  1. I see what you did there. That was a a baaaaaad joke.
  2. But we had 40 events at the stadium that the teppers don't own.
  3. I am starting to regret the Nix prediction.
  4. I am not sure our front office would know what to do--they might make good decisions if attempting to tank--we could hoist the Lombardi in February if we tried to tank.
  5. Here is what scares me: We have to hit on 2 starters, 3 contributing players in this draft with 2nd 3rd and 4th rounders. A WR, maybe 2 has to hit the jackpot. In the history of the Panthers since Smith, name a wr we have drafted that was really good-Moore? any others?
  6. With our cap, I do not see how we can rebuild in a year. We will know the answer if we trade Burns for 2025 first rounder and other picks.
  7. Final pearl of wisdom: I think the secret to free agency is signing a player with a question mark (coming off a surgery, following a bad year, etc) and doing your homework. A signing like Sanders, for example, from a team the a dual threat QB and a great OL, was stupid. I hated it at the time and we are paying dearly for it. Hurst? I'd rather have Tremble in the game. Now, we did this with Chark and it did not pan out. Not that bad of a risk, honestly. Thielen was a good signing. He panned out, but they were under the impression we would be competitive in 2023. Time to refocus. Build the OL, draft weapons, and move on. Trade Burns if it helps--if it hurts the team, keep him. duh.
  8. I remember last year and maybe the year before, we kept signing free agents and the cap barely dropped. I was very worried at the time.
  9. That is what I was going to say---I thought Bozeman was not good last year, but it could have been due to being flanked by reserve guards. Corbett played about 4 games and was not good. If we go with a wide zone BS, I would think that Ekwonu could become a G--but I am only speculating
  10. It was hard to see his route running in that video==lotta deep balls. Some body catching. DId not see a great catch (Caleb Williams on target) in the bunch. Good when play breaks down and gets open. Surely Jerry Rice has taught the kid to be a great route runner. Teams seemed to play soft zones vs. USC
  11. If we TRIED to be more stupid in trades, the draft, and free agency, we could not have been worse.
  12. I wanted more from 89. Not mentioning names....I mean, your opinion is why we watch. Ladd? Pearsall? it was encouraging to hear what he said about Legette. I thought he was rough at the combine. He sees more than we do and he knows more--I trust him. So if we get a highly rated player who cannot run routes and he drops out of round 1, do you take him or the kid with a notch less talent who runs good routes? I thought they were going to mention Stephen Hill at one point--I think Smitty wanted to. The screwdriver metaphor was very interesting--out routes vs in routes in relation to Mingo. We could have an improved player in Mingo.
  13. There are ducks in this world, and often I gaze upon one, and when I do, say, "A duck."
  14. Well if it weren't for PSL owners selling their tickets to other teams' fans, the stadium would be half empty--that embarrasses me. She has nothing to offer pro football and she needs to stop acting like she has a voice in football decisions--and I pray to God that she does not. She is nothing but a Gold digging, second-rate piece of arm candy clinging to the Benny Hill of professional sports.
  15. I agree--Maye was a bit generous with the picks and Daniels sorta came out of the blue with a dual threat qb. I would take Maye over Daniels--but reading some love for Daniels from Washington. To me, Daniels is a notch better than Anthony Richardson and he seemed to gain steam closer to the draft. I think Lamar Jackson has something to do with that, but I dunno.
  16. At the 0:12 second mark, does she say, "the state of Charlotte?" I think she did.
  17. I provided their run support data. Did you read it? Here is an interesting stat: RIGHT NOW he has as many career tackle assists (95) as Charles Johnson (95) and Julius Peppers (91), two guys who got paid. Burns is 25. Burns has averaged 1.88 solo tackles per game. Peppers averaged (as a Panther) had 2.25 solo tackles per game. Charles Johnson averaged 1.59. Your data?
  18. I was on the "trade him" bandwagon because I did not like the comment he made either. However, if you break it down, you have to separate the emotional chest pounding from the business decision. Burns may have a point.
  19. I think keeping Luvu is important because he does sack the QB and he does have tackles for loss because he is primarily a one-gapping, hole shooting LB. He makes big plays that you notice, whereas Luke did too, but he made many more tackles because he was a multiple gap LB (could read the play quicker than anyone I have seen at the position--including Singletary). But let's focus on your analysis of Brian Burns for a moment, and compare him to the greatest Panthers to play his position. Brian Burns posted a career-best 12.5 sacks in 2022, part of a Pro Bowl effort that also saw him set career highs in tackles (63), tackles for loss (17) and QB hits (22). Burns now ranks fifth in franchise history with 46.0 career sacks, having played in about half as many games as Julius Peppers, who leads the team with 97. Burns is 25 years old, and he needs just 21.5 sacks to pass Charles Johnson on the all-time Panther sack list to become second on the list of all time leader in sacks by age 27. Johnson retired at age 32. If Burns remains a Panther, it is likely that he will pass Addison and Rucker to become the Panthers' third all time leader in sacks in 2024. Burns will be 26 years old when that happens. He needs 9.5 sacks to pass them. Burns averages 0.58 sacks per game for his career. Peppers averaged 0.63 as a Panther. The second all-time sack leader, Charles Johnson, averaged 0.47 sacks per game. Both Peppers and Charles Johnson got paid at the top end of the market. While Burns seems to be a notch below Peppers and a notch above Johnson in every category, people on the Huddle want him gone because he is not a "dawg" When he made that comment about not being injured, he was simply being honest. If the Panthers were not going to take care of Burns, he would have to take care of himself. He was frustrated by the way the Panthers have handled him and by the team's lack of commitment to winning. They turned down 2 firsts which means the Rams would have paid him well. They did not get a contract done. He started the 2023 season on a tear, if you recall. Now, your point is, "he is not a dawg," but he is on track to be the team's second most effective player at his position by the time he enters his prime--age 27. If he remains a Panther for another 4-5 years, I have no doubt that he will pass Peppers statistically. Please define "dawg" for me? https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask?q=carolina+panthers+all-time+sacks+leaders
  20. I am looking at the draft and our cap and our needs and I have to say this: What a great year to need two Wide Receivers. We should, in my view, stay in the draft at WR. We will probably have to sign a CB and draft one, along with a G. Then there are players like Luvu, etc. Don't pay for a decent WR on a second contract--get two rookies in this draft and go with them. I think if we go buy a fish dinner when they are jumping into the boat, shame on us.
  21. I realize that he did not play much in 2023, but a post June 1 cut of Austin Corbett is not as crazy as it sounds. First, he is coming off a pretty serious injury for a big man. Second, he did not play well last year when he played Third, a post June 1 cut would create the following: Now,he is not worth $10m and he will be 29, which is "in his prime" for a G, so there is that. And I realize that many of you have some concerns about PFF, but for assessing OL play, it is about the best measure we have--Corbett played about 257 snaps which is about 4 full games. He was on pace to surrender between 12 and 13 sacks. For a guard, that is inexcusable. His rating of 47.9 is abysmal. We are slated to pay him between 10 and 11 million dollars for this kind of performance. I know we cant cut everyone, but he would give us over $6m in cap room and his replacement is likely to do much better than this--- What the hell did Campen do all day?
  22. Right. If Detroit really wants to compete in that division--with Love, Caleb Williams, and ???? in Minnesota--probably Wilson, they know they need an elite pass rush. Burns at 25 for the 29th pick would be a steal for any GM.
  23. You have to look at position value--a pass rushing edge is more valuable than a LB. I think any conclusions right now are premature because I am not confident that Burns will be here next year--
  24. did not even mention detroit-speculative
