  1. Young's helmet was made by HUTCH . Just kidding--wanted Young. But I am committed to my high levels of comedy.
  2. POTENTIALLY---I think the WR room has never been better. I saw signs from Marshall last year that told me he was ready to turn the corner--and Shenault should have broken out last year but the coaches thought he was to be the designated screen WR...So, if all factions step up as I realistically expect, we can say we have never been as deep or as good--even when we had Smith, Moose, and Proehl---I think this group could be very special. A QB who gets you the ball on time and in stride makes you better--Cam rarely threw after planting his drop foot--when the pass is supposed to be thrown--maybe the WRs were not open, maybe he was not reading the defense quickly--or maybe both were at play. Secondly, Cam's accuracy was not elite by any means. He used his arm strength to atone for his late delivery, and the increased velocity created a ball that was tougher to catch and not on target. That leads to more dropped passes, fewer Yards after the catch--Cam as a passer was not top 10 ever--as an overall force at QB--he was. So now we have that passer who reads quickly, throws an easier ball to catch, and gets the ball out on time. Some will be angry at this, but watch the tape and look at the number of completions and drops. Watch film where he does not throw after planting the back foot. Another point--Cam was not a good screen passer for some reason. That is a play that protects the QB because it keeps the pass rush honest. Young is good at that--so I expect to see improved WR play based on QB alone. In fairness to Cam, Bryce is not going to bulldoze LBs and scamper for 50 yards on third and 32.
  3. All five of the Panther players were on other rosters last year.
  4. These are some good seats.
  5. Boldin, Brown, Moose....Mingo.
  6. I want the white helmets NOW! Take the silver out of the uniform--I know, it's been discussed--but the white just pops. Nuff Said. MHS out. Mic dropped.
  7. Tremble is just a baby, but he has dual threat (blocking/receiving) skills. His route running has been the focus of his development--but again, he is 22. And you are right about Marshall--when Robby/ie/Chosen left, and Wilks took over in a ground-control attack, he seemed to do better. You need the reps, folks, or you are awkward, overly-eager, out of rhythm, etc. Rhule coached like he was playing Madden. I think I would add Shenault to this list. In three years, he has nearly 1500 yards receiving--only 272 in Carolina. He was the bubble screen guy. He is much more than that, and we will see it in 2023. I have been in agreement with Bear Hands all off season. We have players who underperformed here. When you start getting rid of players for not instantly performing, the problem is not always the player. We now have coaches. We had a good draft and excellent free agency, but when you see these third and fourth year players step up, it is going to be like we have an entirely new team--an improved team.
  8. I am guessing OLB--strong side--with YGM, DJ Johnson...
  9. They are going to ground and pound and keep their defense off the field. Ridder will become a game manager with running capability. I am concerned what we will do at NT and I am not tickled about the ILB situation. If we are vulnerable up the middle, its going to be a long season. On offense? I think we will be better than advertised. I think Marshall, Shenault, and Mingo will ball. Chark and Theilen will do as expected.
  10. Looks like, with over 100 people participating, that ATLANTA is our rival, earning 60% of the vote. NEW ORLEANS is second on our hate list, with about 37% of the vote. Tampa Bay? Nobody cares about Florida's west coast--and you call yourselves Buccaneers. about 2%.
  11. I doubt he makes the roster, but if he does, he is cut the day Corbett comes back. Hoping he never sees the field. On the MHS official depth chart of depth, I have Mays at RG and Zavala or Christensen at LG for week 1. After that, McCray is the fourth, and although he plays like he is partially retarded, he has not gone full retard. Never go full retard.
  12. Since the average NFL snaps per game is around 65, (the Panthers averaged 57--32nd ranked--in 2022) that means Michael Jordan would have surrendered over 34 sacks during a 17 game season. Think about that. He sucks. He is the reason Joe Burrow got hurt. This is a pointless signing.
