  1. About the 4 year contract: RBs are not getting second contracts that easily. Instead of top $$, we can give longer security. Miles will be 26 in May, and we can get out of this in 2025 if we want.
  2. SOUNDS like a nickname given when he was a baby
  3. Have we ever had a free agency period during which we found 5 starters (TE, RB, C, S, DL) and perhaps the best backup QB in the league? I still expect a WR.
  4. Gotta remember that Philly had a Great OL, but: Ran for 1200 yards Has ability to catch out of backfield 25 years old 5'11" 210
  5. Would I want a QB who, just about a month ago, claimed he was 90% retired and crawled into a hippy cave of blackness for several days to contemplate how he is the greatest Green Bay Packer ever? Hard pass.
  6. He is telling us who he is---we just need to listen.
  7. And I would not trade for a headache or problem when I can sign a free agent and get a headache or a problem for free.
  8. I think they need a vet and a rookie. Their lack of urgency suggests that is their plan--or they are waiting for a contract to drop---are they negotiating with Odell?
  9. I still would not be surprised to see us sign Odell--we are almost at the point where we have little choice--just restructured Hekker--so are we looking for loose change in the sofa cushions? Hmmmm. I am not sure how I feel about it-like saying "Beetlejuice" 3 times.
  10. Yes--if you are going after bargains, there has to be more risk. That is how you get a good deal--invest in the player, he gets healthy, and you have a quality player.
  11. Usually when a player tries to tell you who they are at this time of their career, you should listen.
  12. If Spotrac is correct and I am reading it correctly, we have about $18m of cap room left ($10-12 for rookies) BEFORE paying Hurst--(so estimate about $15-14m, leaving about $3m.) The Shaq Thompson restructure does not seem to be on the books yet--so maybe add $10m? Maybe someone who knows this stuff can figure it out. Rounded 2023 cap figures: Bell $3m Tuttle $3m Bozeman $3m Dalton $2m Hurst $??? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/cap/
  13. On page 3 or 4 of this thread, I wrote "I am guessing $22m/3 years." I was wrong. Seriously--he was given an annual value of $6.8m on Spotrac and I read somewhere else that his value was around $9m per. It seems a bit steep, but I am not sure they had a lot of interest in many other free agent TEs...Dunno Manhertz got $3m per. TE is a position people are valuing more now.
  14. And of course, the NFL Network thinks this is ALL they need to talk about today- Yesterday and Monday they kept getting Updates from Dallas--when the lady said, "I will repeat: the Cowboy strategy is to build through the draft--not big players in free agency." Yet they dropped in on the Cowboy reporter every hour. Unreal.
  15. Now, after saying all that, I would like for some photographic proof that your WIFE is going with you to KC to watch the draft. That would never happen in the MHS household. Just need a pic of you with the first overall pick--no photoshopping.
  16. Take the information or not, folks. It is not Casillias' job to verify his information for you--he is not trying to troll or mislead you--not his style---take the info or leave it, but badgering him like some $20 attorney is not cool.
  17. Offensive Priorities in order QB (Draft) WR (2--free agent, draft) RB (free agent) T (depth) TE (depth, pass catching) It is hard for me to tell with the defense. YGM is probably a pass-rushing DE or a run-stuffing Edge. Chinn is probably going to play nickel and the in-the-box S when they run the 3 S looks--so may players are hybrids, it is hard to gauge it in a depth chart format.
  18. Whoever it is we pick, they will be coached up. I think it is Stroud 50% Young 30% Levis 10%, and AR 10%. But criticizing (implied) Stroud because his WRs were open when he hits them in the #s is silly. That could be because the DBs can't predict what Stroud is going to do or that he was not telegraphing. Who knows.
  19. His injury history and production (based partly on the QB situation in Indy--Rivers, Wentz, Ryan, etc.) are reasons that we could get a solid WR at a discount rate. We have many holes to fill. Funny how the focus was first defense, then offense.
