Only issue with just promoting Dan Morgan is that Rooney rule applies for GMs as well. You have to go through the entire process even if we ended up with Dan as GM in the end.
-
Steelers don't have enough dumb luck to overcome this.
-
Carthan is doing him a favor, maybe even pulling a dual interview to maybe gauge if they'd bring him on in some other capacity with their new coaching staff.
-
Meh I never put much stock into the initial request when I first saw it. He's got a few so I feel better than if we were the only ones to request him. He'll goto Seattle or stick with Dallas again.
-
Callahan, Kafka, Pierce, Macdonald, the Detroit Lions' Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, the Dallas Cowboys' Dan Quinn, the Houston Texans' Bobby Slowik, and the Philadelphia Eagles' Brian Johnson. (As of 2 days ago) Add in Thomas Brown and that makes 4. Impressive lol
-
Uh I'd have to see who they requested so far, I think they've met the Rooney quota already.. maybe the extra one for good measure to cover their tracks.
-
Surprising first one for Brown. Good for him.

Thank you!

Tl:dr for those who cannot access Twitter?

Brian Johnson is in a Thomas Brown situation right now as a playcaller. He isn't technically the lead playcaller. Sirriani is pulling a Reich and overruling his playcalls, even admitted too it. Not really vouching for him bc I haven't seen him truly running the offense on his own. Very reminiscent of the Eagles offensive woes before Steichen took over as the sole playcaller.

Not out of the realm of possibility.

on the same weekend the Packers Eliminated McCarthy's Cowboys

Yeah I've not heard Dorsey mentioned outside of last years search, I'm fairly certain that's a ship that will never sail.
-
More speculation? lol
-
While I agree, just clearing up confusion.
-
That doesn't mean the interview was eliminated.. it means they were eliminated from the playoffs.

https://nfltraderumors.co/panthers-interviewing-two-gm-candidates-today/ Apparently we interviewed Tilis and Matteo today.

Reich hire felt rushed for sure but only putting your focus on one candidate was recipe for disaster. I imagine with this process there's contingencies in place for if even your 5th preferred candidate is hired away.
-
Someone commented that they don’t think we’ll be in the first wave of hires and I somewhat agree but disagree. It all depends on the big fish. Everything will fall out after that. Once he’s publicly indicated that we’re not an option for them they will move quick into their next set of preferred candidates and make a hire. With the pool of candidates they have now I feel confident in all but maybe 2. It might be Callahan or Monken season and I wouldn’t be overly upset with those choices, not my first choice though. If/when we miss on Ben; MacDonald would be my preferred candidate after Slowik but I have a feeling he gets hired before Ben

I’m less and less worried about how much of a fit they are for Bryce vs who gives us the best chance for sustained success. Tying a HC for fit with a QB we haven’t figured out is the long term solution is a recipe for disaster. A HC worth his salt is going to be able to produce the best product no matter who is on the roster. I also think people are overlooking the fact that beyond the HC you have a couple layers of padding for your QB. Offensive Coordinator and QB Coach. You don’t need a fit for Bryce with your HC hire, they don’t need experience working with QBs like him because they can hire someone with experience to do so. We have to get off this hill of who will or won’t fit with Bryce

Idk how the interview process works fully but don’t you have to officially interview a candidate before hiring them. Like we interviewed Evero last season and interviewed him again. I just don’t think the bread crumbs line up.

That’s such a low bar to clear. I mean Scott had no working football knowledge. If the new GM even looks at a fans mock draft and uses that he’d do way better than SF ever did.
-
Why is the only place I hear about ANYTHING on Kellen Moore is here or random other fans who looked at Vegas betting lines. “Vegas knows something” he was “second” in our search last year. Hasn’t even gotten a virtual interview.
-
I actually have no qualms with Morgan or Samir they wouldnt be my first choices to keep around though. Morgan hasn’t been bad in his role with pro scouting. We’ve had some misses in FA but we’ve had more hits than misses with pro players vs the draft that was Scott’s supposed bread n butter. The issue came where we mismanaged the personnel after they were in the building. I’m in a small minority (microscopic actually) but I wouldn’t hate pairing Dan with a VP from a successful program. I’d take that over certain candidates that they have floated around.

I don’t think it’s as far fetched as some would make it out to be.
