I mean, adding them for a year is pointless, but if you add them long term (Maybe Sans Evans) your prospects for sustained success will go up. If you are making smart moves, that build continuity and foster growth within the team then those moves aren't bad. Adding 3rd wave free agents for 1 year prove it deals isn't the recipe for success and we've been doing it year over year to fill the roster.. you don't need to sign an All-Pro every offseason.. but sign ones that will make a positive impact on the team.

HELP: Won the office football pool, need to pick the prize
Steelo replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd go Pep or Smitty -
In my opinion the only way we spend is extending our players that are worth it and adding long term pieces. Unless its a CRAZY drastic need I don't wanna see a bunch of 1 year rentals. We can fill the ranks with UDFA and see what shakes out.

Bingo. What is important is cap flexibility down the road. Trying to fix everything this offseason is gonna lead to many more offseasons of sub 50M in cap.
-
The reason Moton number is so high is we've restructured him time over time. If he's going to be here long term just extend him and stop pushing the money off. His cap hit won't shrink magically and then in a season we're going to be sitting here saying "Why is moton getting 40m+"

I initially wanted to say decline, but I’m leaning to picking it up. If you have to move him next season atleast he doesn’t walk for free.

Been wondering this same thing. Did we get news that the OC interviews were completed? I know they requested Marcus Brady but no idea if that went down or whatever. Have to be RR compliant (1 minority interview) for coordinator positions.

I actually think ISM can be useful. Id retain him before giving Chark/Viska another year. Use him that WR3/WR4 speed guy while you focus the offense on your drafted rookie and trying to bring along Mingo.

The "Ben Johnson wanted nothing to do with Washington and Carolina" Crowd is truly quite weird... A week before his playoff game he was giddy like a little school girl talking about Adam Peters.. maybe he just doesn't want a HC gig yet.. and that's fine. Because honestly, Commanders were looking like a good landing spot in terms of draft capital and cap. The stuff HCs should honestly be concerned with. I'm not sure what his motivations were in turning down a gig this cycle and I'm sure when/if he does get one he will do well. I'm focused on what we have here.

As a few have mentioned, I don't really care how Morgan does in a press conference.. may not be his thing. I wanna see the results in the coming months. That will speak louder than any press conference.
-
Yeah I'd like to grab one in the draft every 2 seasons or so. Just constantly refreshing that position. Worst case he's trade bait at the deadline if we're log jammed
-
Maybe it's just his air, but Dave mentioned him by name and seemed kind of excited when speaking of RBs. I think we look to improve that position, but it was funny to me he mentioned Hubbard and not Sanders lol

Commanders Hired Quinn lols

Luvu is a high motor high intesity guy on the field and super laid back off the field. I don't have an issue if you have a player that can flip the switch.. much like Luke.
-
He was short and sweet, just what we all wanted. No need to hear him ramble on about random stuff. get to the point of the press conference.

Rumor of Burns traded to Baltimore (probably baseless rumor)
Steelo replied to JawnyBlaze's topic in Carolina Panthers
https://lastwordonsports.com/nfl/2024/01/31/brian-burns-trade-ravens-panthers/ They worded it as a trade they'd love to see. Don't think anything is in the works. -
Well heres to hoping Canales works out, much easier to replace your OC when you don't have to change the overall scheme.

Finally. -
They are de facto top spot now..

I think it's speculation stemming from him being passed over for the HC job... him leaving wouldn't increase his odds of getting a HC job imo.
-
We raved over the hires last time so I’ll take good hires. Let them surprise me.
-
Proud of you.

plus Brad and Canales were both WRs and Brad worked with them in Seattle. WR is pretty covered.

I know we were cool on the idea of Olsen for HC… what about TEs coach?
