  1. Of course, Frank, you could argue that a 6' 5", 250 lb Panther QB had a shortened career because of his size--he took on everyone. I dunno. I am trying to get my head right should Bryce get called out in KC first.
  2. I am starting to doubt that Stroud is the pick (that it has been decided)--but I am confident that it is down to Stroud and Young. I could support either, but I do not want to miss out on the opportunity.
  3. The window will be open starting next year (IMO) and will stay open depending on the QB development. Best case scenario? We win the South (possible) this year. New Orleans may have the best QB in 2023, but the rest of their roster is over the hill, imo. Atlanta is the team that might surprise, but with Heinicke and Ridder? Tampa Bay is now hungover from blowing their entire paycheck on the 2021 party. We need a few WRs and for a few WRs to step up--I expect them too. I think we will compete for the NFC S title in 2023, start a dynasty (QB pending) in 2024. I think people make mistakes when they confuse outcomes with goals. Goals should be to improve at every position, to improve fundamentals, and to control what you can control. Outcomes are the side effects for reaching your goals. The Super Bowl is a side effect, not a goal.
  4. I like Young, but dang--imagine Donte Jackson at QB--same size. Same durability?
  5. Tepper should love running the franchise, not evaluating talent--(see Jones, Jerry).
  6. Damn. I wish I could get an idea that has occurred to many others and start a thread about it. Hypothicals make the bestest threads. And we should wear all black helmets. And Rhule was bad.
  7. Hurst is an all around TE, a good blocker in run and pass protection. Always going to be around the 350-500 yards per season. Personally, I am not that impressed with him. Not worth $9m per, in my opinion.
  8. He is a So Carolina boy, so it is possible. In the event it is true, I got this from an article about an estimate that it would take the Bengals to keep him. On Brad Spielberger's list of the top 100 free agents this season, Hurst came in at No. 74 and is projected to earn a three-year deal worth $28.5 million with an annual salary of $9.5 million. He made about $3.5 last year.
  9. It might have been 2-14. I was going from memory. Don't have time to get sidetracked by something that doesnt matter- I did mention DWill's contract renewal, so you can do the math. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/781944
  10. And there was the time we had about $70m and he overpaid players on the current roster that went 4-12 the previous year--I think it was DWill's second contract, Charles Johnson, etc. I want to say it was just before we drafted Cam.
  11. Ricky Prohel played here from age 35-38. Jerricho Cothery was 32 and 33 when he played here.
  12. Shi Smith replacement--our Ricky Prohel or Jerricho Cotchery. A young QB needs these checkdown possession WRs. I am guessing that is how they use him. Now they could find a WR who can take it deep....(Chark?) Not sure how much $ we have. We shall see--a TE in the draft could be the plan (3rd rd).
  13. Many other sites say 2 years. $10 m makes no sense. Darnold signed for just under $5m
  14. Ian on NFL network just announced that Dalton signed a 1 year, $10m contract....What? That was a mistake? They had a graphic and everything.
  15. Something is going on with the TEs and WRs---2 top WRs have signed for about $11m per, and neither is a #1. Tomorrow will be big-- I can't get Landry out of my mind. He was injured a lot last year, and his 2021 year in Cleveland was marred by injuries. So is he injury prone, or just ran into some bad luck? This guy has been a five time pro bowler and had about 5 seasons with over 800 yards... He would be cheap. I also want the Panthers to look at JuJu before he returns to KC
  16. Since shaking off the fact that was not Dalton Schultz-this pick has warmed on me--in fact, based on the stats, if we signed him last year, he would have been our best QB.
  17. You could argue that he played behind Winston and Prescott (pocket passers) and he was the bridge when they drafted Fields in Chicago--he was not really a backup there, but an unseated veteran. So I agree--this suggests what kind of QB we are getting--fwiw, Dalton is 6-2.
  18. Andy Dalton and Bryce Young go way back. Found this photo:
  19. Folks Dalton is a damn good backup QB--he has been starting in this league for a while. No issues with this.
  20. Me too--That's Scot for you-- A big tease.
  21. Well, I don't think we are on a first name basis with him, but I was not thinking QB....