  13. Yeah, because I HATED S. Payton and Brees, but now the Saints are a non factor. Nationally, there was a time when Seattle might have been the answer to that question. We just have never been consistently good--no 2 consecutive seasons with winning records (I think). We are too busy trashing our QB and coaches to worry about the other sideline. I think that just changed.
  14. The problem with Atlanta, and I was discussing this with a friend from Atlanta, is the Falcons and Panthers have rarely been good at the same time--it seems we have battled with Tampa Bay a lot when both teams were respectable. I want it to be Atlanta--based on the geography alone--and that we have been rival cities for dominance in the Southeast, if you don't count Florida as a Southern state (because it is actually a giant assisted living center).
  15. Thought the rival should be part of the NFC South. I am not sure we have an indisputable, biggest rival. The Commanders and the Cowboys, the Chiefs and Raiders, the Steelers and the Ravens, etc. Who is ours? Let's put it to the test.
  16. That brings up a rather unrelated point that probably needs its own thread: Players that were misused under Rhule: 1. Bozeman--should have been starting. 2. Shenault--had 2 600 yard seasons before coming to Carolina. Instead of getting better, he regressed because he was not used as a legit WR. 3. YGM--what was his role and how well was he coached? 4. Marshall---showed promise after Wilks took over and they kicked Robby Chosen Robbie Coolio to the curb. 5. Christensen---is he best at G? Should he be a swing OT? 6. Chinn. Oh my, where to begin. 7. All CBs. You can't have zone CBs playing press man as much as we did that. 8. Ricci--used as a FB/TE--except when Mays came in to play FB or when Tremble or Thomas were in at TE---he is a pass-catching TE who can play in the slot. 9. QBs--Carolina was always the place QBs came to end their careers. Watch Darnold play well in SF--watch Mayfield continue to improve in tampa (after being in LA)> That is how I see it.
  17. They could have him on the edge during running downs and move him inside to DE for passing situations--again, it is funny that we have no idea what he can do yet. We can't trust the previous coaching staff enough to evaluate talent approaching their second contract negotiations--how does that happen?
  18. He is probably a 4-3 DE who may not be suited for the 3-4 Strong OLB role--we shall see. The need for another speed rusher could be due to a lack of understanding--the team can have 2 speed edge rushers in the game at the same time vs spread offenses, but the real need on this team is the OLB on the strong side--where the OLB is to play 2 gap to hold the edge first. To me, that is where we are questionable. Barno, Haynes, and Burns have the productivity to justify not adding another speed rusher (Weakside OLBs). However, YGM and DJ and maybe Leota (UDFA) are all we have on the strong side. If they do not see YGM as a fit, they could trade him--if they could get something for him. If they could not, how is a new approach to the position going to be worth a roster spot. Its complicated.
  19. A roster spot and maybe a conditional draft pick. I still think they want to see him there first.
  20. I just do not think we are signing any more Edge rushers--We have 6 who will make the roster--YGM, DJ, and maybe Leota---speed rushers Burns, Haynes, and Barno. They could shop YGM--maybe--but Evero seemed to be focused on setting the edge...
  21. MIght consider OG Evan Mathis on this
  22. About trading Moore: The focus is on spreading the ball around, referring to Bryce as a "point guard." If multiple players get touches, it takes the focus off one guy--and the need to have a #1 guy. A lot of secondaries adjust around the #1 CB, #1 WR relationship--theorizing that they will have your #2 or #3 beat them. Without a clearly identified #1 but with several accomplished, talented WRs on the field, our #2 and #3 will beat them. I am guessing this leads to more zone? Seriously---in the past, we have had 3 good WRs--2 good ones and a third down, possession WR. Now, we have 5 very good WRs (in theory at this point) Chark, Thielen, Shenault, Mingo, Marshall. Expect to see improvement from Shenault and Marshall. I honestly think this group could be very special by the end of 2023. Hurst is a huge factor in this offense. Last season, our TEs were known for blocking---Thomas and Tremble. Now we have more of an offensive threat.
