The new thing is searching for the next McVay. Which is cool for now, but the pendulum will swing and we'll see a run on the defensive guys like MacDonald, Morris, Graham, and Minter (if what I figure about him comes to fruition.) I think he can bring a lot and the McVay connections are good for staff building. Would he be my #1 pick right now, no. I don't think so. I'd take him over guys like Dan Quinn and Frank Smith though

Who do we think is the next opening to be filled? My money is on Seattle, seems they are going in a different direction than the other 3 teams. I'm Calling Quinn to Seattle.

like 14 years ago..... let it go lmao I can see if it was in this current decade. People can grow, learn, and evolve. Especially over that span of time.

This is why alignment is key.

Why aren't we interviewing Bill Belicheck?
Steelo replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was almost assured he would take an advising job for a season. -

Respect to what he has accomplished, but this is probably why the ATL thing died down. He doesn't really have a coaching tree that inspires confidence post his reign. ATL could get the wins required in a couple years.. 4 max. Where does that leave them afterwards? Restarting all over again. -

I agree with others have said here. He's on the downward slope in terms of career. I get what he could mean in terms of building culture.. but for how long..? -
While I like Canales as a candidate as well, I'd feel even better if we had some more interviews under our belt before diving in.
-
Hinted that we may be interested in Vrabel.
-
Indeed it is. I figured if we don't make a hire today that they were setting themselves up for a swift hire down the line.
-
Especially guaranteed money.
-
I like Albright, but he's not always exactly spot on, he makes sensible predictions though. More so "Would make sense if they have interest in Vrabel"

Joe Person mentioned something about maneuvering yesterday. I guess implying some people are playing their cards close, maybe throwing some smoke here and there. Also something of note is both interviews today satisfy Rooney Rule requirements so next steps may be after that’s out of the way unless someone blows them away. But I’m not telling you anything you haven’t seen or heard here you’re pretty active in this thread. I just think something’s up to go from a candidate pool of 11-12 down to just 3 is suspicious. Especially with his man crush still not hired elsewhere (and in the playoffs granted)

Didn’t Mike McDaniel only have 1 interested team? Not making a direct correlation to ability, but situation.
-
While I agree a year at OC is early, people are salivating over Slowik and he has had one year at OC as well. Some teams want to get ahead of the hype I guess. Slowik/Canales are in the same boat for me tbh.
-
I’m interested in EEs potential staff, where does he snatch an OC from. He IS best friends with Nathaniel Hackett lol

Donnelly: Process used to hire Morgan was wrong
Steelo replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I can totally see the difference but when the interview requests went out it had started already “looks like another yes man for Tepper” thrown around left and right. Yeah hiring internally isn’t the most settling thing (at all), but with how toxic the fanbase was unless we stole a teams proven GM there was gonna be sects that had no faith in the hire. It’s just the state of affairs, definitely understandable all things considered. -

Like forreal, additionally it doesn’t matter who he hires as GM the huddle was going to label them a yes man. The AGM standing up to the GM? Does it matter, the GM is gonna do what they “feel is best” anyways. That’s like the QB coach overruling the OC on play calls.. imagination land. -
Just announce it alrea- wait its almost 3:00 PM out there. Still have time lol
-
That's amazing to hear.

I know some people who got in on the +1800 odds. We’ll see if the bets don’t get canceled lol
-
I know this one, this is the old “the guy I want isn’t getting the job so this guy sucks” tactic. Oldest trick in the book.
