  1. Rushers often take 3 years to develop into what they are going to be---Johnson, Hardy, Rucker, etc. all blossomed year 3. Burns is entering year 3 and Reddick just had a breakout year in Arizona in his fourth year. I expect 20-25 sacks from them. I want Chinn as the QB of the secondary, at S not LB. Yes, he can play in the box but he is so smart, we need him seeing the whole field and supporting those CBs. The LBs are solid if they can stay healthy--Carter is a decent backup who wants bag. This is his year to earn it. Cutting Kerr showed to me a lot of faith in Roy. Expect him to step up. All in all, we are 1 stud CB away. I am not sold on Jackson's injury history and Pride is still young and developing. Hartsfield is another player that should be menitoned--according to Fua and I believe him, he looked good at the nickel spot last year. Of course, as mentioned, we have a lot of variations to this and have the depth to make use of them. Gonna need to stay healthy.
  2. I think we are experiencing some labor pains. We are either going to have a beautiful new QB or a bloody mess on our hands, depending on the perspective and outcome.
  3. Based on what I have read, nothing is borderline rape or anything like that, if true. So I say do your homework on Watson, and if you believe in him as a person, this might be the moment to buy. Houston can't handle the negative reputation, and we can support him. If he did do it, put him into some therapy, write a check to compensate women who felt violated to some degree, and it probably goes away. UNCfan88, I am a white person who fights for social justice of all kinds. I teach seminars on the subject and have written 2 books that feature social justice, equity, racism, cultural responsiveness, etc. throughout. While I believe it is real and I see the plight of those who struggle to overcome it, one of the biggest threats to accomplishing social justice is careless finger pointing and accusations. Blanket statements that suggest everyone who did not like Cam or Watson is a racist hurts progress in this area because it increases the divide. I am not saying that this is not true in some cases, but in actuality, you don't know--you merely suspect. So in your attempt to call out racism, you use the tactics of a racist. I support you and know it exists, but until you come to a determination based on fact and not supposition or hunch, it is not productive. The guy is being accused of things that could represent a major character flaw and we are about to send the immediate future of this team and some key players to get him. I am pretty sure that is the issue--what we are giving up to get him and what we are risking by doing so--not race.
  4. Tackle is getting interesting. (FWIW, I think we picked up some steals today, and I think Elflein will be solid at LG) Tackle: This really seems like the signing we would make if we were planning on moving Moton to LT. Scott was signed--good depth and an emergency fill in if Moton fails. However, we also picked up Ewing, a first round bust who can play every position on the OL. Now, we all want that Sewell LT, but if we play Moton there, all we have to do is find a RT--enter Daley, Scott, and Ewing to compete for the Right Tackle job in this scenario. Little does not count unless he found religion over the break. If Moton stays on the right side, that forces us to draft LT, in my opinion. Not the end of the world, but not the best scenario. I want to say Daley kicks in to guard, and I hope we draft one. That G from Notre Dame kicked some SR Bowl butt, and I like Anderson as a late round G from Tex Tech. The key to this working is Moton succeeds at LT---then everything falls into place.
  5. I think the same thing, but he is more athletic and he has never been on a good offense. Teddy has played for 4 NFL teams--we know him now. I am not saying go all in on Mitch--I am saying he could be brought here knowing there is a shot at starting. Then trade up for a QB in the draft. You can play Trubiski for a year and if he does well, trade him when the rookie is ready. To me, it is like insurance and an upgrade if things fall apart.
  6. Do you know that he won 6 games and lost 3 on an 8-8 team and completed 67% of his passes? Do you know much about the Bears OL? The WRs and running game? You see, if you sign him, you are already better than TB and you still go after drafting a QB. It is not Watson--I get it--but you must learn to comprehend that there are things in this world that are smart even if you do not think they are. Nobody knows how Trubiski will do in another system with good WRs--not me--and not you. So cut the chest pounding crap and learn how to consider all possible options without getting those panties in a wad.
  7. I think you might be simplifying the Huddle's perspective so you can build a case against your argument. I see mixed emotions, some waiting. Antonio Brown? Well, he had pleaded guilty of burglary a year before he was accused and it did not involve the possible future of the Panthers. Other things were coming out about Brown that suggested problems in the ole noggin. Watson has been the all American boy made good, and the day bad news breaks about him, you seem shocked that people would want to reserve judgement. No warning signs. So these are different scenarios altogether, but your system of logic is exposed, not Huddlers, in my opinion.
  8. You have to think Watson's price tag just dropped. Maybe now is the time---ride it out, put the man in counseling, and take the risk for a lesser trade.
  9. Is the smart move now to sign Trubiski and draft a QB, trade Bridgewater to SF? Saving $10 m to trade TB, and that is about what (I think) Trubiski might sign for--(guessing).
  10. Because all cases are exactly the same, "Whatabout?" is a great argument.
  11. What if Watson paid the women to go to the lawyers to get the Texans to release him. Surprise plot twist. ================================ Jeez. I still reserve judgement.
  12. Hurney paid about $2m per year more than his value in a buyers' market.
  13. FWIW, could today's signings tell us who is on the table in the Houston trade if it goes down? The tea leaves suggest DE
  14. Exactly--man, they have some versatility. If they stay healthy, and you consider that YGM will be much better and Burns enters his prime this season, this group could be really good. Note that we are not targeting guys over 30--they are building
  15. If we have a second rounder, I think so. I mean, we could go G this year and go with a T in round 1 next year--maybe that is what the Scott/Ervin signings were to do-- Personally, I would be OK signing a CB in free agency (a decent one) and calling it a day.
  16. Fox is a 275 lb 3/4 DE, based on his size--It will be interesting to see what they do with him. This is like Christmas. The Draft--what we have left of it if we sign DW, just got offensive.
  17. The Cardinals did not want to lose him---Rhule and Snow must have played a big role. The D just got scary today. About that CB--- This may move Chinn back to S more.
  18. All our pure DTs are NTs--yes, it seems we are
  19. He probably has the ability to anchor the end and play inside-Obada did that--at 275, he is not a pure DT. However, he is versatile, which is the buzz word of the defense.
