Both sides have risk. Some people operate in a world where everything is black and white, hot and cold, etc. others understand various degrees of temperature and can function in that gray area. There are a lot of variables. All must be considered and nothing is guaranteed.

Miami trading Tua for Watson and a first rounder is a bit risky--but the Panthers are offering 3 first rounders. They can trade with Carolina, get the 8th pick and maybe some players, and they can also trade the first rounders with Atlanta, for example,, and they would get Fields and Atlanta could move back age grab Jones (Ryan's replacement) or Fields or Mond.... So the Panthers are the only team in the top 8 who will go "all in". Spoiler alert--watch Denver.

I agree with this. There are some much cheaper rookies waiting to be drafted--that will play hard for a fraction of what Samuel will charge. We'd like to have him back, but it aint happening.

Fields is starting to sound like a slightly smaller version of Cam to me. The processing concerns bother me, as is the comment about throwing off the back foot. He holds the ball too long as well. No doubt he has the gun and the wheels. Does he have the noodle? Throwing off the back foot and holding the ball too long are often signs of poor anticipation and/or slow processing. He needs the right coach because he is capable of learning and you can't teach the physical tools. I am starting to think he is the guy if we can get him--because 1 and 2 will be gone. None of these qbs are finished products--and I agree, they all need to sit for a bit. I will be very interested to see what goes down with Trubiski later next week. That might be a good indicator of how hungry the market is for QB or how much faith there is in this QB group. I cannot make up my mind about Lance---I wanted him badly a few months ago, and now these comments are talking me out of it. Jones---boom or bust-I think it depends on the coach and system that selects him. Fields? He has the tools. Trevor? Could he be overrated? I'd still take him, but his accuracy issues in a fairly weak conference etc. Wilson? Again, he needs the right team and system. NYJ's could ruin him. So what is the best move? Free agency? Draft? If so, who? Popcorn ready.

They all have some red flags and question marks, but this year these QBs will be broken down more than other years--so many people want a QB, so many people will spend the next 7 weeks breaking these guys apart. It is funny that so many scouts differ on the same player--they represent different systems, however. And fwiw about the scout making obvious statements about Jones and Brady--- He would have said the same thing about Tom Brady in college. In college, Tom Brady was not the next Tom Brady---hoping that makes sense. I get his point--and I fear we could be passing on a really good QB or we could be taking Clausen II. That is why I hope Rhule and Co. did their homework. However, the scout talks about players' physical tools when comparing them to Brady--you need to compare the mental tool. That is what I speculate to be the reason Brady is Brady--because he does have tools others had-- I love this time of year---the more I dig and explicate, the more I am wrong.

Do you think your list applies only to Alabama players or could all programs try to do those things? And some of the statements are simply not true. Stats like Teddy behind the LOS--etc. His average pass attempt was 11.2 yards. Come on, man. Shoot straight. I can provide a video that praises Jones--so I am still unconvinced. You may be right, but I wanted some concrete evidence to support your position. Did not get anything but hyperbole and cherry-picked video. He did not have any unfair advantages--he did not have a super team and everyone else had sand lot rejects---he won and did so impressively. 77.4% at an 11.2 yards per attempt, 350 yards per game and 42 TDs vs 4 Ints. Not many people have come close to that.

77.4% completions. 42 TDs vs. 4 Interceptions. 349 yards per game passing yards. 11.2 yards per attempt. What more are you looking for? Oh-and a national title. None of the QBs across the bottom of your list came very close to these numbers.

Good debate--why I love the next 7 weeks. But don't assume Jones sucks because his numbers will dispute your opinion. He wins and he produces.

I am not sold on Jones, but I am not sold on any of them. Most qbs will tell you, success is dependent upon how quickly you can process--if you have the tools. And people criticize me about comparing Jones to Brady for the purpose of demonstrating the success of a non-mobile QB. I think it is not a fair comparison because Jones is better. Why do I say that? Compare Jones' senior year of college to Brady's senior year of college. They want to compare Jones in college to the Brady we know now. That is not fair to Jones.

All qbs have weaknesses. Can you answer my questions? If he has this much concern, how did he have so much success? I provided the numbers. Can you explain it?

So are all of these your opinions or do you have specific sources? How can you do what you describe and complete 77.4% of your passes for an average of 350 yards per game? 42 TDs and 4 Ints. It does not add up. If he has all those problems, how did he do that?

Jones cannot run, but he can move in the pocket. His arm strength is average. He processes faster than most other QBs. He is accurate. So if anyone can explain it to me why Jones is not going to be a good QB in the NFL, tell me what it is you see. Remember, Brady just won a ring and he has more rings than all the Super Bowl champs with mobile QBs combined. So tell me what it is about Jones that makes him such a bad option? Be specific, and use stats if you can. And do not say "The league is now all about mobile QBs." The Tampa Bay Bucs and the Alabama Crimson Tide won titles THIS YEAR. Again, be specific and use stats to support your answer.
