With Cam Newton, Ron Rivera was NFL coach of the year twice. Bill B. lost about 55% of his games without Brady. I am impressed with what they are doing in Houston with a rookie QB, NY Jets are doing well, and Sean Payton has got Denver playing well. The Niners are winning with Mr. Irrelevant. Seattle? Miami?--that is coaching. What is in their drinking water? Bill did not have to worry about the QB position for 2 decades--man, that makes the job so much easier. Gave him more time to work on things like spygate and inflate gate. His ego was built with false bravado. Any coach who had the GOAT at QB for 20 years might be a bit overvalued. Bringing him here reminds me of Seifert.

Is the game on Sunday going to be postponed?

playing a Southern dome team in heavy rain and 39 degree weather? Sounds like our best chance for win #2 -
We have never been good at drafting WRs, but I actually saw him bullying Dwayne Jarrett at an OTA and mentioned it to Jarrett afterwards...He was visibly upset, and shook my hand very firmly. Smith was in his head and it was upsetting him. That is one example and I do not make points based on isolated cases, but add that to the two punch outs, and it suggests that Smith is not a person who excels at nurturing talent around him. I even said something to Moose about it later (after he returned from the Bears) and he just smiled (very likeable, laid back dude) and he said, "Some folks see teammates as competition." He then joked, "I was here before him. He knows better than to get into my head." Smith has a rep for being an Asshat, so my theory is consistent with the rumors if nothing else--btw, Moose added that Smith is a great guy, a family man, and a heck of a competitor. We then joked about Kenny Moore saying that he had a #87 jersey as a kid growing up in Charlotte--and it was a toddler shirt. (Moore was a WR here for a brief period who grew up in Charlotte) they were teammates.

How many WRs prospered in Carolina with Smitty as their mentor? I'll wait over here.

Who would he punch out? The scouts? Agents?

Technically, if we had a plan, we should have been more active trading players before the deadline--We have no plan, and that is obvious. OL: The offensive line is about scheme and developing talent more than finding it--Hire coaches to develop young talent-Campen, Ickey has regressed, nothing from Cade Mays. We need for Mays, Zavala, and Icky to improve. BC was a third, Zavala was a fourth, Mays was a fifth (going from memory), and Ickey was a first rounder. Throw in Bozeman, and the pieces are there. In my mind, the kid from NDSU (Jensen) looked decent last night. I think we are not as bad as we think-just very young and injured-when the defense rushes 7 because the WRs and TEs suck, it makes the OL look terrible. Not to say they did not suck, but to say the talent is there. develop it--since you can't address every need in one offseason. WR and TE is more important. Trade Moten. His $30 m cap figure will only hurt the team. At 30, he is in his prime for an OL and has value. Play Christensen at RT. This will cause some of you to disagree--tough for me to say, but the cap is real. Sign a top free agent RG. Tip: Stop waiting until the end of the play clock and allowing the RG to signal to the C when to snap the ball. Just a hunch, but that pretty much helps the defense. Tag Burns. If you can get two firsts for him, Fitterer, do it this time. Lock up DT Brown for the long term. He is getting better and his price will only go up. He is 25, I believe. At WR, move Theilen to the slot, Mingo (rookie contract) become the fourth. Sign a stud free agent and draft a WR with pick 33. In the draft, WR is going to be deep; take advantage of that. LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr., Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka and South Carolina’s Xavier Legette, along with the Texas duo of Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell, all could be in play, and all arguably have first round talent. Legett is my favorite, playing is worse conditions and he is a big-bodied #1. Trust SC receivers in the NFL. There are no first round talented corners in this draft, but the depth is really good. with the third round selection, take the best CB. Jackson and Horn are in the tent more than on the field. Henderson is not effective. We need a CB who can play. I also think we should consider drafting a QB in this draft because there are some very solid developmental QBs who should be there after the big two from USC and UNC are gone (Bears, Patriots, probably) early. LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Oregon’s Bo Nix, and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. — three with top-50 grades — are out of eligibility, other potential top picks like Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy, and Texas’ Quinn Ewers have a big decision still on their hands. That means there are potentially 8 QBs who could go in the first 50 picks. The Panthers could make a trade and move up to grab a player like Nix or Penix--giving them options and depth at QB. Luvu has been good, but he is not an ILB-I hope we sign him back. I also think Chinn needs to go to OLB--he has been the most misused player. Here is a wild hair--sign Cam Newton--as a TE. He will be 33 and has a few years in him? Wild thought, but he is an athlete and we need his leadership.

