I’m talking about for us. In this era of listing over a young OC he’s my sleeper pick

Proven GMs rarely hit the market. It's a shot in the dark imo with hiring a good GM. Helps when you hire one with an actual background in identifying and acquiring talent, raises the odds a bit.

Panther related podcasts worth a poo?
Steelo replied to PantherFanInPhilly's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've never listened to the C3 podcast but I interact with them on twitter a bit and maybe I'd rather not. That being said: The Roar and PNP are my favorites when I'm in the mood. -
@ProcessBlue2 Did a write up on him not too long ago. He's my dark horse candidate.
-
I LOVE MacDonald as a candidate.
-
If I can catch him. /s

That bit is hilarious. Rest of it is just filling time on the podcast and stuff but the Tepper bit is hilarious.

I wonder if him being from the McVay tree is helping him. He's ALWAYS mentioned for HC jobs.

NFC South 2024 Offseason Financials [Spotrac]
Steelo replied to Evil Hurney's topic in Carolina Panthers
Moving Thielen might be a no brainer, Jackson as well. Brown needs to be extended, Luvu resigned. Moton we have to do something with that cap hit, either come down off of it or time to pack for your next destination. I'm not moving Corbett unless we can actually replace him. He may not be the same or he's the next Panther that flourishes in a new destination. NO VOID YEARS. Depending on the outcome with Hursts concussion stuff can probably negotiate a pay cut. Especially if he's going to miss significant time this season. Other than that I'm not tacking on void years or restructuring people who aren't legitimately in our future plans. -
I've seen that kicked around for any destination for Vrabel honestly. Someone even mentioned it being here.
-
Mingo probably has a longer shelf life than Mekhi... I mean Ikey.. my bad. I envision a position change for him to start.. Then after that a flatout replacement. New GM doesn't have to answer for past GMs mistakes, he's already scapegoated.
-
Yeah I heard that too, in the case that Bill stays.. Josh would jump through his own asshole for that opportunity. Yet, with the Vrabel news Kraft has to be pondering just moving on from Bill.
-
Had to be expected, he's interviewed with the steelers last season.
-
Maybe hop in early on the search, maybe Slowik seeing as their GM is a former 49er exec. Don't wanna wait through trade offers and other hires to join the party.

Joke is getting beat to death

I mean as of 11:14 EST Martin Mayhew is still the GM of the Washington Commanders. Can’t clubs block interviews requests for teams who don’t currently have an opening. To each their own honestly I just feel like it’s a backwards approach. If you told them they are gone let them be gone then, you hired 2 outside people to help assist with the transition.
-
Something has been bugging me about today. Washington is requesting GM interviews for a GM spot that isn't currently open... Are you even allowed to interview for a spot that isn't open yet?
-
There's def more coming, missing another minority or female candidate for the coaching search. Need 2 external for either HC or GM so I'm thinking we're looking at between 10-15 names for either spot. That's an exhaustive list imo. Still doesn't account for people declining interviews so I guess better to cast the net and interview what comes in. if we're going up against only 4 other openings for HC... 5 once the patriots figure out what they are doing then I like our odds at getting an HC that we want. My real worry.. I guess is the GM spot. I know who I'd like to hire, they aren't yet on this list. There are names I like on the list though.
-
Agreed, although I was hoping Penix would show enough to get one of these teams to overreact and grab him in the 1st allowing more talent to fall down the board.
-
Yeah you don't have much restriction with GM candidates. The team they are leaving can decline to let them leave right away, but that only matters if they are still in the playoffs or superbowl.
-
That's why they have been running it. Midcarthy has much to be desired in the arm talent department. Run the ball, salt the game away and let it be the end of it lol.
-
The GM list is pretty wide spread, missing Agnew and Peters so far.. I'd wager this is the search firm's initial list. I honestly think both lists are from the firm. Tepper usually obsesses over 1 person.
-
HC is gonna take longer to hire than GM because of the hiring rules in place. He'll have a GM in time to will wittle the list down for 2nd interviews and go from there.
-
The playoff thing only applies after the 1st interview. They can do preliminary ones now but they have to adhere to the hiring process for anything more and certainly cannot hire someone in the playoffs until after they lose their playoff or win the SB.
