  1. You are right--we should want him in camp, but for a RB, I imagine film and learning the playbook will keep him busy during that time. We are rolling the dice here a bit.
  2. I heard July 1--going from a memory with a poor track record.
  3. I am going way out on a limb here--I bet Morgan knows more about LB than Huddlers with a bad attitude.
  4. I know you did not just disrespect Van Pran ( C and : does that--I hate it.) I have also wanted to move Wilson to TE--and that could be an option in round 5. I think we need to take Frankin (WR--to make that room scary and to prepare for a Johnson and Thielen exodus next year), Van Pran Granger (The center who would take over at the latest next year), or a CB like Tampa. I like the Kamara pick. He is a second round talent.
  5. I see the reason we would do that--then we'd be scary next year even if Thielen and Johnson leave. I see why we'd draft Van Pran, the C from Georgia when it is possible that Corbett can't cut it and his contract expires in 2025. I see why we'd draft Sanders (TE Texas). I see why we would draft a CB--our biggest need right now-- As for your Franklin argument, he has the potential to become a WR 1. A FOURTH ROUND selection.
  6. He is a bit slow (remember Josh Norman ran a 4.68 or so) so he is only a fit for a zone scheme. Tampa ran a 4.59 at his pro day--did not run at combine.
  7. To me, the best picks for the future? Van Pran Granger (C, Ga) or Tampa (CB, Iowa St). The best pick to surround Bryce (which seems to be the focus (Sanders TE). TJ Tampa could start for us soon, but I doubt he can play nickel until then--so we might need another CB later. I still think TAMPA should be the pick, considering our depth at Outside CB. I like Abrams Draine and Brownlee at Nickel. One could be there Rd 5.
  8. This might blow a mind or two, but since we are USC at Columbia North Campus, Spencer Rattler QB (Seriously, the Raiders should try to move up to our spot and grab him)
  9. THIS PERTAINS TO PICK 101 ONLY If we don't draft CB we are in trouble in that area, however, there is a top TE and C sitting there. Here is my breakdown of the CBs along with a brief mention of the other possible choices. If I were GM, I would take Tampa, fwiw. Nickel Corners My preference: Jarvis Brownlee (One of my favorite day 3 options, Brownlee is tough and aggressive with strong tackling skills. 5’ 10”, a nickel who can play outside because. Aggressive in the first five yards area. NFL Network calls him “good backup with potential to develop into a starter.” 4th round grade. Highest rated: Kris Abrams-Draine (a good tackling CB3–converted WR. Had 6 Interceptions. Good value–had a third round grade. Versatile. Needs to work on tackling. NFL Combine site calls him “average starter” and gives him 3rd-4th rd. grade ) Sleeper: Myles Harden (SDSU-good tackling CB with short arms–projects to big nickel or even safety. Has 4th round grade. NFL Combine site calls him “good backup with potential to develop into starter.”) Outside CBs Highest rated and my preference: TJ Tampa (for some reason, this large outside CB has been overlooked. Maybe because the nickel CBs are in demand) had a 2nd to 3rd round grade according to many NFL sites. NFL Combine site rates him as an “average starter” in the NFL) D.J. James (Rarely out of position in zone or man. Outside CB. Struggles with larger receivers and not great in run support–teams will run at him, in fact. Lance Zerlien gives him 3rd rd. grade. NFL Combine site calls him “will eventually be a plus starter”) Nehemiah Pritchett (6’ outside CB who ran 4.36, he is probably a CB with day 2 value in some schemes. Not a strong tackler and slow hip rotation could necessitate S help over the top. Rated “good backup with potential to develop into a starter.” 4th round grade. Caelen Carson (Kind of a mixed bag. Best in press man coverage. Outside CB. Good tackler but takes bad angles. Injury history 2021 and 2022. Limited experience. NFL Network site gives him a 3rd round grade with the “ability to be average starter” rating.) Cam Hart (6’3” outside CB who held Marvin Harrison in check. Can play TEs and tall WRs well. Not great in run support at this point. 4th round grade according to NFL Network Combine site. Rated “good backup with potential to develop into a starter.” Khyree Jackson (6’ 4” outside CB who is a good tackler and wins contested catches. Only started 14 games in college. 4th round grade. Rated “good backup with potential to develop into a starter.” Might make a better S.) Decamerion Richardson (Probably a Safety. Ran 4.34 but has below average coverage skills. NFL Network calls him a “backup with special teams ability”) MHS Recommendation: Draft Tampa at #101. If we are looking for a Nickel, draft Brownlee Tight End Ja’Tavion Sanders Texas He can get up the field from in-line or from the slot, beating man coverage at his route stems or separating quickly from turns. He is able to dig in and win combat catches underneath and has proven to be highly effective running the seam or catching intermediate throws into zone pockets. Teams looking for a tight end with a more complete game might pass on him, but his potential to open up the passing game and become a highly productive pass-catcher should be hard to pass on. Rated “eventually a plus starter” by NFL Network and predicted to go rounds 2-3. Center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger would be an ideal pick to groom for 1 year to prepare for a starting role in 2025. 3-4 rd grade, Lance Zerlien calls him a solid day-2 pick. Rated to “become an average starter”. This would be a smart pick for the Panthers in round 4. Second Wide Receiver Here, I think we need a slot WR, and I would take a look at Rice or Washington.
