  1. I think we are going to trade back--there will be QB movement by then. If we trade back, we are going to know one of the players on our board will fall. I think you could see Pickett and maybe another QB like Corral go top 6 or so. Pass rushers will go fast (3). We could (theoretically) have 4 top OL when we pick--and if we are OK with any of the 4, move back if you can.
  2. Bills might go all the way. A hot QB and a solid Defense---I am thinking that has been the recipe for some time.
  3. Moore has been solid, but moving him would increase Anderson's looks and probably cause Shi Smith and Marshall to step up.
  4. Brady is our new Travelle Wharton--play him at LG and let him backup LT. Hopefully, Brown will be ready to play RG. Sign a C in free agency, draft a T (and if you want to trade down, you can--if you miss the T, you still have BC--it allows you to be a bit aggressive in the draft.)
  5. The Giants have the #5 and #7 draft pick. It could happen.
  6. I considered needs, but until free agency rolls around, it is hard to predict. I can say that this helped me understand that the 4 OL we covet in round 1 are not going to be gone by #6-and we can move back some. Basing this on needs as of January 15, I feel confident that we can trade back and get a key OL. 1. JACKSONVILLE: Evan Neal, OT, Alabama—the first piece of the OL reconstruction that replaces Cam Robinson, the LT they are going to lose to free agency. Jacksonville is nearly certain to try to trade this pick, but unless they offer a bargain, nobody is going to pay the price. They need a pass-rushing DE, WR, and DBs as well. 2. DETROIT: Aiden Hutchinson, DE, Michigan—a Michigan Native, Dan Campbell guy, and a huge need. Detroit may be the first team to consider QB, but Goff is a decent placeholder and probably a huge reach here. I think they will take Hutchinson if Jax does not, filling a huge need. 3. HOUSTON: Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh—The Watson trade can help fill many needs—except QB. . Davis Mills was good at times, but probably nothing more than a backup. I have a feeling they will feel the pressure to put the Watson circus and losing behind them, and this is not much of a gamble if you consider how much they are going to get for Watson. Houston will not want to enter 2022 without a starting QB again. 4. NY JETS: Kayvon Thibodeaux, DE, Oregon---The Jets need a dominant pass rusher to help improve a weak secondary. Thibodeaux is simply the best player available and would improve a weak defense from day 1. CB Stingley was on their board until Thibodeaux fell to #4. 5. NY GIANTS: George Karlaftis, DE, Purdue---The Giants see the edge rushers/DE’s being drafted and decide to get in on the action. The Giants have multiple first rounders, and have needs at RT that can be addressed later in round 1. They have not addressed DE in the draft in a decade, so they will now. They could go ILB, RT, or WR with the next pick, but getting an elite pass rusher at #5 is the smart play. 6. CAROLINA: TRADE: CLEVELAND (for #13 and #45): Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State. The Browns need to protect Mayfield for another season and give him a #1 WR. This could be Ekwonu. 7. NY GIANTS: Nakobe Dean, ILB, Georgia—The Giants have to get faster at ILB, and nobody is faster than Dean. I just do not see the Giants going for a RT or a WR here, and I nearly inked in Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State. The Giants will find a RT and WR later, but the speed and pass rush just got scary in NY. 8. ATLANTA: Drake London, WR, USC---The Falcons give Matt Ryan another weapon on offense. While DE/Edge might be the pick here, or even QB, London was the best WR in the nation when he was injured and WR is a need. He is 6’ 5” tall and difficult to cover. 9. DENVER: Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah---Lloyd is a very underrated, all-around LB who will go early to a team with a need. Of course, you have the Broncos who need a QB, but they also have a bunch of draft picks and salary cap room. I see Denver as the eventual landing spot for a Garrappolo or Watson. 10. NY JETS: Derek Stingley, CB, LSU—The Jets seek the best CB in the draft to upgrade their biggest weakness—the secondary. Stingley is a stud and the Jets’ CBs had 2 picks in 2021. Terrible. 11. WASHINGTON: Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame—The “Groundhogs” (Announcing name on Groundhog day—it makes sense) have many needs, but Hamilton is simply a steal here at 11 and S is an area of need. You could see a QB here, a lineman, etc. who knows? 12. MINNESOTA: David Ojabo, DE/Edge, Michigan----The Vikings need some pass rush, and Ojabo has tremendous upside. 13. CAROLINA (From Cleveland): Ikem Ekwonu, T/G, NC State---The Panthers want to establish a run game and they are fortunate to find the best run-blocking T in the draft. He was all conference at both G and T, and would allow BC to follow the path of Travelle Wharton and become a LG, backup LT. Getting Ekwonu and a second rounder is huge.
