I don't like the silver helmets with the all whites--and when NE switched to silver helmets with the same basic design shape in 1993, I decided that we should have done something different. Of course, I was in shock at the time, as the Panthers released (before the 1995 season) the ugliest uniform I had ever seen: I thought, "They copied the Patriots new helmet, basically." Same color and same basic shape. Why do that?

First, I think Aaron Rodgers is an attention whore. Secondly, I think the deal has been worked out, but he is using this leverage to step into the GM role--probably insisting on players he wants, etc. This is about the institution of Rodgers--not the Steelers. I would tell Rodgers "thanks but no thanks" and move on. The interesting team right now is the Giants. Obviously, Mr. Ws is not the answer--when JW starts throwing footballs to the other team in NY, it will not end well for him. I would rather have Flacco. If the Browns decide to take Sanders, the Giants are in a weird place. Think this way--their coach and GM could be on their last legs--should be. They needed a qb to save the day--unfortunately, that QB is a diva 41-year old looking for another farewell tour to celebrate his greatness. What do they do now? I was surprised they did not go after Cousins--and maybe they did. Regardless, if they are left as the bride's maid, they will have a player by the name of Abdul Carter from Penn State on the board at #3--Atlanta needs an Edge. I would work out a deal where the Giants drop to 15 and Atlanta moves up to 3. The Falcons have to eat some of Cousins' contract. NY would then take a DL or OL, and maybe a QB on day 2.

Too good to be true.

I would not mind Will Johnson, except for the fact that we would have to deal with all the jokes about Michael Jackson playing Nickelback. Seriously, Mike Jackson has played nickel and that would make our secondary strong--I see both CBs and Safeties being locked down for a while Horn (through 2028), Will Johnson (through 2029), and Moehrig (through 2027)--with Smith-Wade good through 2027). If we draft a S, the secondary would be solid.

We have 4 WRs that consist of a Rookie on the bust train, an undrafted free agent with 10 starts or so, a 30-year old special teams player who had his best year at age 30 and is back on a one year deal, and a 35-year old pro who is probably in his last year. You DO NOT DRAFT players for 4 years to fill immediate needs; most players suck as rookies--that is stupid logic. To suggest that WR is a medium need is insanely short sighted. In 2026, two of our current WRs will be gone. We will have Coker and XL and some overpaid free agent and reach for a draft pick. That is not how you build a roster. You draft for 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028 now. This keeps you from overpaying for free agents. Person says OLB (edge) is a huge need. It is, but what formula is he using? We have Clowney, Wonnum, Jones, Barno (likely to be cut) and Johnson (likely to be cut) but you have 3 edge players-2 starters and a backup. you could argue that they need a STARTING Edge, but will a rookie in 2025 be better than Clowney? On the edge-holding side, they have Wonnum and Jones. Are we really going to draft a third OLB who does what Wonnum and Jones do now? I do not see it, but since Person thinks they love Mikyl, he is allowing himself to be influenced by bias. Since there are 2 types of 3-4 OLBs, Person should be specific and let us know where they will play and what exact type is needed and why. He doesn't. He reads twitter. To me, this is true if you look beyond 2025, but he is not doing that. It is also true if the play is to replace Clowney. However, I think he heard that they are interested in an OLB from Georgia so he is gauging need by rumor. I think we need an edge as much as we need a WR. You have to look at the high priced positions after 2025.

I am not sure I would say DL is "Low"--The Panthers get Brown back, signed a NT from LA, and signed a DE. from KC who played beside Chris Jones, who I imagine got a bit of attention. Maybe Brown will have the same effect. Behind each player, we have our scrubs from last year-- Shy Tuttle--29 (in his prime) 42.7 PFF score. (33.5 vs. the run) LaBryan Ray--27 (in his prime) 33 PFF score (31.5 vs. the run) A'Shawn Robinson 30 (leaving his prime) 54.6 PFF grade (54.1 vs the run) Jayden Crumedy 23 (rookie season) 42.5 PFF score (42.1 vs. the run) That is not depth; that is deep shirt. While Robinson might make the cut to play behind Wharton, Brown can't keep playing 90% of the snaps. We might need a NT. Sorry folks, but this is lazy writing once again. I realize that he needs to produce content, but if you have developed contacts, your analysis might be deeper. Tweets and headlines that announce who a team is going to draft based on some anonymous insider info is the reason they do not trust you. What would good journalism look like? "When asked about the free agent signings on the IDL, Morgan responded that the Panthers are not done yet." "Smith-Wade struggled against quick slot WRs in 2025, based on statistics....." Instead, he is like a girl at a slumber party flipping through the yearbook, pointing at potential prom dates.

I think the panthers should steal a uniform concept from Pittsburgh--the Pirates. This logo branding-- a classic yet subtle design promotes your team like no others. I would add a jersey number to the front--probably on the front of the pants. Creativity is not lacking on the back either, with the name of the player vertical beside the jersey number, also vertical. Imagine this in blue and silver, with a Panther instead of a Pirate. I would probably steal the pinstriped gray pants as well. It is eye catching and classy at the same time, like Halle Berry in Monster's Ball. Without further ado....

