SO if you have never heard of him, how do you know he is mediocre? I pointed out that some players are better fits in certain systems. The implication is that you find the skill sets you seek and build the roster from the bottom up. Did you think we are talking about cut superstars?
-
SO far, the only cut candidate I MIGHT want to consider is Chad Muma, a former third rounder with the Jags. However, the Panthers are getting some smoke from a few LBs that was unexpected, so I am not sure. Muma is 26 and may just need a different scheme, but I would call him mediocre vs the run and pass, and slightly below mediocre rushing the passer. I still think there is potential there....call me cra

It would be worse not to sign him and then watch him go to a team and hold it down until he is 35. I am guessing Morgan got some positive news about the knee and decided it was worth the risk.

that would be a great idea. Expect an injury, and if you don't get one, he can develop. Many OTs struggle as rookies--so 2026 is the year to get his replacement.

PFF grades from last night...Ransom had a night

The thing about Perkins is it reflects tremendously on Morgan's scouting and processes. -

Watch Bailey--he is playing, imo, better than Blackshear -
We should do it--we are loaded at WR. Keeping him on the roster means we cannot add a young guy--let Renfrow be the old veteran-and add some draft capital. We are not winning a super bowl this year, but we are another draft (like this one) away from becoming relevant--when AT would be gone. I worry about Bryce's development too, but maybe have AT gone will HELP his development. XL, TMac, Coker, Renfrow, Horn, Moore, AND Brycen Tremaine is probably better WR depth than we have ever had at the position.

Preseason Week 3 - vs. Pittsburgh (practice tweets, discussion, etc)

$130m--if you put half in a money market account, it would pay you $2.6m per year. -

Yeah that was my first thought. I was waiting for him to mention the others---nope. -

Forget the game, Smitty. Spend 20 minutes talking about your jacket. -

You are contradicting your reason for playing starters/key players. I think they should play, but in my opinion, playing a series or two keeps people from getting loose and into the flow of the game. People may try to do too much--I dunno--but if there is no benefit, as you say, why risk it? -

What have we learned from this preseason? -

He did, but his snaps and first steps look solid. I just do not see how this preseason is telling us anything. Now Princely might be hurt--and what did we learn? -
Not sure Blackshear is making it.

Thanks for this, bro. I like the premise--a few changes I would make are in bold--red are the cuts.

this is the second week Kingston has played C. He is not bad. It sure would be nice to have him, Mays, Christensen, and Zavala as reserves. If I was a team and needed a C or G--I would be calling the Panthers. -

Cam Jackson looked very quick. Dang. I still love this draft we just had. -
Legette still focusing on drops per David Newton
MHS831 replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not just a drop--but his drops were game enders, it seemed. Maybe only 1 or 2, but that makes it tough. I really pull for XL, but did not like the pick. I wanted Ladd, but we needed a potential #1 to groom. Ladd was second fiddle to a TE, but I liked his ability to play 10-12 years at a high level. -

Its like a hitter in baseball in a slump. You need positive thoughts, not demons in your head. He will be OK...but I worry about the first drop and his ability to overcome them. -
REPORT: Panthers interested in Patriots starting safety
MHS831 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lenoir Rhyne's greatest--was with Jeremy Chinn in draft value--I am not sure how his $58m contract will be absorbed. Is he better than Ransom? Prolly not. He is 29 and is overpaid. They would love us to take him off their hands. -
That is what makes it hard to evaluate him-and that is why this season, there are no excuses. Not only did he lose Burns, Chinn (some blame him for that), Brown, Luvu, etc., they did not draft for D (Wallace? A third rounder?) Tough sledding. My point was this--is he a one-trick pony or did he do anything to adjust--try a new look, etc. In this league, if you are young and successful, they will figure you out--but yeah--we had a bad roster.

all we really know is that our depth has issues. However, there have been too many dropped passes (TMac already has 2 or 3, sanders? Don't let that ball hit you in the hands--Moore's fumble) and I thought our OL depth was better. DL is not as stout as we hoped (based on a few plays) and LB is scary. Some are worried about CB--bartholomew has been terrible, but Thornton and Evans are pretty solid, from what we have seen. Horn, Jackson, Thornton, Smith Wade, Evans-- I am not as excited about Ransom as I was, and that is not fair for a fourth rounder. He will be fine later, I hope. The running game should be ahead of the passing game, and i have not seen it yet. I really liked what i saw from Brycen Tremayne both as WR and on special teams--watch him--long shot, but mid season, he could be a PS pull up. Smart guy too. Interestingly, Kingston played center Saturday and did fairly well. Stay tuned. Finally, and this is the last I will say about it--we need a better color guy for preseason games--I liked Rucker back in the day, and Delhomme is fine. But Smitty sucks. Oh, and it looks as though we have our kicker, via UDFA. I think that battle is over.
