Not sure the Jags system did much to facilitate this. Deebo Samuel was not a Deebo-type player until the Niners found a way to use him. A Deebo-type player is a hybrid, larger player who can go from back to receiver and create mismatches. That was my point. Did not say he was going to be as good as Deebo, for the record

600 yards is no scrub. It is probably about average. But this guy (and I have not read the thread because the Blinkards tend to take over at times) could become a Debo Samuel type player for us.

Yeah, you have to look at the skill set more than the productivity in Jax---it is not how he played, it is about how we play him.

I usually agree with you, and this is no exception, except I think they like Jordan more than you do--however, I may think that because they were playing BC at LT at the time and Jordan stepped in at that time. I do not like Thompson, but Sullivan is the first player Fittmagic brought in--so its a neck and neck race to see if Rhule's favoritism is stronger than Fitt's eye for talent.

And that gives him 2 weeks to get used to his holder, timing with snap, etc. I noticed 2 things about Zane in preseason. 1. He seemed to be on the left upright a lot, as if he was pulling the ball. Was his brain subconsciously trying to protect the injury when it was hardly noticeable? 2. The injury followed a rain delay. Was he loosened up properly? I am on a mission to find out the truth. I need answers! I can handle the truth!

To break down film, you have to consider several variables, and many of them are related to the responsibilities of the OL. For example, on a screen, does the OL make contact and release properly so the QB does not get hit? If so, what if he misses his block on the CB? If he pulls and his C gets bull rushed into the backfield a little bit, causing the OL to arc his line, do you downgrade him for not reaching his block? I just do not think these guys know enough to offer grades. What if a lineman down blocks on a double team and clears out the DT in textbook fashion---but he was supposed to block backside LB. Will the PFF know that he missed his assignment? A WR may simply be running off a DB, so he allows himself to be blanketed. Is that a downgrade? Too much gray area.

I think with the Corral let down, reality is reforming. I think he can be our starting QB if we surround him with talent. We went to a super bowl with Jake Delhomme, after all, and he rose to the occasion,

Burris, Deonte Brown might struggle to get a spot. I was a bit disappointed by Cade Mays, but--very much like BC--they are playing him at one position one week, another the following week. That has to be confusing. I am of the mindset that you develop a player at one position and then you expose him to another. But I am no Matt Rhule. It does seem as though the OL depth is becoming clear---Mays, Jordan, Elf (he is not starting over Bozeman) and maybe Erving---but I am not sure I would keep Erving. He reminds me of the Marty Hurney method of self promotion---overpay an average player in hopes that plays up to the contract.

I think you have to grab a K and a QB--K for now, QB because we should be constantly looking for a backup QB. Let's face it, injured Sam, inconsistent Walker, and uninspiring Corral (going to IR) is not solid depth for now, worse next year when Walker and Darnold are gone. I think we have DE depth that is equivalent to the quality we'd get from cuts.

Yes to both questions I despise Chub. I have stated here before, last year, he led the league in rushing attempts that netted zero yards or negative yards. 25% Albeit behind a terrible OL, at least get a foot or two. It is that dancing stuff. Sure, that may have worked in the Big 12 or whatever, but not in the NFL. If we cut him, he would not be picked up. And he is one of those "cutsie" draft picks that Rhule bragged about--"My wife liked him so we took him. Couldn't believe he was still there!" Whatever.

The kicker injury could be related to the rain delay---if he was loose then tightened up, then did not stretch out correctly---just speculation

he gets into the backfield and he is sideline to sideline with the speed of a Luke K. Not sure about coverage, but he has the skills to run with a TE or RB.

I hate watching preseason games when they go to 4 minute interviews on the sideline about BS that is not interesting at all. However, when they were interviewing Burns, he mentioned the game McCall was having. I was going to start a thread on this guy because I watched him quite a bit when he was in the game. He was not getting pushed around Like Roy or Hoskins. They just could not block him. I want him in the rotation--screw the PS--based on what I saw last night, anyway.
