  1. Some players take time--most WRs take more than a year. If you think coaching changes, OCs, QBs, have no impact on a player's development it tells me you never played the game or attempted to understand what it is like to learn and develop on a high level. If you are looking for instant gratification, gets some Jergens and paper towels and find yourself a dark corner. If not, thank the manager at McDonalds for the free wi-fi and keep pounding on your second-hand laptop like some NFL expert.
  2. Getting ready to ask, "Why do we have 2 threads on 2017 panther guards?"
  3. We did not re-sign him. I guess you are arguing that Peppers chose to leave--but that is one way of looking at it--as an organization, letting him go without compensation or resigning him is letting him walk.
  4. Cam is hard to measure--We had a good defense for the most part, and he rarely had 4 strong quarters in a game--but we were hanging around when he went into beast mode. Never had back-to-back winning seasons, career passing percentage under 60%, but man, he could make things happen when it mattered. Rivera was named coach of the year twice because of Cam, so I dunno. I just do not see a yellow jacket for Cam--but I could be wrong.
  5. Getting rid of Burns would be like letting Julius Peppers walk. No franchise would be that dumb... Most of Carolina's elite edge rushers (Johnson, Rucker, Hardy) aside from Peppers did very little until year 3. Burns is 25 and we are about to see 4-5 elite years of a premier edge rusher entering his prime. A top edge makes your DBs better and allows for average edge rushers to benefit from a lack of attention.
  6. Do your homework (This surprised me): https://www.forbes.com/sites/leighsteinberg/2015/02/09/5-reasons-why-80-of-retired-nfl-players-go-broke/?sh=27ce623778cc
  7. Fox was bitter. I heard him in Spartanburg make a negative comment about AEdwards to another coach (right in front of a group of people watching the practice) after watching him drop a punt from the jugs machine. He said something like, "At least we got a punt returner out of the draft" (sarcastically). He was not really engaging with the players--just watching and shaking his head.
  8. I do not think the Panther placement is homerism--I think the others are downgrading the Panthers based on their recent rep. The Panthers, as stated, are only a QB away, and this team won 7 games without a good QB. We have a lot of questions, but all teams do. I think the Panthers will win 10.
  9. You said nothing about bulls. I see your dark magic with words.
  10. I talked to Armani at an OTA during his second season. First, you have to remember that he was with the Jimmy Clausen draft--when Fox was a lame duck and Marty drafted players he liked. Marty got abused in that draft--trading up for Armani based on misinformation provided by the Colts. That added pressure. Then he gets a new staff the following year. Edwards told me that it was weird learning a new position this late. I joked that it was like being a pitcher all your life and they move you to catcher in the big leagues. He laughed and sorta agreed. I had the same experience in college--when they recruit you to be a TE but, after a few August injuries, they moved me to OLB (played both in HS, but was not the same player on D). So I get it. Edwards was nice, humble, and obviously frustrated.
  11. This is why I say that Barno and Johnson might really excel in this defense--I realize he was talking about the back end, but do not underestimate what the OLBs could bring, especially if Burns is attracting attention on the other side.
  12. We should write about CMC....or maybe we should focus on our own roster.
  13. Working the bottom of the roster---nothing to see here.
  14. My first thought? "Please say 'David Newton', please say 'David Newton'..."
  15. Our OFFENSE was crippling in 2021, 2022. We won 7 games last season without a QB. I think the OL is much improved in 2023. Center: We are better because Bozeman is now the starter for the entire season and we have 2-3 solid hybrid G/C backups (Mays, McRay) Guard: Corbett and Christensen--our backups are better than our starters were in 2021. Mays, Zavala, McCray, Jensen---forget Jordan and Brown---awesome strength at G. Do not be surprised, at some point, BC does not become the swing T. Tackle: Moton, Ekwonu, and Erving. With BC's ability at T and insane depth at G, we have a solid T group. When Zavala is ready for LG, BC might become a T again. Mays might be ready for RG now, but Corbett was just extended. Mays could be the swing G/C. Now take a look at Wide Receiver: You have to expect Marshall to continue the growth he flashed last season. Shenault was not used correctly--I am sure we are going to see him in the game plan more like Debo. New toys? Chark and Theilen will be pros and that will mean a lot to a young QB, but Mingo could make this group special. Folks, we have never had 5 studs at WR--potential studs--but with a TE threat, we are now better. Running Back: Sanders, Blacksheer, Hubbard, Brown--I think we stepped back in this area from CMC (but not after he was traded), but with a new QB and better OL than even last year, this RB group could be average to above average. Quarterback: To me, our backup in 2023 is better than what we had starting in 2022. So this offense has the chance to be special. If Bryce plays well, this team wins the South and makes some noise in the playoffs--
  16. I have always found preseason predictions geared toward the larger market teams--why? More clicks and shares. This is just silly.
  17. Since the blue is the biggest change (but I like the thinner stripes that do not go under the armpit) they were right to model the blue jersey. I am not sure the blue change would be noticed on the white or black jerseys. We shall see. I was hoping for a black, blue and silver plaid jersey with tie-dyed pants and the old 1970s three stripe tube socks. That would be sweeeeeet.
  18. Until you get a QB, all you have at WR is potential. However, since potential suggests possible performance in the future, you can't rate them in the bottom five with no data, research, or justification.
  19. TMJ started coming on once The Chosen Robbie/Robby was sent packing. I mean, the Rhule offense with these QBs was not the place to develop. His stats from late last year are encouraging. From 1-6, this is the best we have been at WR since 1995. We have had 2-3 studs, but this roster has the potential to be really good-- Chark, Thielen--I give them a C as a pair. If they stay healthy--maybe a B- to a B. We do not have the superstar (Smith, for example), but I do not think we lost a superstar (Hard to say how good Moore can be with the QB circus here, but we will not feel his loss as much as one might expect.) Mingo, TMJ--I give them a potential A- as a 3/4 WR combo. I see two stepping up as bigger, physical WRs. Shenault--this could be the difference maker. a "swiss army" Debo? If he does what I think he can do, he could be one of the great NFL stories in 2023. Just watch what we do with him-- And whoever sticks at #6 will be better than what we have had in the past.
  20. No longer an issue--Jets got him--I think. Saw it on facebook, where they gave a second, third, and fourth rounder--can't find it anywhere else (just started looking)
  21. for those of you who think that he is injury prone, I will say that our 5'10", 200 lb starting QB who was drafted first overall will have a longer career than our 6'5" 250 lb. starting QB who was drafted first overall. Sure, some will call me a jinx and others will simply marvel at my ability to see the future--but i have spoken.
  22. He should be a good depth player as a rookie. Norman was in the dog house his first 2 seasons--if my memory serves me correctly--maybe Henderson or Taylor will step up. Eric Rowe can play CB as well.
