  1. Brown is a high character guy with tremendous work ethic (according to coaches here and at Ohio State). He is a fan favorite. He has reliable hands, can run most of the route tree and he can get deep. He is not going anywhere.
  2. When I played, it was the Defense vs. the Offense in the locker room. I think the DBs would probably agree with CJ in this case though.
  3. Gettlemen is collecting fallen stocks in hopes that one or two rebound. How good is Matsko? Well, I think he got all he could get out of Bell. Bell is just that bad. The best examples are Remmers, Turner, and Norwell. No experience/rookies/etc. System + chemistry + coaching + talent....who knows? How much will it cost to find out? Not much. Some people really perform when their backs are against the wall. Oher, Chandler, Martin--they all have that in common. This is their last chance, and they probably know it.
  4. This has the potential to offend current Panther DBs.
  5. I am glad you could tell I was playing around. Tried to hit a smiley but they are frozen. I have a dry sense of humor. I have similar concerns.
  6. Gettlemen is looking for deals in the damaged goods bin. If you all do not get it, start bitching because Gettlemen is not signing Duane Brown or the next Tony Boselli. If he is good, he will stick. If not, he will be cut. I am sure we don't have a ton wrapped up in this move.
  7. We could have a pair of pretty famous (or infamous) tackles come September.
  8. Consider this: He is 25. Have you checked out the careers of other first round tackles taken recently in the draft? It takes them 2-3 years to develop, as a general rule.
  9. 10 to 1 you would not say that to his face if there were no laws or friends to protect you and no way out of the room.
  10. Disclaimer: I am not a State fan. In fairness to Cotchery, the timing was off last year (New WR corps, QB injury) until the end, when he became more of a factor.
  11. I think, if we get a good OL, Running game, and Cam steps up as many think he will under those circumstances, you could be right. I am leary of a WR who was good in a great passing system with only hall of famers throwing to him, and when he leaves that system, he struggles a bit. I said I was torn--I am just questioning the fit. Your post makes me feel better about it, but I am still on the fence at best.
  12. Guessing Robert's son? I do not like anything about that organization, so I don't pay attention. I am really getting tired of Roger Goodell too.
  13. It has probably been stated in 24 pages and I am not reading it all to see, but I do not want him here--mixed emotions on it--but here is how I see it---he didn't have many more yards that Cotchery last year. He would be more expensive and we would probably have to cut Cotchery. It would lower our need for a WR, and he is not giving us an explosive deep option (I am tired of hearing that we addressed that issue from RR when we signed Ginn). I want them to quit trying to fill the #2 WR role with shadow puppets. Lets put a real, genuine threat there. The draft has many, and I dont care if it is another rookie--last year we played 2 rookies.
  14. We are in a good negotiating position here. There it is-offer on the table for a while--shop yourself if you want... We do not have to have him and he probably does not have to have us. However, If I am DG, I am not giving a long-term deal to a 30-year old CB.
  15. This is what I have tried to say for months, but people get pretty defensive about it. He has the tools--no QB has ever had better tools with which to be great---but he is not there yet. When he gets time, the game will slow down. When WRs can get open, his accuracy should improve. However, I am not going to crown him until all of the parts are working together. Nor am I blaming others until we see consistent qb play--regardless of the reason he is inconsistent. But what a weapon. When pieces finally fit, we are going to see an unstoppable offense. With our defense and improved special teams, we have a real chance to be the best team in the NFL.
  16. A few notes for clarity: I have not read all of the thread. Apologies. I read a few pages. Tolbert is a charismatic leader on this team. He was very good in 2013. In 2014, he was not. A 5'9" back carrying 255lbs is not going to last forever. Most backs start their decline between their 26th and 27th birthdays. I would not accept Tolbert as a player who will return to 2013 form. I do, however, have a problem cutting him, but that is the business. Harper became one of Rivera's boys quickly. He is like that brown-nosing guy in the office who everyone hates but the boss loves. How much of the late season resurgence was centered around his leadership? If you think so, I would ask, "Where was the impact on DeCoud and Cason?" I would have to think Harper is expendable. A few others who could be cut: Silatolu and Kugbila. Silatolu would be a great backup at G, but he would be somewhat expensive as a second rounder. He may want to be released to prove something somewhere else because nobody wants to lose a starting spot during a contract year. Kugbila was always a project, so we shall see what we have during the 2015 unveiling. If you are worried about depth, both could be cut if Chandler is moved back inside to guard. Brockel. He does the little things and is a good blocker, but if we drafted a true FB (Tolbert is not that) and if Ed Dickson grows into his role, Brockel could be the victim.
  17. Want some good news? We have 9 draft picks coming next month and we have 2 free agents deciding on offers. Right now we could take the field and be better than we were in 2014 at OL and WR. Look for an OT, WR and RB in the draft. Upgrades to those positions will also result in an upgraded qb. I think the offense finished ranked about #20. I expect that alone is enough to put us in the top 12. The defense should be top 5 and I expect special teams, the focus of free agency, to be MUCH better.
  18. This is blasphemy!! Don't get mad when his own head coach says this. He is not dissing Cam either, something some of you numb nuts don't get. He is simply describing the development of his qb. A qb who was not ranked in the top 15 last year but has the potential and athleticism to be the best qb in the league. (I know, I know. OL, OC, WR, are to blame) Cam needs to improve his mechanics. Period.
  19. Keep laying it out there, Dawg. I appreciate your effort and respect your eye. I may not always agree, but that does not mean you are wrong. If this guy becomes a mini Megatron, people who criticized will disappear and start griping about other stuff.
  20. The similar flaw is the inability to catch consistently.
  21. It seems to me that the blazing fast WRs can't catch-that is what I am reading about him. I have not seen him at all.
  22. We have 9 draft picks, gentlemen. You don't eat the cake until the frosting is on it or you will be disappointed. We have met needs--that means "we stopped the bleeding." I do not think it means that we are sizing our fingers for rings. Giving Gettlemen 9 picks--If you subtract Gaffney, look how much he did with 10 picks over the past 2 seasons--is like adding 2 chambers to Clint Eastwood's .44.
