  1. He is the better football player because he is smart and makes the most of what God has given him. That is the kind of person you want leading your team. Again, you have to then ask, but is Stroud NOT that kind of player? If it were my decision, I think size is not as important at QB as intelligence and leadership. If Stroud is Young's near equal, you might go with Stroud--but I have a feeling that Young is "off the charts." That is the guy you draft because if you don't, he beats your butt for the next 10-15 years.
  2. CB is a bigger need than we seem to realize--even if Action Jaxon were healthy, which he is not. I was hoping for a free agent--but crickets.
  3. He is a sleeper with tons of upside Good call
  4. Don't underestimate the value of a Nick Saban reference. NFL coaches have relationships with Saban like no other college coach.
  5. With Bryce Young we seem to have a super QB prospect that checks all the boxes except size--gonna be hard to pass on him. I think he is a great person, someone who everyone likes--can rally around. I dunno, folks, but Stroud has the OSU curse--I am so confused--but I can assure you--Young isn't. I will be happy with either, but I am starting to see more comparisons with the greats--
  6. Another situation where you take Stroud if he is nearly equal. I firmly believe in intelligence at the QB position. A smart QB not only makes good on-field decisions, but they allow the coaches to open up the playbook earlier and more often. Arm strength? Great. 40 time? Awesome. But what the great QBs have is something that is immeasurable--which is why it is so difficult to find one. Perhaps until now--Burrow, Mahomes, Brees, Allen, and even Mr. Irrelevant? That is pretty strong evidence that this test measures the right stuff.
  7. All we have is tea leave reading. If this is leaked, it is leaked intentionally. It is almost like, "Hey everyone, I have a secret, but I really trust this particular member of the press with this information." The Press: "Sure!"
  8. I looked at the free agent DT market, and there is not much available at NT. I think they are going to have to go with McCall and Roy--and you bring up a good point. NT is not the same as a 3t.
  9. I see your point. But if we have a draft deep at Edge and TE (I would argue this: CB is fairly deep as well, and one is likely to drop) I would hate to sign a veteran on a big contract--we are going to have to make a few more moves, however, and this may play out as you describe.
  10. Maybe not until after the draft---saving cap $ for something.
  11. Of course it changes on draft day and all the boards and mocks fall apart after the first 20 picks or so, but I think the BPA is likely to be an Edge-I think there are 14 (about 10 of which would be good fits for the Panthers, imo) edge rushers in this draft that are good enough to start early. However, someone will fall--and that is what makes picking early in round 2 interesting
  12. You and I are definitely in love with the same gems later--I (personally) would add Tyler Scott, WR Cincinnati to your WRs at the end of round 3/early 4. Vorhees will be recovering from surgery, but when he gets healthy, he can beast and play multiple positions. Perfect developmental OL/depth for now. Schoonmaker is the TE nobody is talking about but he is solid.
  13. And Jake Delhomme--what's up with that?!!
  14. Funny how we all have so many variations of opinions--probably because we have not seen the new system and how players will be used. But this is so wrong. It is just wrong. It is very incorrect. (Kidding--who the hell knows?) I see your point--I would love to see us grab a TE and OLB/Edge just because the draft is so deep there. I think we need a CB and possibly an ILB. Have no idea exactly what Luvu, Chinn, and YGM are going to look like. I think they should sign a free agent or two to help us prepare our mocks. Very rude of them.
  15. I know--and we have a few bucks to spend--I would love to see us take away a need or two before the draft. CB (Shaq Griffin to play nickel, backup CB) would be great, and I think we can find a solid WR like Jarvis Landry.
  16. That is another position that is a bit unclear right now. We have McCall (56.8) who was decent in limited duty last year and Roy (54.0), who was slightly below average, according to PFF, my only measure of their performance. Both weigh over 330 lbs. Then we sign Tuttle, and everyone says he will play nose between Brown and Williams. I do not see that. I see YGM (pass rushing specialist on the inside?) and Williams in a rotation with Tuttle and Brown. If so, are they going with McCall and Roy at NT? I would hope not.
  17. I read an article or comment about Boutte that turned me against him--they accused him of "lazy" route running and inconsistent hands. For what it is worth to anyone, I took him off my board for that reason, because when I see his name, that is what pops into my brain.
  18. I like some of the day 3 WRs as much as day 2, based on our needs. I think we find one at some point, but not sure he helps much this year--but then again, we really need one in the event of injury--this year--but the need is there for 2024. Like the way you said this.
  19. No, I didn't read it--I would never have expected anyone associated with the Lions to be making fun of anyone or anything.
  20. It would have to be virtual unless we could all get work release.
  21. Out of curiosity, why did this bother you?
  22. Will McDonald IV from Iowa St should be on this list as well. That makes at least 13 Edge rushers should go in the top 63 picks. That is hard to imagine. That would mean an edge rusher would be picked every 4.8 selections.
  23. Campbell is my hope as well if they go that route. I am also hoping Smith steps up--I think this staff will do him right.
  24. you can't argue with 7 sacks--he has a nose for the QB.
  25. You know, if they decide BPA during the draft, they could take the Edge and play Luvu at ILB--but they are going to move people around, change things up- so I think they will like the hybrid players. If I were picking in this draft in round 2, I would want an edge because they, imo, are the deepest group--as deep as TE.