Looking towards the 2024 draft, there is a pretty nifty holder who plays D-III ball in Arkansas. Go get him Fittererest.

I do not see a quick fix. When I see the Teppers now, I think of cancer.

We are all about stupid mistakes. Tuttle jumping offsides. Ian Thomas not rule blocking (he did not block anyone) on the punt/fumble/touchdown. How many of you felt, "Oh crap!" when Sanders was marked out at the one? We are fundamentally dysfunctional, mentally stupid, underwhelmingly talented, and strategically idiotic. They expect fans to pay to see that.

Lotta y'all are saying "Moton." Reality? Moton's cap figure is set to jump from $13.5m to almost $30m per year for 24 and 25. Derrick Brown is your best overall player. He is entering year 5, and his salary will increase by $10m. He needs to be locked down. Burns cap jumps from his 5th year deal at about $16m to around $35m. In my opinion, the way his situation has been handled is criminal and if Fitterer is responsible, he needs to be fired. If he is not responsible, then he needs to be fired for not being responsible. We are obviously going to be aggressive in free agency. The OL? I see no progress with Ickey, and he is a talent. New coach, keep LT on a rookie contract. BC? I say move him to RT and see what you can get for Moton. BC is very athletic, and unfortunately, Moton's contract at $30m at age 30 for a RT is too much considering our other needs. Zavala showed promise. Make him the LG. Corbett and Bozeman are OK, but we have to run an offense that supports their skill set. SO while some of you are saying, we need an OL most of all-I disagree. We need a new OC and system--we need WRs more than anything else because they are not getting open. Full stop. Theilen would be OK in a Ricky Prohel role, and Mingo might be better in year 2. Aside from that, we need 2 or 3 starting caliber WRs. We need a legitimate TE--not a bunch of blockers who catch the ball once in a while. We need a weapon to minimize the amount of blitzing we see if nothing else. Our OL looked bad because they were not is a good system that played to their talents, Bryce was holding the ball too long looking for an Open WR, and the TE was not a threat. I would rush 7 too.

I actually had that after a concussion from football. In my case, I could not remember what just happened. I knew people and places, but had no concept of time and I could not process information in my short term memory. Of course, I turned out just fine and you would all know that if it weren't for being distracted by the recent Kongamato invasion.

Don't bother, they're here.

He was--the coach drafts a long snapper and his wife drafts a RB because he had a good game against Baylor--the GM has to oversee that--so it is either Fitterer's fault or he is a rudderless boat. He should have stepped up, instead, he let Rhule go--maybe that was due to his support from Tepper, but either way, the situation is dysfunctional.

Panthers abandoning Wofford for training camp, will be in Charlotte
MHS831 replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
It seems as if Tepper can't even get the practice facilities right. While spending millions for coaches to sit on couches and draw double paychecks and abandoning the Rock Hill complex, the man is a colossal screw up. He has ego and money where brains should be. Dangerous -
Fitterer's best acquisition may have been his first--Sullivan. His free agent acquisitions? Busts. His draft picks? Busts. The guy is consistent. Someone here on the huddle said it best--the franchise player is Derek Brown, not Burns.

I agree. As with most dysfunctional organizations with bad leadership, everyone else is blamed until there is nobody left.

I don't think he will, but St. Louis comes to mind--I have not heard anything or researched it, but that market is bigger

I give you simple facts,TNO5, and your response is a poo emoji. Sounds like you have debated before!
