Not only on the scoreboard, but in his pants. That's right, I said it (excuse this if it is repetitive): I guess that explains the skid mark. I mean, who amongst us has not iced the cake after getting the batter whipped up like this?

Mike Kaye, Observer comment on Wilks support
MHS831 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Because it makes sense to hire from within a dysfunctional organization--but since we are humping the first ass we sniff, lets go through the motions of pretending to look at others. The odds that the best fit is already a Panther are slim. Dumbassery- 124 replies

So many QBs have close relationships with TEs--there is a reason they feel this bond. Cam and Greg, Peyton and Dallas, Pat and Travis, Tom and Rob.... We have Sam and Ian. WTF?

I think Wilks has been told he has the job. (Speculation)

Thanks for sharing--I enjoy hearing the perspectives of others so much more than bitching and finger pointing--I think you could be right. He will need a really good OC if this is true. The third and eight QB draw was my last straw with McAdook. Wilkes is a good guy--he commands respect and the players seem to respond to him. If that does not equal wins yet, then I get it. -
Lmao.... Panthers still control their own destiny....

To put this in perspective, we are 1 game back from landing the #3 overall draft pick if all the 4-win teams below us (we are currently at #8) win one of their last 3 games. -
I like Wilkes and his ability to communicate with the players--based on what I have seen. Today, regardless of what the scoreboard was saying, Pittsburgh was undisciplined and we did not really take the bait. I have a ton of respect for Tomlin, but like any coach we tend to call "great," you have to watch him without a franchise QB. He got in a face or two today, which is admirable, but our guys stayed, for the most part, composed. Does that mean Wilkes should be the next coach? Nope. I want to see how we finish. I am not impressed with some of the defensive mechanics I saw today--bad angles, poor tackling--CB giving too much cushion vs. a #2 wr--no apparent understanding of the situation (Taylor) Archeletta made a few good points--LBs were hesitating (when was the last time you saw Shaq in the hole making tackles? he gets his stats 4 yards past the LOS) Chinn was bad in contain. I am also disappointed in our fans--we wont even go to a home game when we have tickets when our team was in the playoff hunt--Pittsburgh fans travel and buy up tickets when their team has the same record--and less of a chance to make the playoffs.

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft
MHS831 replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I really do not think he is going to be developed in time for our needs. I see him as more Geno Smith or Tre Lance than Fields. He has some fundamental issues that are worrysome--I think anybody wanting him is still suffering from a Cam hangover. Just my opinion. -
Do peacocks fly though? So I asked the internet on my Goggle machine: "Peacocks can (sort of) fly – they tend to run and take several small leaps before a big final hop. They can't stay airborne for very long, but their huge wingspan allows them to flutter quite far." Did you know a female Peacock is a pheasant? I did not.

Weather in a night game in Buffalo in mid December is probably something Smitty should have been aware of, but "bless his heart." And I am pretty sure that she was not talking to Smitty, but his response was funny. Kind of a "Cousin Eddie" move.

When they say, "half time adjustments" the Colts need to know that it does not mean neutering.

31 years old, I think. There were some comments before the game about how they restricted the play book for Ryan--how'd that work out?
-
Ryan was throwing the same routes all game--they started jumping them, and he had no answers.

Saturday should just stay in Minnesota. I am not sure he'd be safe back in Indy. He could work on his resume.

Hey guys, maybe there are some good college coaches available.

TEs are cheaper free agents, so if you are developing a young QB, a vet TE makes sense.

Brock Purdy and why we don't need to draft a 1st round QB
MHS831 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
The two teams playing last night are great examples of what a mediocre QB can do on a team with a strong running game, good OL, and good defense. Wilson had these things in Seattle--moves to Denver, "Let's ride!" referring to the rail out of town. Geno Smith comes in and succeeds. Comeback player of the year. In SF, Garrapolo is a good QB. Good OL, defense, Running game. He gets hurt, Purty is a good to decent QB. -
You are not wrong. I am basing my opinion on the fact that we will have an early second rounder and the draft is pretty deep at TE. We agree that TE is a huge need, but if we pick 40th for example, we could get an effective TE. In the past few years, Pat Freiermuth went 55th overall (2nd round), Greg Dulitch (Broncos Rookie) went 80th overall--both are good offensive threats. If we could only save our first rounder for a QB of the future---it would be a win win.
-
I think we can get a good TE in this year's second round--so you could still grab a QB, free agent, Corral, and have a team ready to compete.
-
Oh, I agree. If the stars align, you definitely do that--and sign Minshew (or another low salary). If you sign a free agent for $15m and a rookie for $6m, you still have four years before you have to make that commitment.
-
Give me Kincade with one of our second rounders.
-
The price of mediocrity, I suppose. Now that QBs cost 25% of the cap, it is tough to decide when to take that leap, but I agree.
