  1. I hope not and probably not----It just seems as if every time we have a player I hate, we cut them, then bring them back.
  2. So Brady and the Bills struggle with the Tush push all game, yet he keeps calling it. I don't get it.
  3. troll update: Different plays--nobody cried about what you just posted--doesn't change the fact that they did not call a penalty. And if I want to cry about a missed call, I am going to--Are you suggesting that we ignore it?
  4. Ref update--one of the key passes on the first drive was a RPO with an OL at least five yards down field. No call
  5. He has shown his willingness to renegotiate his contract to keep from being cut. I would bet he will not get any offers and would play for vet minimum. I agree with you 100%---just thinking they could sign a vet at bottom dollar who knows the system---more of a fear than a thought---but I could see it happening.
  6. Take the emotion out of it-- When it comes to starters, we need 2 safeties, a CB, a NT, a 5Tech DE, an olb/edge, a WR, a LB, a TE. (That is 10 starters--over 45% of the roster.) We might get 3 from the draft if we are lucky. That is how a player like Thomas sticks around. You have other priorities.
  7. Yeah, an UDFA that becomes a fan favorite--I like the kid--chatted with his dad during the draft and signing of undrafted players. Really pulling for him.
  8. I am a huge Coker fan---he's our next Brad Hoover.
  9. If you listen to the media, it is starting to look a lot like McCarthy in Nawlins. Not so fast...the odds say they get an old friend who was, according to some, thrown to the wolves, tarred and feathered, and then thrown under the bus in Carolina: (odds from 1/24/25)
  10. If you shout Moooooose Kooooooch in some states PETA will investigate and you might have to tell your neighbors when you move into a new neighborhood. As mentioned earlier, I am learning the game, but it seems to me that we were falling behind a lot and, frankly, losing more than we'd like. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that Aho has been off a bit, but Jarvis is coming into his own--But I like the fact that a professional team in NC does not have an inferiority complex. So my question--are they likely to sign this guy long term? Why trade away assets for a half season? It seems the Canes gave up a lot--draft picks, Drury, Necas for a half season.
  11. If this is true, it suggests that the Panthers can't keep their mouths shut. First, XL announces that he is going to Carolina. Then on Hard Knocks, Schoen (or a member of his team) states that the panthers are going RB in round 2 before their pick. Now this. Morgan--reel em in. Transparency is not to your advantage. There were other times I feared our intentions were shared. For example, When Buffalo (with Beane as the new GM) jumped the Panthers to take Dion Dawkins, we were targeting him--that is how we ended up with Moton, the next OT on the board.
  12. They better know how to use him. They loved Chinn too, and then he was a man without a position and we let him walk 4 years later. The biggest reason they might want him is they can move him around and send him or drop him--causing confusion for the OL--He is a Swiss Army knife--is Evero in the Swiss Army or is he going to use it to whittle?
  13. I heard rumors--after hiring Pierce from within, I guess they decided to the opposite route. I love having Carroll in the NFL--I hated the Seahawks, but I loved his love for the game.
  14. What is curious about this is the fact that the Raiders don't have a QB. I would say that Pete Carroll is the kind of coach I would love to play for. I have a few friends who were former NFL and college players and we discussed what coach we'd like to play for (about a year or so ago)--and coaches we'd not like. All based on outsider's perspective (a few had some weak connections to the grapevine), which is usually not the same as an insider. Popular coaches mentioned: Andy Reid, Pete Carroll, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, DeMeco Ryans, Dan Campbell. Unpopular coaches mentioned: Sean McVay, Doug Pederson, Mike McDaniel, Jim Harbaugh--Josh McDaniels and Jon Gruden came up as well. Understand, this was from a player's perspective and a few knew some of the coaches as assistants back when they played. Mostly positive or mixed.
  15. That is why I posted--I want to learn more about the game on the next level. I was getting upset (watching the game) and directed my anger towards Burns a few times. Last night, Blake tried to clear the zone and failed, leading to a Columbus goal. However, it was my (Naive) impression that Burns put Blake in a bad situation by mishandling the puck right before it--Again, trying to understand the nuances and not afraid to ask--thanks for the detailed response.
  16. I lived in Baltimore (Annapolis, actually) for about 2 as a newspaper reporter. Even when I was not covering the games (and I only covered 1 as a fill in) I used my press pass to get in. I would sit in the press box at first, but it was too business like and I had to pretend to be working (free drinks and sandwiches though) but I found a counter culture of fans who used to sit in the right field bleachers behind the visiting bullpen. Eddie and Cal were playing--I think Billy too for a bit. The reason we sat there was the visiting players in the bullpen would nearly always engage with us--they would hand us $$ or an autographed ball and have us buy them beer or hotdogs--sometimes we'd just pay. We had to be very discrete, so we'd wrap the beer in towels they'd hand us. They would stand on a chair and reach up and grab it quickly. Mostly these were the pitchers who were not likely to play. We were usually engaged in small talk with them throughout the game--this was at the old Memorial Stadium---not the newer place. There was also a catcher with them and a coach who did not seem to ever mind (going from memory). Seattle and Chicago (Sox) were the best bullpens--the Yankees ignored us. But I can tell you that Cal was a LIVING LEGEND up there--everyone loved him. I think he grew up about 20 minutes North of Baltimore.