  10. He will watch a ton of film, learn from the two vets in front of him, play special teams--remember, the focus is on developing him. I wanted Wilson, but this tells me Wilson is not what he appears to be. Hate it for him, because he can ball.
  11. 65--gotta be corner, but if Wilson is there, we will take him, imo.
  12. OK, if you were going to build a system around a young, small QB who got hammered last year, what do you do? You follow the Saints' model and bring in two stud guards. You add a first round WR. You trade for an X WR. You add the best RB in the draft, one that blocks, catches, and runs. We may add a TE tomorrow. You see, when the Defense is not afraid of your guards, your WRs, your RB, and your TE--they tend to pin their ears back. That makes playing QB very difficult, something some of the more astute Huddlers have noticed. Now they have to fear our OL, WR Johnson, WR Thielen, WR Legette, RB Brooks--all pretty elite. The Defense is less likely to pin their ears back. This is how Payton designs his offenses, and why they call him the QB whisperer. Yes, we will run the ball and I think we will feature motion, short passes, slants, etc. with a focus on YACs. The RB was an important piece, and I doubt the RB we needed was going to be there in the fifth. I hate drafting a RB, but I understand it.
  13. We have added 2 starters. Hope we can find one more--maybe a nickel. The offense needs a TE and we should be much improved.
  14. Basically, we were going to take the RB this round. We trade back, get a second rounder in 2025 and a fifth. We trade up from 52 to 46 for two fifths. In other words, we added a sorely needed second rounder in 2025 for a fifth rounder in 2024. We dropped a total of 7 spots.
  15. Are you under the impression that he needs to suit up next week? You do realize the season starts in 5 months and he will be cleared July 1---right? Stewart was drafted during his surgery. In the first round. He was a good player. Point?
  16. By the way---just be glad you are not a Falcon fan, although I think some of the people here are--the drafted a QB in round 1 and a DT rated around 100 in early round 2.
  17. Where are these Debbie Downers coming from? Are they Cicadas? You get the best RB in the draft vs. the 10th best CB. I wanted the LB. However, a RB that can catch better that Chuba, block better than Chuba, and run better than Chuba--behind our new guards---I see it.
  18. I am happy to get the fifth. That is the WR TE round of day 3.
  19. what scares me? Are we targeting A RB? We should have a LB or two, a CB or two, and maybe even a WR or two--and probably any RB we want.
  20. Not gonna lie--personally, this would upset me. There are only a few RBs in the league that rise above the status quo--dime a dozen label--and we had one here, but traded him. I just do not see a special back that makes me think we would be much better off with him. No CMCs, no Derrick Henrys.
  21. We could really use a cb and LB, but if they are determined to build around Bryce--you can't do it as well with a sub par RB and generic TE. Maybe our thinking has been wrong.
  22. We also need a back that can pass block. Chubba sucks in that area, and his hands are suspect. So aside from toting the rock, he is a liability--especially when we become one-dimensional as you describe.
