  1. About starting the people now that you probably will not start later: you want competition. If you give a spot to a person who has not yet earned it (or taken it), it creates a sense of entitlement and it demoralizes the former starting player that will become depth. If everyone feels the atmosphere is competitive and that all are preparing for a starting role (injuries), I would assume it is a better approach.
  2. This is more important than you realize. A QB with grit and swag-a fiery competitor-has the power to ignite the offense when things get down. Sam is so passive and his demeanor did not change when things went south--not sure it did not have a negative impact.
  3. Of course, Jordan is our starting LG and Elf is our starting C---as of July 28 or so. I think they are respecting the existing starters so that they give the appearance of competition. I suppose that it is demoralizing to be a starter and have some free agent from another team come in and take your job without giving you the chance to fight to keep it. Kind of a "king of the hill" thing-- By the first preseason game, our OL and QB should be set.
  4. By the way, my teenage nieces from ohio showed up wearing some. They said they are cool (again?) and all the kids in school are wearing them--they had white ones, fwiw. That is all I know about crocs--except once I asked a neighbor to move his car/trailer out of the road because he was blocking traffic. I was very nice--he got mad and stormed into the street to confront me. I thought, "I can't believe I am about to be in a street fight wearing crocs and footies." He backed down, but I will never understand why. They were black and my footies were white--maybe I exuded Killer Whale.
  5. If those were tube sox, you'd be super groovin'
  6. I thought so too, but when he announced that he was looking to add another CB, it made me wonder
  7. Three weeks until the kids go back to school.
  8. You have. Why not stop trying to flaunt your Piagetian concrete operational skills and so that those with actual camp news can post?
  9. We have limited access to the players' development. Being first on the field is a symptom of an eager, competitive person who is ready to go. For example, sitting on the front row in school does not mean you are getting an A, but more kids from the front row make As compared to those who sit in the back. You do not give As to the kids based on where they sit, but it is a fair indicator of their work ethic.
  10. Seriously--he has to know he is not going anywhere as an NFL QB--just invest the money and live a happy life knowing that you had all the tools and opportunity and you failed.
  11. Who needs CBs? Snow is going to a 4/6/1 defense, I heard.
  12. I kinda wish Darnold would be fired up and ready to compete to save his career. Too much Surf Nazi in him. I would be pissed, insulted, and determined to send Baker to the pine--- I dunno. At this point, he had few options--that is what 4 years of suckage does to a person.
  13. He put 300 on on us one year. Hellacious defense
  14. They will be shopping Darnold for a future conditional seventh rounder and they will eat most of his salary if MC9 shows enough to be QB2. That is the only scenario I see for Walker to make the team--and I am ready to move on from him, frankly.
  15. Wow. Not good. My uncle lost more than that in one day. Had his leg amputated.
  16. He had to get right for speedo season
  17. Now we know that herbert would have been worth moving up for---Fields in 2021 over Horn?
  18. And there are many defensive lineman that take a few years to mature and develop. I see Brown in that mold. I still wonder how, in this era of the QB, we had top 10 draft picks and ended up taking a DT and a CB when the QBs were pretty good--only to take a QB during a draft when they were not that good--at the end of round 3 no less.
  19. last season, they thought the addressed the OL on day 1 of free agency (we hated the OL acquisitions then, and rightly so) and they really thought the QB position had been addressed or we'd have Fields right now. I think they are taking a wiser, more practical approach to this season, fwiw.