  17. I love the person and think he is starting to give in to the retirement idea. I was just wondering if he is a liability. I will come back more--I LOVE the game of hockey but was never around it.
  18. I am not a fan of drafting a NT in round 1. Your 3 Techs are your better athletes, in general, but there have been exceptions. A player that does fit the Evero mold for a NT is Walter Nolan of Ole Miss. He is a hair under 300 and is projected to be effective at both the three tech and NT positions. Some argue that playing him at NT is a waste of his talents, however, and a NT in round 1 is a reach, imo. He is projected to be drafted late first. Deone Walker out of Kentucky is a freakish athlete in that he can play every DL position and he is 6'6" and 345. A bit raw, he has the skill set Evero covets, assuming his size is not a deal breaker. He has a second-round grade. I have to think we try to sign a veteran or go with Shy again (hope not). Either way, the NT they may covet (considering all other needs) is Omarr Norman-Lott, a player who could drop to the early 4th round. He is effective from the 0, 1, or 3 tech positions. Has good first step quickness (4 sacks in 2024). Needs to work on technique like all others, can get washed. Smart player--high football IQ. Finally, I would draft Tyleik Williams of Ohio State in round 2 if he were to somehow fall that far. He is a great bull rusher and has freakish speed and power to play any DL position--from 0 to 5 tech. He needs to work on some things, as they all do, but few have the ceiling Williams has. I would interview him to see if he is a dawg and is willing to work hard to be the best because he has the tools to be great.
  19. They are growing on me--they had some off white combos that I did not like--and there was a place to put the Rams' new unis as your favorite--and you could also like the throwbacks. Personally, I like the gold and blue with no white. The problem with that is this--the color of the helmet was darker than the jersey. The Giants had the same issue. The Cowboys have a grayish helmet and pants that have bluish tint to them....Why not match?
  20. I have a question, and I don't read the Canes threads but I watch them on TV when I can. I was not raised with the game and I obviously never played, so I worry that my instincts are naive-- I noticed that a lot of goals are being scored when Brian Burns is in the game--he seems a bit careless with his passes, a bit passive. His shot from the blue line is not getting through like it did before--I realize this is probably the last year he will be here, but is he sucking as bad as it seems? The other day, when the Canes had the game in hand, he blindly lagged a puck behind his own net to no one. The other team (Dallas or Vegas--can't recall) got control and he seemed to panic. I just feel that he has lost a step (or two--he is 40) and mentally, he is not as focused. School me about Burns--
  21. I used to go to Charlotte O's games--Cal Jr and Eddie were there for a brief stint--I recall seeing Eddie hit a grand slam in the first game of a double header, then get ejected arguing balls and strikes in the first inning of the second game. I was just a kid, and I thought that was the big leagues--turns out I was nearly right. I played college ball with K Dean Biasucci at Western--at one time he was the Colt's all time leading scorer. In fact, I dropped out for a year to make $$ and returned in the Spring of 87, and Dean was there-finishing his degree. We didn't really know anyone else, so we'd hang out a lot that semester. He told me that his first contract with the Colts was this (I don't think the NFL Players' Union allows this kind of contract any longer): He made a base salary of $65,000 and then they added $500 per extra point and $3000 per field goal. His second contract was much better....Bert Jones was my favorite Colt ever, but I really liked Mike Curtis in my earliest memories--probably because he leveled a fan who ran across the field during a game--but I loved his fire. Super Bowl V was my first memory, and that year, I got a Colt helmet for Christmas. I remained a Colt fan a year or two after the Panthers came to Carolina--but I have to be loyal to the local team. I think it is silly to root for Pittsburgh or Dallas when you live in Charlotte.
  22. I like the Edge and DT/DE depth in the draft--I think it could hold out until early 3rd--I also like the S depth, and I think we can find one later than early 3rd. If we could walk away with 4 contributors, that would be great---
  23. He was more interesting back in the 80s before everyone had the internet. He could throw out facts and data that we simply did not have at our fingertips. Now he is a bit obsolete, and his opinion (not a former coach, gm, or player) is more of a used car salesman pitch than data-driven analysis and prediction.
  24. I like the fact that they narrowed the shoulder striping, but if we are going to wear uniforms with no silver, I don't think we should have silver helmets. I prefer all white with blue and black logos, but I could see the OLD logo on the black helmet because it has the white trim.