I watched a lot of film on Mykel Williams--hours and hours of video footage if you include the ads. Here was my take: He is a guy who, in college, could hold his ground inside at the 4i. He did a lot of run stuffing and loop stunting toward the center in that role, and he was effective. His initial move, probably based on this role, is the swim technique--which is more of an IDL technique. I tried to focus on him from the 9 technique, and he did not let the OTs get their hands on him. As a 9 tech, I saw some quick jumps and some where he seemed confused or slow. I did not see a lot of spinning, but he seemed very concerned about the run. In fact, I get the feeling that he was a run-first, then move to the QB. Occasionally he got to pin his ears back and he was aggressive with violent hands, but it did not seem to be his main thing. While some are calling him raw, I agree if from the 9 tech is our only concern. But he was nasty inside and as a pass rusher and he holds the edge very well. Now, last year, we gave up a ton of rushing yards on cutbacks. MW stays at home and is disciplined. Do I see him as the #8 pick? I have little faith Evero will use him correctly---which is also my concern about Walker, his teammate. He was often the DE in a 3-3-5, with the OLBs outside him on the LOS-and he had outside contain. Even though he played inside the OT, the rush edge runs through the OT's hip, preventing Williams from being hooked. Williams then established the edge and would then take a proper angle, depending on the play. If the play goes away (run) you can tell that his responsibility is to close down the edge without over pursuit, watching for reverse, counter, bootlegs, and cutbacks. I saw him getting a lot of attention from RBs in pass pro, and a few teams doubled him a lot. However, he was not in on a lot of tackles, and that may be because he was left on an island quite a bit. 15 solo tackles (5 vs Mass) for a complete season is curious to me. I don't see top 10 stats, but I see a guy who knew his responsibilities. From this perspective, I understand why he only had 5 sacks. I think they feel if he stays outside as a 9, they could get the most out of him--with the ability to rush inside and give the Panthers 3 edges on passing downs. I get it, but it is a gamble. It seems UGA liked their swiss army knives.

I get them confused. I would probably draft the wrong guy.

We have a slew of DTs, but 3 were on our roster last year--I do not get bringing them back, even if to compete. I wonder if Shy Tuttle was out of position, but Ray sucked last year. I don't understand having a LOADED draft at DT and then spending your ass off signing a free agent and then signing another--I think we should add one of these young IDL in the draft--and we should ahve signed a S or another CB in free agency---I just don't get the strategy. It makes me question Morgan.

I thought it was because the word "butter" is in the name of the candy. They really should have AT with him, looking into the camera and translating. -
If I could get him (age, productivity, ceiling) on the cheap--$3m or so--I would take him--but I feel that there is something about him that has scared people away--the Jets dealt him (#34 pick overall) after just 2 years. Now the Browns do not want to re-sign him. Where there is smoke...

First, at this time of the offseason, there is a reason someone is still on the board--it requires a team to take a chance on some bottom feeding and try to find some damaged goods with upside. Convince me that I am wrong about Elijah Moore. I don't know more than what seems to be the case on paper. The negatives: He underperformed in Cleveland (inconsistent) and they did not re-sign him. The Browns are in cap hell, so that is understandable, but 30 other NFL teams did not sign him either. He had a pretty nasty head injury last season. He was drafted by the Jets and quickly traded to Cleveland. He is 5'9.5" and 178. Average to below-average size for a slot. Has tendency to use elongated step into route breaks. Limited catch radius dealing with tall throws. Could struggle fighting against NFL length when working downfield. Focus drops in 2019 with linebackers closing in. Elusiveness after the catch is average. Product of Mississippi (Lane Kiffin) program which tends to inflate numbers. The Positives (or reasons for hope): Had 61 catches in 2024 and was targeted 97 times. That resulted in only 538 yards and 1 TD. (More yards that XL and Coker) Spotrac has a value of $4m as a free agent. will be 25 during 2025 season Ran a 4.32 40 at pro day Consistent vertical push off the snap to threaten cornerbacks. Makes routes look the same each time out. Leverages defenders away from route breaks. has plenty of juice to get deep. Slams on brakes suddenly from full speed on comebacks. Caught 11 of 12 targets against Alabama in 2020. Tracks and stacks defender and adjusts into catch-ready positioning. Very tough guy with strong hands. Able to secure catches through hellacious hits. Capable of attacking on all three levels. Excellent spatial awareness against zone. MHS Analysis: He has been with two programs with rotating QBs who struggled. Why did the Jets give up on him so quickly? In Cleveland (2023 and 2024) he had 120 catches for nearly 1200 yards when the QB situation was questionable. He has been in the worst possible situations. I think (based on an article and video) he has been primarily a slot WR, but he is also known to get shy over the middle and is not that elusive. That sounds to me that he is out of position. With 4.3 speed and strong hands, put him outside as a short X. Make him a Steve Smith. At $4m, if that is what he would be willing to take (and I do not see his negotiating advantage at this point).

This. for some reason, he has the WR cognitive impairment disease that should be in an insane asylum, not a locker room.

I mocked spinach and crab cakes to you.

but did we telegraph it 6 weeks prior to the draft?
-
I try my best to avoid doing that--but it is hard to do. I had someone tell me the other day--you have predicted the panthers to take about every player...He was exaggerating, probably because he thinks I am awesome, but your mind really should be fluid at this time. I doubt the person we think the Panthers might take in March is our opinion in late April.

"I'm told....I'm told..." WHO IS TELLING YOU THIS???? Every year, everyone knows all about the Panthers interests etc. Damn, Morgan. Transparency is not good. Learn two words: Smokescreen and shutup.

No teammate of steve Smith after Moose (who was here when SS was drafted) ever materialized here. Reason? Smitty was a dick to them.

Who is the #5 WR for the Saints? Bucs? Falcons? Moore is one of those guys
