  1. I was there too--remember those souvenir tickets in plexiglass that they gave out? Remember people wearing tuxedos? Remember Cleveland handing us about a 40 point loss to a standing ovation?
  2. Not sure about the timeline, but at this point last year, were we (Huddle) not looking for #1 rounder for Cam? There is time, but moving Wentz after June 1 makes more sense than now, if only looking at the cap figure---as best I can interpret it.
  3. I have heard that for 2 years now. Not sure they know what they are doing
  4. He played pretty well in LV, but if the Raiders thought they had something there, they would be trading Carr now. I do not see it.
  5. Are you referring to Jake Delhomme or Teddy Bridgewater? I am trying to think.
  6. I think Rhule and Carroll are the same basic coach as well--but that is just recent.
  7. When Cam was injured here and we were all having constructive, objective, completely unemotional discussions on his future, I was in the "Cam has been rode hard" camp, and questioned his longevity due to the amount of a beating he had taken--Cam had been hit twice as many times more than any other active QB. #2 was Wilson. While he has not absorbed the direct hits Cam has, he is much smaller. I also think that he is a bit of a narcissist and his best days are behind him. Having said that, he could play another 5 years--and would be a nice acquisition--but I do not see it.
  8. Nail on head--that contract is the reason the picks are not the issue--they seek to dump the contract, and the dead cap is tremendously different in a post-June 1 trade, if I am reading OTC correctly. So Philly is in a bit of a bind. I am not smart enough to figure out what might be the issue here, but can the agree to trade a player June 2 NOW? Cap savings post June 1 trade is over $25m. Before June 1, the cap savings for a trade is listed at $850,000. I do not get it, but that has to be a factor at some point. Maybe someone who understands this better than I do can explain what might be going on--if I am reading this right.
  9. In fairness, I am probably the worst evaluator of QB talent ever. But if you compare the group now to this group now--no doubt. A year with a normal football schedule will help the 2022 group. What would you have said about Burrow in 2019, for example? It is like comparing a rose to a bulb yet to bloom--a star to a sun---a tadpole to the mighty bullfrog---a--Ok, I am back! Seriously, I agree with you, but I like to challenge conventional wisdom and take a look from a different perspective.
  10. I see Rattler and Howell--right now--getting drafted before Lance and Fields--and I may be exaggerating a small bit--but there is some paralleling between 2021 picks 2-4 and 2022 picks 1-3. It was a bad year to show your skill set. I do see a full season in 2021 producing another elite QB or two. Waiting another year to see if this happens or that happens is not an aggressive approach. I hope we do something now, just without selling the farm to buy a prize cow.
  11. I thought the 2022 QB class was limited as well but a few 2021 possibles are returning, and if they develop, this could be a better class than in 2021. Let's face it, in 2021 we have 4 QBs and some other question marks. In 2022, I see 4 top QBs, but none with Trevor's skill set, but the top 4 in 2022 as it stands now could compete with the 3 other first round QBs, Fields, Lance, and Wilson. I think the following will be first round selections: Spencer Rattler Oklahoma Sam Howell North Carolina Jayden Daniels Arizona State Kedon Slovis Southern California JT Daniels Georgia Tyler Shough Oregon These 3 QBs have potential, and they could rise with a good 2021 season: Desmond Ridder Cincinnati Brock Purdy Iowa State Tanner Morgan, Minnesota So I see 2022 as a good year for QBs, but they are different animals-not all fit all systems. I would say the depth is going to be better, but the star quality is a bit underwhelming at this time.
  12. Dolphins may be too pricey--what a lucky deal that was, to get Houston's pick--and Cincy may not budge. Dare we trade with Atlanta? They are unlikely to agree to a deal that would send a top QB to a rival. So that leaves Philly, and they may be the best trade partner, if you do not think a team like Dallas (rumors) or Denver or SF, or NE---will offer them more. In fact, there is no indication that Detroit is sold on Goff. So for us to have a winning culture, we win a meaningless game and miss out on what might be the best QB draft in years. Stupid, if you ask me. The best move is to bring in a veteran like Trubiski or trade for Minshew, trade back in the first, and build capital for 2022. If the QB does the job, great. If not, you stand a better chance of grabbing your franchise in 2022 than in 2021. It just seems to me that beating Washington cost us a first round draft pick---in 2022--because I see few scenarios where that pick is not part of a package. That is what this winning culture in a meaningless game cost us. Still mad at the chest pounding stupidity. There was nothing wrong with getting a long look at Grier in that game-trying to win. Nothing wrong with playing your rookie CBs. Not us. We gotta hang that 5-11 banner.
  13. I am thinking this may boil down to Watkins, and I am not sure that is even an option or will be one we can afford, moving up in the draft, or gambling on a player like Trubiski or Mishew. People here are screaming for Watson, but the cost will make it nearly impossible to build around him. We will have a flashy, entertaining QB who gets sacked a lot, has no defense, or has no weapons--you cannot have it all. Familiar territory for us. Gardner Minshew on a good team would be good. Trading for him (a player, preferably (they need a DT, TE, and OT) would be ideal, but they have 2 first rounders in 2021. However, Minshew should not draw top QB attention, even though he quietly had good numbers in Jax. So a player, maybe someone like Thompson (or tag and trade Moton if he does not want to be here after 1 year), and maybe a future third rounder. Then you can use your first rounder to trade back for a future first rounder, acquiring the ability (along with Detroit) to move up in the 2022 draft for a QB. I am not sure there are any real solutions that do not require us trading away draft picks. And yes, I am pissed to be a fan of this "winning culture" that does not routinely win.
  14. The better approach to thread may have been, "Will Cincinnati trade out of the fifth spot and risk losing Sewell if others want to move up?" I am not sure they would trade away the best LT (to protect burrow) to come out in some time--especially after watching their first overall draft pick getting carted off the field last year. Remember, Cincy is the land of Tony Munoz.
  15. My wife calls me for personal fouls all the time--and "illegal motion," and "illegal procedure," and "interference." I am leaving when she flags me for "too many men in the huddle."
  16. And I think "How good did she have to be to overcome the bias that I am sure she faced?" I saw the same thing you mentioned. Her spots were accurate, and I imagine Mahommes is tough to mark on the sideline---
  17. And the plot thickens.... Holy crap--never thought of this.
  18. I would add that my impression of the female officials was positive. They really did a solid job, based on my observations. Better? At times, equivalent--the rest of the time. Hats off to them.
  19. I am not sure about Detroit--I doubt they go QB, but with those picks next year, they are set to give Goff a season and move up for a top QB in 2022. So I doubt it, but we should test it by asking them what they would take for Goff. Just window shopping, fwiw. But you cannot forget the teams who will not have a QB they like drafting behind us--hopefully, free agency and trades will fill a few of those openings, but as it stands now... a lot depends on teams within mortar range of moving up with Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Detroit. I worry about SF, Denver, New England, Minnesota, and possibly Dallas.
  20. Encouraging and surreal. Encouraging: We had 25% of the cap in dead money and we lost our franchise QB, star RB, TE, All Pro MLB, etc. and we were in most games--winning five. Surreal: No fans in stands, no preseason, no camp, etc. Just seemed like a bunch of scrimmage games.
  21. Glad you did--it totally escaped my line of thought. Regrouping.
  22. Certainly--Foles is not a starter, but is the best backup in the NFL (along with Fitzmagic, I suppose)