  7. There is little doubt that the plan is to trade down, but they might also make some trades to acquire some picks. Fitterer (in an interview) said, "There are ways of acquiring second and third round picks while still holding on to the #6 pick" (paraphrasing and not looking up the source-in another thread). I hope that he is not interested in trading future picks, but he may trade some players. However, he will have a desperate man in his ear.
  8. thanks for the summary/analysis Ivan. It sounds like Fit will be in control of the draft---at least he will be driving the bus (Rhule might be to voice coming from the GPS).
  9. It will be interesting to see who they focus on at the SR. Bowl. I would not be surprised to see Rhule fall in love with a QB there.
  10. I think Fits will have more control during this draft. Rhule will be on a short leash (hoping).
  11. Was there a "tell" in this statement? Not about QB, but when he says, "you might be able to find a guy, get lucky, in the second/third round," does that suggest he is hoping to trade back because we are second and third roundless? (The OP suggests this, and it is consistent with my tea leave reading.) ----------next keen insight---------- He says he likes a few QBs, and I think if one is there after we trade back, he could pull the trigger--but I am guessing that we are going to bank on the fact that the OL was the biggest problem--and are willing to give Darnold and a free agent QB a shot behind a strong line. Maybe he does not like the group projected to go in round 1 but is crushing on a player like Strong? Zappe is another day 2 darkhorse. ---------more brilliance from the ole noodle-------- False alarm. I got nothing.
  12. I have not seen the data, but it seems that teams are starting to hire black coaches, but there needs to be attention paid to the back end--how patient are they when there is adversity? I mean you fire a black coach who just finished the season 8-1 because there were communication issues while a coach (Rhule) who finished the season 1-8 remains? (Cookie's point).
  13. Perhaps our best offseason acquisition if you consider value. We need to get all of our players from the Jets. No wait...
  14. I watched these throws--all incomplete--but noticed the quick releases of Willis and Zappe. Zappe hardly steps into the throw and it travels 60 yards--I think he could throw it farther. Intrigued.
  15. The thought of wasting 3 years after losing for 2 years and THEN starting a rebuild is difficult. People are not eager to support losing when the leadership that caused it is profiting
  16. If I am not mistaken, we traded back in the first round with the Jets and took Beason--a good player, but we had Morgan at the time. The Jets took CB Revis. I have heard people criticize that move--passing on a lockdown CB. I think Horn can be that good. Besides, hindsight is not intelligence. Any team has regrets when they look back on the draft. If we'd have drafted Slater and started the season with DJax and Pride--we might be upset that Horn was sitting there at 8.
  17. Don't worry everyone. I sent them my resume and a cover letter expressing interest in the OC position. I figure I will get it due to the process of elimination. I am the guy who invented the double reverse flea-flicker quick kick. Field position, baby.
  18. I never understood Chase as the ST coordinator--yes, he was a ST beast, but so much of this is about kicking, punting, long-snapping, etc.
  19. He is--but not just the media--he said he cant go to Hornet games right now--imagine what it would be like if he tried?
  20. Interesting. There are only 3 college centers worthy of drafting, IMO--and 2 on day 2 or later. I thought it was pathetic that he said he could not go to a Hornets game (due to the booing). Then he tried to downplay the fans' concerns by referring to how he was booed at Baylor for going 1-13 but turned it around. At least he has some idea of where our patience threshold is now-
  21. I just posted about that-where is that coming from?
  22. Rhule said something that stuck in my head a bit--he mentioned that BC can play all 5 positions--but he only played 4 this year, to the best of my knowledge. Then he mentioned the word "Center" a bit later. Did I miss BC playing Center?
