In all seriousness, I do not understand the fascination with Florida. I don't understand why people seem to flock there, why people find it the ideal place to retire, none of it. I've been there several times, thankfully not for any longer than 4-5 days, but that was enough.
  14. ESPN+ carries their games, and Bally Sports South carries all (home & away) except those nationally televised on NHL Network or ESPN, which is maybe 6-8 times a year. But I'm thinking you mean Hulu or Amazon, etc.
  15. VPN & ESPN+ or Bally Sports. I'm hoping a streaming service will snatch NHL hockey since it's the only league without its own network with every game available.
  16. Canes controlled every aspect of the game against Tampa Bay Friday night. Of course, it was the Canes A team mostly against TB's "depth" squad, as they put it. Kochetkov played well in net, he didn't have to make that many saves as TB's shots on goal totaled 17. One concern I have is Orlov. He wasn't good last night again- a trend during the preseason. He misplayed a couple pucks resulting in turnovers and wasn't able to stop outlet passes up the boards on at least 5 plays I saw. Maybe that's why he's playing in almost every preseason game because RBA has figured out it takes time for him to find his game. Slavin and Burns- exactly what you'd expect. And Burns was surprisingly physical last night. Although credited with 1 hit, he was a physical presence on both ends. The vets all played well- Staal, Aho was active, I had to look for Martinook a couple times, although he made a helluva play to save a goal when Kochetkov got caught out of the net. I also thought the Canes passed up a lot of shot opportunities trying to make the extra pass. And you know that won't sit well with RBA. Get pucks to the net- his mantra.
