  1. I think we will take Pitts or a WR and not a T, but I want a T.
  2. I think it is funny how foreign an idea is that does not fit into our mindsets--so when I hear Verge mention Waddle, I want to correct her and explain why this is not possible. What does a LT do? Keep a defender off your QB. What does a slot WR with Moore and Anderson do? Keep a potential blitzer off your qb. he gives your QB a clearer pre snap read. He finds the third DB and makes (at times) a LB cover your TE. Notice I have not mentioned catching passes yet? Last year, the problem was not LT as much as it was the LT/LG combination. While I do not think we are done, I think we think we addressed that on the first day of the free agent tampering period. Erving and Elfein were targeted by us--why? We also re-signed Scott. Could Erving be the LG, Elfein the C? Who knows where this goes, but I think we have NOT really addressed slot WR--We have #1, #2, and #4. And don't get me started in the return game. So yes, I see Waddle's value. Are there WR weapons at 39? Not on that level.
  3. So we let Samuel go for big money and we upgrade with the first rounder. From the sounds of the big board, the Panthers do not seem too interested in trading back---of course, all of us have our price. Mine is a box of hot Krispy Kremes and a Meatloaf CD with a half a tank of gas and nowhere to really go.
  4. I used to coach OL for a good high school team, so I learned enough to be dangerous. He has great feet, not overpowering, second level is awesome, and he is a solid starting LT who they say would be a better G--that flexibility could be important if he does not pan out at LT...
  5. As long as it does not hinder development of young players. I want to see how Pride makes the transition from rookie to sophomore. Hartsfield was listed as a S, now they have him as a CB and he was playing some nickel. This should keep Jackson away from their #1 WR, which is good.
  6. I see trade ups (Denver to Atlanta 4 or Miami 6, for example) and then maybe New England or Washington with Carolina (8). Here is why: Atlanta wants to move back--it is the smart move. Denver is the closest to Atlanta, so they might trade up. However, if Denver does not trade up, the Panthers then become the trade target because everyone thinks Denver wants a QB. NE, Washington, and maybe even Philly, Chicago, etc could be on the hunt. If Lance survives Cincy, Miami, and Detroit, we will get offered a ton. So watch Denver--they may move up with Atlanta or Miami. --and if they are not aggressive and think a QB will fall to them, teams will want to move up to 8. Here is the plus side: If 4 qbs go early, then that leaves three other players that I consider to be generational talents: Pitts, Sewell, and Chase. However, Waddle and Smith are not far behind. And if a team reaches or takes a jaw dropper--and I see a player like Parsons or Slater or Darrisaw possibly being that player, then it could drop one of those players to us. In that case, I am not sure I trade--Chase, Moore, and Anderson? Are you kidding me? Pitts Moore and Anderson? Tough to cover those guys. Sewell? Forget LT for a decade.
  7. I like the topic Basbear-good thread. SF was supposed to be going after Jones, but they are putting Lance and Fields through their own QB drills. Due Dilligence or have they changed their minds and have it narrowed down to 2? Denver will move up. How far? Dunno, but watch them--I am guessing Miami or Atlanta....
  8. Absolutely. However, he had one and drove him into the ground--going for the immediate reward at the expense of long term success.
  9. I imagine there is some communication between the two front offices considering the Rivera Hurney connection---or they are not communicating at all and we are the last team they'd deal with.
  10. If the logjam at the bottom breaks--Sf takes Jones, Atlanta goes Sewell or pitts etc, there could be offers like this. RR is NOTHING without a QB to save his ass. He would be an asterisk in most programs. He would be the guy who parachutes before the enemy starts firing. He would be the kid at the ice cream truck who falls down, bloodies his knee, drops is quarters, and still wants ice cream. I have no idea where this is going now.
  11. One local media guy had them trading to 9 for lance--if Lance is on the board at 8...

  13. I have been working and going through Huddle down time withdrawals. So before I look at the rest of the posts, I think it was PFT that reported that Washington may give up their entire draft for Lance. If so, it could mean that they trade with the Panthers.
  14. That is what they are paid to do and that is our system of justice--and it is good for the most part. When you drink and drive, every other minor infraction becomes more vulnerable-jaywalkers, for example, are more vulnerable. I had a guy on his phone walk right out in front of my car as I approached campus at UNC--he never looked up--middle of the street--I was traveling 45 or so, and it might have been a 35 zone. Had I hit him, his lawyer would have argued that I was speeding, and it caused the accident. I would have argued that he was jaywalking and walked out into a street designed to transport cars, and the speed had nothing to do with the fact that he entered my path while distracted. Had I been drinking, however, it changes everything. You cant say I was speeding and drunk and he used poor judgement.
  15. Is that you, Matt? Enjoy the prom.
  16. forethought. We are going to be offensive--that is a fact.
  17. Ruined this for me. Damn you.
  18. Nah. I think he knows that some people are unteachable. The irony here is palpable.
  19. Sure as hell was not talking about sex here, right? Who is with me? (not bad for one handed typing) MHS out.
  20. Lotta you guys have some pretty quick access to Payton look-a-likes. Probably doesn't mean anything.
