  1. Yep. I guess it depends on your existing needs, but ideally, this is spot on. He could be used as a third WR on passing downs and a third CB---which would get him probably around 50-60 snaps per game. However, I think he is a long CB--and to me, a shut down CB is more valuable than a #1 WR--lotta folks might disagree with that, but I do not see him as a #1 WR in the NFL-a stud #2 perhaps--along the lines of a Tee Higgins at best.
  2. Hate them both. SO you all know, my list of teams that I hate in descending order. You are welcome in advance. 1. Dallas Cowboys 2. New England Patriots 3. New Orleans Saints 4. Tampa Bay Bucs 5. Dallas Cowboys again
  3. In my view, and this is not based on any evidence beyond memory, the best backups are those who were drafted, thrown into the fire too early, then discarded as a bust. Some really improve once they have been given a chance to lick their wounds, watch, and work with the QB room for a year or two. I think there is something to the Parcells (I think) formula: "Bill Parcells had a seven-point "formula" or checklist for drafting a quarterback: be a three-year starter, a college senior, a graduate, have a minimum of 30 starts and 23 wins, maintain a 2:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and achieve at least a 60% completion percentage." Having said that, Parcells' comment was long before the new college offenses and portal jumping, but the basic formula frames what it takes. So players like Trey Lance, Anthony Richardson, Zach Wilson, Jameis Winston (to a degree), are TYPES that defend my position. Richardson has not hit rock bottom and rebounded yet, and I am not sure Wilson will ever amount to anything beyond his 2020 BYU season, but this kind of player knows what it is like to be the "the guy" and they know the weaknesses in their game that other teams exploited. Of course there are exceptions etc., but this is simply my preference. Derek Anderson is a good example. In college, he completed 50% of his passes and threw 57 interceptions vs. 79 TDs. As a backup, he was not bad. I think Dalton is a decent backup, fwiw. Anderson actually won 20 games as a pro (vs. 29 losses) and when he started for the Panthers, he was 2-2 (2014 and 2016) and completed 67.5% of his passes.
  4. I was watching the Vikings preseason game vs. (I forget) and there was an undrafted free agent from Minnesota playing--his reads were lightning quick and he was accurate. My interest was in seeing what the Vikings had on their roster who might be able to help us, and I wanted to see (later) if they put this qb on their PS. They did not--they have him as the #3 QB behind Wentz. In my view, he is going to be a very solid NFL qb in time. I wonder if we could have picked him up in the AT trade, which is my point. Max Brosmer. He reads quickly and his footwork is excellent. He does not overreact to pressure. Lot to like about him. I know this is "woulda, shoulda, coulda," but damn, we can't put all our chips on a 5'10" QB who is unproven in his third season as starter. Normally I don't start threads like this, but I think we could have grabbed a player who has all the fundamentals to be a good NFL QB for a long time. Would I cut Dalton? I dunno. Maybe keep 3, but Dalton has not shot at the future here--
  5. I expect Ohio St to start blitzing--Manning is dangerous when he sets his feet.
  6. Manning has a cannon. When he settles down, oh my word.
  7. Come on. Playing time is not shared by the players and players do not determine who stays on the field. Sounds like someone is jelly.
  8. We need fireworks for game 3 or so--when we hit 200.
  9. they could bring him back to the PS---feeling that he needs more time and maybe be available should a WR go down midseason. In other news: (I worked all day, so this could have been discussed.) Have not seen it, but read on FB that cut S Sanders is in "secret talks" with Carolina.
  10. they might have their eye on another qb on another roster--watch the Giants/Browns/etc
  11. Thornton's value is tremendous. If he had not stepped up.... I see him (maybe not right away) as the third CB since Smith Wade is the nickel. I think Bartholomew had a terrible camp--not sure where Evans stands. Re-signing Jackson was huge too.
  12. Hmmm. One of my old friend's son plays OT for them (Brandon Parker, NC A&T) and he may get some time at starter. Great kid--strong parents--His dad (my friend) played at UNC and briefly for the Steelers back in the day.
  13. Yup. No excuses---he probably made a rather tough decision easy.
  14. I watched it--it was stupid, but not that violent. Sanders vs. a big TE is probably a bad business decision on multiple levels. However, he was probably going to be cut anyway.
  15. Our TEs are not causing people to tremble (yep, that just happened) and backs out of the were not impacting game plans. That is two of the checkdowns most teams use a lot-
  16. yes, and teams occasionally cut a player early who has a chance to stick on another team as a courtesy--They should know by now---if they do not, then they might want to rethink their preseason strategy. Of course, now that Practice squads are bigger, maybe they want to interview everyone who they plan to cut to see if they are interested in returning.
  17. Not going to argue with this brand of logic. Read the thread. The counterargument to your in-depth scouting report is embedded.
  18. The thing that some have implied here, one that I did not think about during my initial reaction, is that Bryce is entering his "make or break" season. He has the OL, the running game, and the WRs. No excuses, unless you give him some.
  19. It was right in front of us the whole time!!! Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages Dom /däm/ noun noun: dom; plural noun: doms a person who takes the dominant role in BDSM sexual activities.
  20. I would say that Windmon had a few plays, but I think they were on special teams--but I saw nothing out of Bam Scott -- I liked Rhattigan over him. Rozeboom needs to be a backup. Wallace is no star....
  21. SO if you have never heard of him, how do you know he is mediocre? I pointed out that some players are better fits in certain systems. The implication is that you find the skill sets you seek and build the roster from the bottom up. Did you think we are talking about cut superstars?
  22. SO far, the only cut candidate I MIGHT want to consider is Chad Muma, a former third rounder with the Jags. However, the Panthers are getting some smoke from a few LBs that was unexpected, so I am not sure. Muma is 26 and may just need a different scheme, but I would call him mediocre vs the run and pass, and slightly below mediocre rushing the passer. I still think there is potential there....call me cra
  23. It would be worse not to sign him and then watch him go to a team and hold it down until he is 35. I am guessing Morgan got some positive news about the knee and decided it was worth the risk.
