Who is falling for the Peacock Wildcard bullshitt
MHS831 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, they have already been doing this during the regular season, but I understand that local markets can still watch their teams on network TV then. However, I think this is the first time this has happened in the playoffs, so half the teams are already eliminated and there is more interest in out of market team games. -

We live in a country that pays backup QBs who never see the field $500,000 per game. We allow the rich to avoid paying taxes--heck, some even pay the legal fees of a self-proclaimed billionaire. So the OP is right--the more you give in, the more they will take. The rich are a bunch of greedy SOBs. -
It is the only thing a narcissist would do in this situation. Google it, everyone. You can predict when Tepper takes a dump if you understand the tendencies of his mentality. He is who he is, and that got him here, but it will not take him to where he wants to go. It is like riding a horse across country on your way to Europe. When you get to the coast, you probably need to get off the damn horse and let the boats take over.

Go get Vrabel. The guy won with a good Running game and a sub-par QB. Who else in the NFL can say that? Furthermore, I believe the experience he has is very important. As with any new position, coaches make rookie mistakes. Vrabe (that is what I can him because we are buds, sorta) is past that. I just love the coaches that get players to run through walls for them--getting the most out of the entire roster. Vrabel is one of those guys. Tomlin is that way, Dan Campbell is that way. Pete Carroll was that way, and in the form of head games, Belichick was that way. Vrabel would be John Fox on steriods, and that is not a bad thing.

Probably impressed by the way the Bears fleeced Fitterer last year.

Seriously, with Bill Belichick and David Tepper picking talent...
-
Lotta people saying Atlanta for Belichick. Commanders or Chargers--he wants a QB (Washington has the #2 pick, I believe) and LAC has Herbert and they are under performing. If I were him, I would go to the Chargers--I just don't know how much he'd like LA.

Y'all know this aint about money. When money is no longer a concern, it becomes a very minor issue behind decisions. He wants to prove to the world how great he is. Money did not make him famous, but this ownership has; however, he is infamous, something he never expected. He is getting older and seeks things money can't buy--like immortality (a lasting reputation as a winner). If he turned over the decisions to others, he would appear to be a failure in his mind. He wants his fingerprints on things--When things go wrong, he fires people because he wants to project that THEY are the reason it went South and even though he is to blame. It gives him the feeling of the "White Knight" riding into town to save the village. Right now, Tepper is embarrassed and blaming others--his circle that fed his narcissism and allowed him to think he is smart just betrayed him in his mind. Even if he knows that he is the problem, he is going to focus on appearances, even if fabricated to protect his ego. Being the richest owner, I am sure that he thinks he is the smartest and wants to prove it. I doubt he has the awareness of reality and sense he needs to step aside, unfortunately. The Narcissist with power is a very dangerous creature.

Panthers OFFICIALLY Announced to Play in Munich.
MHS831 replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nice. -
I had a conversation with some old college teammates and they asked me, "What coach would you want to play for in the NFL?" It was too hard for stupid former football players who were retelling ancient memories and exaggerated war stories that defy the actual statistics and facts, but here was my Mt. Rushmore: 1. Andy Reid 2. Pete Carroll 3. Mike Tomlin 4. John Harbaugh It was hard not putting Ryans, Saleh, Shanahan, and McDaniel on that list, so I developed a second Mt Rushmore of coaches I think I would like to play for. The Mt Rushmore of coaches I would not like to play for: 1. Bill Belichick 2. Sean Payton 3. Mike McCarthy 4. Nick Sirianni So it was written.

Ricci was showing signs in that area before IR, and Tremble flashed during Green Bay, but no, we had to have Thomas out there to meet our penalty quota. Still, not enough production to have either penciled in as the cure. I never saw Hurst as a big time TE, but apparently, Fitterer thought he was going to be our #1. I do think we need a stud--to help block at times and to get open at times.

Seriously--I did not know you could score in the 20s. I thought if your chin strap was snapped and you didn't shi t your pants you got a 30.
-
You mean giving great contracts to below average players is not the goal?
-
No, that would be tragic. I also think the personality of the GM is important to attract free agents and undrafted rookies. Not sure how he relates to people--not saying he can't, but...
-
I think that Morgan will remain as half of the equation, if he is not offered another job. I think the cap is very important and these days you need an expert. Tepper is not as smart as he thinks he is, but he is smarter than many think he is. Maybe he will figure it out.
-
I don't like hiring people based on reputation when they have won it all so many times. I really like the hungry and young coaches who worked under these legends, frothing at the mouth, working night and day to apply what they have learned. Just me?
-
He needs to meet Tepper.
-
I know you have some studs who also deserve it, like Donald, but I have never seen a DT who stays on the field and chases plays to the sideline like a LB.
-
So he sets the record for tackles in a season (103), has 2 sacks (despite being double teamed all the time), never leaves the field, and he is not first? So many other times he stuffs the LOS.
-
I dunno. n The Panthers averaged about 14 points per game. Any coach would play us conservatively to keep from beating themselves. I am not sure our D saw an offense that was much more than vanilla. If I were coaching, I would use the Panther game to set up the following week's game. For example, I'd run a double reverse 3 times, then next week, a double reverse, flea flicker pass-I know that our offense faced an unbridled, 8 in the box defense that was not worried about getting beat deep. Stunts, blitzes, etc. vs. our terrible guards, unopen WRs, below average TEs, and rookie/miniature QB.
-
Which is probably why he wont get the job even if he is the most qualified--PR move to bring in fresh faces, if nothing else

NFC South 2024 Offseason Financials [Spotrac]
MHS831 replied to Evil Hurney's topic in Carolina Panthers
I vote for you to be the next GM. The problem is, when you have a hatchet man like Tepper who thinks he can tantrum his way to greatness, the vision becomes shorter--day-to-day in some cases. -
Give me either one of these in the 2nd round and I’m happy..

I call it the Rae Carruth Curse. Yes, we did draft Steve Smith after drafting Carruth (Moose was drafted the year before we drafted Carruth) , but at the time, they were mostly interested in his special teams abilities. Panthers picks at WR beginning with Rae Carruth (1997) with round drafted in parentheses: 1997: Rae Carruth (1) 1998: Donald Hayes (4), Jim Turner (7) 2001: Steve Smith (3) (best panther draft ever--Morgan, Jenkins, Smith.) 2003: Walter Young (7) 2004: Keary Colbert (2), Drew Carter (5) 2007: Dwayne Jarrett (2), Ryne Robinson (4) 2010: Brandon Lafell (2), Armanti Edwards (3), David Gettis (5) 2011: Kealoha Pilares (5) 2012: Joe Adams (4) 2014: Kelvin Benjamin (1) 2015: Devin Funchess (2) 2017: Curtis Samuel (2) 2018: DJ Moore (1) 2019: Terry Godwin (7) 2021: Terrace Marshall Jr (2), Shi Smith (6) 2023: Jonathan Mingo (2). Taking a look at the first rounders ONLY: 1997: Rae Carruth (1) 2014: Kelvin Benjamin (1) 2018: DJ Moore (1) Taking a look at the Second rounders ONLY: 2004: Keary Colbert (2) 2007: Dwayne Jarrett (2) 2010: Brandon Lafell (2) 2015: Devin Funchess (2) 2017: Curtis Samuel (2) 2021: Terrace Marshall Jr (2) 2023: Jonathan Mingo (2) Yikes
