The Fvcked up situation was with Rivera, who used him like a QB/FB
-
Here is the rub with Mayfield--if you trade a pick for him, he is likely gone in a year. If you keep him, he will demand $30-40 million and you have a QB that lacks the ability to make you great. So you prolong the inevitable. Meanwhile, your development of Corral goes to the back burner. To me, unless you trade Darnold for Mayfield in an even swap, there is little upside to bringing in Mayfield. And that is without getting into his locker room toxicity.

We get to hear Smitty in the booth for preseason games again

Personally, I am not a fan of the person--just the player. However, he brings some degree of honesty to it. -
Panthers have second most cap space in the NFL
MHS831 replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well said. -
He played for 28% of the teams in the NFL.

Not moving him from TE to FB--just using him there on occasion. We did not use a FB much in 2021. you could actually motion him out to the flank and he would be a TE again. But there are many ways to look at the FB TE situation.
-
If we could use Tremble as a FB and TE, we could free up 2 roster spots.

You are drafting the player, not the school. Bama OL, when compared to their productivity, tend to underpeform their draft spots--they are inflated. But to say Neal was way better---not according to the film I watched. Ickey will not be great during the first part of the season in pass protection, but he should develop because he has the tools. I'd take Ickey over Neal all day long in run blocking, and we want to run the ball more. We drafted an RPO QB as well, so he is perfect for where we are heading.

Realistic Expectations for 4th-7th Rounders
MHS831 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Basically, the players with high football IQ tend to do better, even if they are 2 tenths slower, 20 pounds lighter, etc. Give me smart players all day long. -
Yes. This was my pick. I hope Corral, but I thought Smith could be dangerous. Considering how we had only 1 day 1 or 2 pick, we did ok in this draft.

So if you had Russell Wilson in round 1 and he goes round 3, were you wrong? In other words, until year 3 or so, nobody knows-even those of you with brains.

Who would play Matt Rhule in a horrible documentary no one would watch?

You have to look at contracts- Bozeman will want to get paid in 2023. BC would give them an option. Remember, we will not be in a great cap situation come 2023 and Spiderman will want a few coins. Oh, and smart Centers are more valuable than Left Guards.

Robby or Robbie Anderson no show OTA’s
MHS831 replied to slumdogmillionaire's topic in Carolina Panthers
but we need his tweets--it is a double-edged sword. -
I can say this--we were lucky to get Corral in the third round. I think he is under-rated. Play him when he is ready and never look back--

"Best bets" article puts Panthers under 5.5 wins
MHS831 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
We have a streak going of 5 wins per season and Darnold is still the QB and Rhule is the coach. Nothing to see here. -
Does the USFL have stadiums?

4 Corners would not have caught 9 bass. He would have caught 9 basses.

Message to team: Panther front office leaders are dumbasses.

College football might be about to get real interesting

If this doesn’t get you excited about Matt Corral, nothing will
MHS831 replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Because a rush linebacker and a QB is pretty much the same thing. -

Thank you--the skills are there, the leadership is there---all he needs is some protection and a running game, and this guy will turn heads. -
I still say he should not play much in 2022. But I think he has just as much upside as any QB in this draft--I would rather have Corral over GI Joe Hands Pickett.

when was the last time we did not play Pittsburgh in the preseason?
